The increasing demand for efficient resource allocation in mobile networks has catalyzed the exploration of innovative solutions that could enhance the task of real-time cellular traffic prediction. Under these circumstances, federated learning (FL) stands out as a distributed and privacy-preserving solution to foster collaboration among different sites, thus enabling responsive near-the-edge solutions. In this paper, we comprehensively study the potential benefits of FL in telecommunications through a case study on federated traffic forecasting using real-world data from base stations (BSs) in Barcelona (Spain). Our study encompasses relevant aspects within the federated experience, including model aggregation techniques, outlier management, the impact of individual clients, personalized learning, and the integration of exogenous sources of data. The performed evaluation is based on both prediction accuracy and sustainability, thus showcasing the environmental impact of employed FL algorithms in various settings. The findings from our study highlight FL as a promising and robust solution for mobile traffic prediction, emphasizing its twin merits as a privacy-conscious and environmentally sustainable approach, while also demonstrating its capability to overcome data heterogeneity and ensure high-quality predictions, marking a significant stride towards its integration in mobile traffic management systems. © 2016 IEEE.

The purpose of this article is to propose Stability-based Energy-Efficient Link-State Hybrid Routing(S-ELHR),a low latency routing proto-col that aims to provide a stable mechanism for routing in unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV).The S-ELHR protocol selects a number of network nodes to create a Connected Dominating Set(CDS)using a parameter known as the Stability Metric(SM).The SM considers the node’s energy usage,connectivity time,and node’s *** the highest SM nodes are chosen to form *** node declares a Willingness to indicate that it is prepared to serve as a relay for its neighbors,by employing its own energy state.S-ELHR is a hybrid protocol that stores only partial topological information and routing tables on CDS *** of relying on the routing information at each intermediary node,it uses source routing,in which a route is generated on-demand,and data packets contain the addresses of the nodes the packet will transit.A route recovery technique is additionally utilized,which first locates a new route to the destination before forwarding packets along *** simulation for various network sizes and mobility speeds,the efficiency of S-ELHR is *** findings demonstrate that S-ELHR performs better than Optimized Link State Routing(OLSR)and Energy Enhanced OLSR(EE-OLSR)in terms of packet delivery ratio,end-to-end delay,and energy consumption.

Density estimation-based method to determine sample size for random sample partition of big data

Random sample partition(RSP)is a newly developed big data representation and management model to deal with big data approximate computation *** research and practical applications have confirmed that RSP is an efficient solution for big data processing and ***,a challenge for implementing RSP is determining an appropriate sample size for RSP data *** a large sample size increases the burden of big data computation,a small size will lead to insufficient distribution information for RSP data *** address this problem,this paper presents a novel density estimation-based method(DEM)to determine the optimal sample size for RSP data ***,a theoretical sample size is calculated based on the multivariate Dvoretzky-Kiefer-Wolfowitz(DKW)inequality by using the fixed-point iteration(FPI)***,a practical sample size is determined by minimizing the validation error of a kernel density estimator(KDE)constructed on RSP data blocks for an increasing sample ***,a series of persuasive experiments are conducted to validate the feasibility,rationality,and effectiveness of *** results show that(1)the iteration function of the FPI method is convergent for calculating the theoretical sample size from the multivariate DKW inequality;(2)the KDE constructed on RSP data blocks with sample size determined by DEM can yield a good approximation of the probability density function(p.d.f);and(3)DEM provides more accurate sample sizes than the existing sample size determination methods from the perspective of *** demonstrates that DEM is a viable approach to deal with the sample size determination problem for big data RSP implementation.

