Quantum computing is progressing at a fast rate and there is a real threat that classical cryptographic methods can be compromised and therefore impact the security of blockchain networks. All of the ways used to secure blockchain like Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA), Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit (SHA256) are the characteristic of the traditional cryptographic techniques vulnerable to attack by quantum algorithms: Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms: can efficiently break asymmetric encryption and speed up brute force attacks. Because of this vulnerability, there exists a need to develop an advance quantum resilient blockchain framework to protect the decentralized ledgers from the future threats of the quantum. This research proposes Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) as a formidable architectural integration, to fortify security of blockchain. Classical encryption is replaced with PQC, QKD with secure key exchange by detecting eavesdropping, and QRNG with improving cryptographic randomness to remove the predictable key vulnerability. Only with a small loss of transaction efficiency, we increase transaction encryption accuracy, key exchange security, and resistance to quantum attacks. In this quantum enhanced blockchain design, the idea is to preserve the decentralization, transparency and security and at the same time overcome the future quantum threat. By going through rigorous analysis and comparative evaluation, we demonstrate that the approach saves blockchain networks from the emerging quantum risks to make sure that the decentralized finance, smart contracts and cross chain transactions. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). Since they connect major population and economic hubs across borders, roads and transportation play a crucial role in a nation's economy. Crash and accident rates are a direct result of poor and substandard road conditions. Road inspectors can better plan repair and assessment tasks with the help of the Pavement Maintenance System (PMS). Distress detection surveys are still carried out manually in developing nations. However, manual road inspection techniques carried out on the ground are dangerous, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) offer the flexibility and manoeuvrability to swiftly visually inspect the damaged area and gather the required data without endangering human safety. Surveyors would therefore be better able to assess the state of road pavement in rural areas if pavement panel detection using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) was implemented. In this study, the precision, recall, and latency of the YOLOv7 and YOLOv8 instance segmentation models for pavement panel detectors were examined. This paper also introduced a new dataset of UAV images from complex and unstructured road environments within the highway areas in the Philippines. The findings indicate that YOLOv8 performed better, with a latency of 84.65 ms, a precision of 97.36% ±0.002, and a recall of 98.71 %±0.004. Road users and managers may benefit from an accelerated pavement assessment process in rural areas thanks to the suggested pavement panel detection model. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel approach to enhance energy harvesting systems from ambient Radio Frequency (RF) sources in overcrowded environments. In environments like shopping malls, coffee shops, and airports, where wireless devices are prevalent, the electromagnetic energy emitted by these devices can be harvested and converted into electrical energy to power small devices, specifically those associated with the Social Internet of Things (SIoT). However, due to the high density of devices in such environments, the RF signals can be weak, resulting in low energy harvesting efficiency. This study focuses on developing technologies for wireless power transfer through a radio frequency ambient energy harvesting scheme, specifically designing to improve energy harvesting systems in crowded social environments. Recognizing the growing importance of energy harvesting for low-power devices in intelligent environments, our proposed method utilizes the ambient environment to capture energy in the downlink radio frequency range of the GSM-900 band. The system architecture comprises four main stages: a supercapacitor, a Villard voltage doubler circuit with seven stages, a lumped element matching network, and a microstrip patch antenna. The voltage doubler circuit is designed and simulated using the Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) 2014 environment, and simulations and tests are conducted across different input power levels. Throughout the study, several key factors are identified as crucial to the system’s efficiency, including the frequency band, input power level, voltage doubler circuit design, impedance matching, diode selection, number of rectification stages, and load resistance. The proposed method demonstrates significant potential in enhancing the energy harvesting efficiency from ambient RF sources in crowded social environments. Mobile networks are flexible enough to support a range of resource allocation models and service-based choices in computing domains, which affects both virtual reality and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT). Virtual resource management is made easier by the Mobile Edge computing (MEC) paradigm, which also makes edge connectivity between data terminals and execution in the core network under heavy load possible. Meeting customer requirements efficiently is achieved through thoughtful planning, aided by cognitive agents. User data, incorporating behavioral patterns, is amalgamated to cater to IIOT service types. Neural caching for memory during task execution is made easier by the use of swarm intelligence and reinforcement learning techniques. Prediction strategies optimize business operations and caching to reduce execution delays. Predictive models evaluate performance by taking into account variables like nearby user equipment and mobile edge computing resources. This method's efficacy is demonstrated by a cognitive agent model that manages resource distribution and creates networks of communication to improve service quality. For accurate resource distribution among end users, reinforcement learning techniques - more especially, Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithms - are used. This includes building cost mapping tables and optimizing allocation in MEC. The proposed method outperforms existing algorithms like Task-Offloading and Resource Allocation Strategy and achieves a better throughput value of 785.32. © 2024 IEEE.

