Learnable three-dimensional Gabor convolutional network with global affinity attention for hyperspectral image classification

Benefiting from the development of hyperspectral imaging technology,hyperspectral image(HSI)classification has become a valuable direction in remote sensing image ***,researchers have found a connection between convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and Gabor ***,some Gabor-based CNN methods have been proposed for HSI ***,most Gabor-based CNN methods still manually generate Gabor filters whose parameters are empirically set and remain unchanged during the CNN learning ***,these methods require patch cubes as network *** patch cubes may contain interference pixels,which will negatively affect the classification *** address these problems,in this paper,we propose a learnable three-dimensional(3D)Gabor convolutional network with global affinity attention for HSI *** precisely,the learnable 3D Gabor convolution kernel is constructed by the 3D Gabor filter,which can be learned and updated during the training ***,spatial and spectral global affinity attention modules are introduced to capture more discriminative features between spatial locations and spectral bands in the patch cube,thus alleviating the interfering pixels *** results on three well-known HSI datasets(including two natural crop scenarios and one urban scenario)have demonstrated that the proposed network can achieve powerful classification performance and outperforms widely used machine-learning-based and deep-learning-based methods.

Intelligent Orchestrating of IoT Microservices Based on Reinforcement Learning

With the recent increase in the number of Internet of things(IoT) services, an intelligent scheduling strategy is needed to manage these services. In this paper, the problem of automatic choreography of microservices in IoT is explored. A type of reinforcement learning(RL) algorithm called TD3 is used to generate the optimal choreography policy under the framework of a softwaredefined network. The optimal policy is gradually reached during the learning procedure to achieve the goal, despite the dynamic characteristics of the network environment. The simulation results show that compared with other methods, the TD3 algorithm converges faster after a certain number of iterations, and it performs better than other non-RL algorithms by obtaining the highest reward. The TD3 algorithm can effciently adjust the traffic transmission path and provide qualified IoT services.

Human-to-Robot Handover control of an Autonomous Mobile Robot Based on Hand-Masked Object Pose Estimation

This letter presents a human-to-robot handover design for an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR). The developed control system enables the AMR to navigate to a specific person and grasp the object that the person wants to handover. This letter proposes a motion planning algorithm for grasping an unseen object held in hand. Through hand detection and segmentation, the hand region is masked and removed from the acquired depth image, which is used to estimate the object pose for grasping. For grasp pose determination, we propose to add the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) to the Generative Grasping Convolutional Neural Network (GGCNN) model to enhance the recognition rate. For the object-grasp task, the AMR localizes the object in person's hand, and uses the Model Predictive control (MPC)-based controller to simultaneously control the mobile base and manipulator to grasp the object. A laboratory-developed mobile manipulator, equipped with a 6-DoF TM5M-900 is used for experimental verification. The experimental results show an average handover success rate of 81% for five different objects. © 2016 IEEE.

In this study, 74 college student volunteers were recruited as experimental participants, and 108 game 3D images of the Arena of Valor game were used as the selected samples. The digital avatar is presented to the subject through AR technology. Then, the participants were asked to choose five digital avatar that they would probably go on to use in the future metaverse. Finally, after excluding the effects of game familiarity and other socio-statistical variables, it was found that the gender of the selected Digital avatar was positively correlated with the actual participants’ gender, and it was further found that females were more gender specific and more aggregated in terms of Gender Expression than males, while males were less gender specific and more dispersed. This study found that although there was certain influence of historical culture on the selection aspect of the digital avatar, it was not significant. TD-SAS: A Trust-Aware and Decentralized Speed Advisory System for Energy-Efficient Autonomous Vehicle Platoons

Autonomous vehicle platooning benefits significantly from the Consensus Speed Advisory System (CSAS), an emerging technology that recommends a consensus speed to reduce energy consumption. However, managing trust to ensure system security and identify malicious nodes poses a considerable challenge in these autonomous environments. Furthermore, while CSAS optimizes the total energy consumption of the platoon, it may inadvertently result in increased energy use for specific vehicles, discouraging their continued participation and hindering an efficient formation of a platoon. This paper proposes a trust-aware and decentralized speed advisory system (TD-SAS) to address these challenges. TD-SAS employs a consortium blockchain for managing trust nodes, providing non-repudiation and tamper resistance for reputation data. Capitalizing on this platform, we use a multi-weight subjective logic model for precise reputation value calculation. Additionally, we present a trust-aware consensus speed recommendation scheme capable of adapting its recommendations to vehicular reputation variations. To mitigate the potential disincentives for vehicles experiencing increased energy consumption, we incorporate an incentive mechanism to encourage their re-engagement with TD-SAS. Comprehensive security analysis and extensive simulation experiments confirm the robustness and effectiveness of TD-SAS, emphasizing its potential for enhancing the energy efficiency and security of autonomous vehicle platoons. Semi-supervised learning has garnered significant attention, particularly in medical image segmentation, owing to its capacity to leverage a large number of unlabeled data and a limited amount of labeled data to improve performance. However, most existing semi-supervised segmentation methods exhibit shortcomings in supervising unlabeled data, both in the label space due to potential noise in pseudo-labels, and the feature space due to indistinct class boundaries. To address the issues above, we propose Dual-view Label and Feature Supervision Network, termed DLFS-Net, to enhance label and feature supervision for unlabeled data. Our approach is based on a dual-view learning strategy that incorporates two modules: the Confidence Fusion Supervision Module (CFS) and the Dual-view Prototype Learning Module (DPL). Specifically, the CFS module generates weight matrices to integrate complementary information from two model outputs, producing more accurate pseudo-labels in the label space. The DPL module reduces intra-class variations in the feature space from two different views through prototype learning to generate clear class boundaries. Experiments on the LA and Pancreas-CT datasets demonstrate that our framework show solid gains (e.g.,1.76% Dice and 2.37% Jaccard improvement on Pancreas-CT dataset with 20% labeled data) compared with the state-of-the-art methods. © 2024 ACM.

The accuracy of kernel estimation is critical to the performance of blind super-resolution (SR). Traditional kernel estimation methods usually use L1 or L2 loss function to minimize the difference between the estimated kernel and the ground-truth kernel. This tends to make the estimated kernel converge towards the average of all possible kernels, deviating from the ground-truth kernel. To improve the performance of kernel estimation, this paper proposes an uncertainty loss for training a kernel estimation network, focusing on regions with high uncertainty (variance) in the kernel. In addition, a texture-aware SR network is proposed that utilizes the Gumbel Softmax trick to pay more attention to the complex regions of the image texture, thus improving the SR performance. Extensive experiments on synthetic datasets show that our approach achieves promising performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Compared with traditional natural images, remote sensing images (RSIs) typically have high resolution. The objects in the images are densely distributed, with heterogeneous orientation and large scale variation, even among objects of the same class. In recent years, object detection algorithms have made great strides in general images, but they are still difficult to meet the challenges that exist in RSIs. Therefore, we propose a foreground feature embedding network (FFE-Net) for object detection in RSIs. To better grasp the object features in RSIs, we design a foreground feature embedding module (FFEM) to learn the foreground features of the object. This is achieved by introducing an additional semantic segmentation branch and embedding the features in the classification and regression branches. Simultaneously, we propose a modified Gaussian function with focal loss (MGFFL) as a way to eliminate the extra background noise from soft labels, making the learned foreground features more robust. Our experimental results on two publicly available remote sensing image datasets, DOTA-v1.0 and HRSC2016, validate the effectiveness of FFE-Net. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