Machine Learning as a Service (MLaaS) is an innovative framework that enables a broad range of users to capitalize on the powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. Nevertheless, MLaaS raises a privacy concern for both the client data and server model. To address this issue, several Secure Inference (SI) frameworks for MLaaS have been proposed in the literature that take advantage of Homomorphic Encryption (HE) operations. However, the computation cost of these frameworks is still high, especially for real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a novel system called input structure optimization for neural networks (TILE) to accelerate SI. The goal of TILE is to reduce both linear and non-linear computation costs, as well as non-linear communication costs in MLaaS, while maintaining the model accuracy. TILE defines two novel HE-friendly input structures: Internal Tile and External Tile Structures, aimed at reducing the HE operations for SI. We also develop a search mechanism to identify optimal application locations for these input structures. We apply TILE to widely used models such as VGG and ResNet, and datasets including Cifar10 and Tiny-ImageNet. The experimental results demonstrate that TILE effectively reduces the computation time, with up to 51.57% reduction for a state-of-the-art SI framework. Furthermore, TILE can also be applied to models that have already been pruned to significantly reduce the computation time, to further reduce the overall computation time by 25.90%. © 2024 IEEE.

Preserving location privacy in Vehicular Ad hoc NETwork (VANET) is crucial for gaining public acceptance of this emerging technology. Many privacy schemes focus on periodically changing pseudonyms to prevent message linking. However, the spatiotemporal information contained in beacons allows vehicles to be traced, compromising driver privacy. Therefore, pseudonym changes should be performed in a mix-context, which disrupts the spatial and temporal correlation of subsequent beacons. This mix-context is commonly achieved through methods such as a silence period or predetermined locations (e.g., Mix-Zone). In this paper propose a new privacy scheme named SHADOW (Silent-based Hybrid Approach for Dynamic Pseudonymization and Privacy Preservation in Vehicular Networks), which is a location privacy scheme that allows vehicles to determine when to change their pseudonyms based on the number of neighboring vehicles and a silent period. Evaluated this scheme against a global multitarget tracking adversary using simulated and realistic vehicle traces and compare it with twelve previous privacy schemes in the Enhanced Privacy Extension Model (EPREXT) by using privacy metrics. The simulation results demonstrate that SHADOW achieves the highest level of security and privacy compared to the other twelve schemes. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Previous benchmarks for evaluating large language models (LLMs) have primarily emphasized quantitative metrics, such as data volume. However, this focus may neglect key qualitative data attributes that can significantly impact the final rankings of LLMs, resulting in unreliable leaderboards. In this paper, we investigate whether current LLM benchmarks adequately consider these data attributes. We specifically examine three attributes: diversity, redundancy, and difficulty. To explore these attributes, we propose a framework with three separate modules, each designed to assess one of the attributes. Using a method that progressively incorporates these attributes, we analyze their influence on the benchmark. Our experimental results reveal a meaningful correlation between LLM rankings on the revised benchmark and the original benchmark when these attributes are accounted for. These findings indicate that existing benchmarks often fail to meet all three criteria, highlighting a lack of consideration for multifaceted data attributes in current evaluation datasets. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Airstacknet: A Stacking Ensemble-Based Approach for Air Quality Prediction

The quality of the airwe breathe during the courses of our daily lives has a significant impact on our health and well-being as ***,personal air quality measurement remains *** this study,we investigate the use of first-person photos for the prediction of air *** main idea is to harness the power of a generalized stacking approach and the importance of haze features extracted from first-person images to create an efficient new stacking model called AirStackNet for air pollution *** consists of two layers and four regression models,where the first layer generates meta-data fromLight Gradient Boosting Machine(Light-GBM),Extreme Gradient Boosting Regression(XGBoost)and CatBoost Regression(CatBoost),whereas the second layer computes the final prediction from the meta-data of the first layer using Extra Tree Regression(ET).The performance of the proposed AirStackNet model is validated using public Personal Air Quality Dataset(PAQD).Our experiments are evaluated using Mean Absolute Error(MAE),Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Coefficient of Determination(R2),Mean Squared Error(MSE),Root Mean Squared Logarithmic Error(RMSLE),and Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE).Experimental Results indicate that the proposed AirStackNet model not only can effectively improve air pollution prediction performance by overcoming the Bias-Variance tradeoff,but also outperforms baseline and state of the art models.