Performance Based Scheduling in Distributed Mixed Criticality Systems

With a focus on computationally intensive, distributed, and parallel workloads, scheduling in mixed-criticality distributed systems presents significant challenges due to shared memory and resources, as well as the diverse demands of tasks. The system’s efficiency is heavily dependent on the overall scheduling duration (make span), while individual task deadlines impose strict timing constraints. When the tasks need to simultaneously access the shared memory, then these tasks interfere the execution of one another. For managing the scheduling of interfering tasks in distributed mixed-criticality systems, a novel Interference-Aware Partitioning Fixed Priority (IAP-FP) approach is proposed, which effectively handles task partitioning among cores while considering interference, ensuring better performance and adherence to critical deadlines. This method reduces task waiting times, which minimizes the scheduling duration and improving the schedulability of the task set. The novel proposed approach is compared with Mixed-Criticality Multicore Compositional Earliest Deadline First (MMC-EDF), Global and Mixed Criticality Partitioning (MC-Partitioning) approaches to show the efficiency. The proposed approach schedules 75% tasks while the MMC-EDF, Global and MC-Partitioning approaches schedules 65%, 0% and 18% tasks respectively for target utilization U=0.8. As the utilization of mixed criticality (MC) workload increases, the schedulability of MC task sets decreases, but still the proposed approach performs better than the MMC-EDF, Global and MC-partitioning approaches. © 2013 IEEE.

An experimental and numerical approach for optimization of internal and external corrugations with various geometries in cylindrical thin-walled concertina energy absorbers under quasi-static axial load

Thin-walled tubes have been extensively used as energy absorbers in many engineering structures that are under dynamic or quasi-static loads. In this article, the effect of corrugation and its geometry on the collapse characteristics of aluminum concertina tubes under quasi-static axial load is investigated both experimentally and numerically. The numerical simulations were performed with the use of LS-Dyna commercial software. Then, several chosen samples were tested experimentally to verify the results of the simulation. Forty different samples with four different corrugation geometries including singly isosceles triangular corrugation, continual isosceles triangular corrugation, continual scalene triangular corrugation, and continual semi-circular corrugation, and each with 10 different size dimensions were simulated. Among all of these simulations, six of them, each with two replicates were subjected to experimental tests. Experimental examples are aluminum cylindrical thin-walled tubes with the same thickness, height, and diameter that corrugations with different geometries are applied to them by the use of the cold rolling method. Finally, to describe the findings in more theoretical terms, a comparison between our obtained results and earlier theoretical investigations is made. The results show a significant influence of corrugations application on the improvement of the collapse characteristics of the cylindrical tubes so that the collapse style of intact tubes can be controlled by applying corrugations. The results show that by increasing the amplitude and number of corrugations, the absorbed energy, and the initial maximum force decrease. It is also found that among the different corrugation geometries, the corrugations with singly isosceles triangular geometry have the highest energy absorption as well as the lowest initial maximum force. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

With increasing requirements for high quality, low bandwidth video transmission systems, comes a demand for more ad hoc video encoders. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), or just drones, have recently grown in popularity and use. Therefore, in this paper, we provide an efficiency comparison of the two most popular video encoders in a First-person view (FPV) drone piloting system. We film all the test sequences ourselves, using a drone with an attached 4K camera. Each sequence captures a scene with different spatiotemporal characteristics. Because video encoders are sensitive to video content or scene complexity, instead of doing a comprehensive comparison of all sequences at once, we first classify all the sequences into four groups. Finally, we examine the compression efficiency by varying the parameters with the highest impact on encoder operation. The quality of compressed footage is determined using four objective video quality measures. Due to high computational complexity, tests were performed on several nodes of a supercomputer and the relative encoding times were also considered. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation of acoustic signals has been studied extensively by many researchers. Improving the performance of the DOA estimation methods is a hot topic in array signal processing. In this study, an application of the coherence factor, which is widely applied in medical ultrasound imaging, is extended to DOA estimation of wideband acoustic signals. The advantage of applying different coherence factors in tracking acoustic sources is illustrated by a cross correlation-based DOA estimation. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method both simulated data and narrowband and wideband recorded signals are utilized. Simulation results reveal that combining the coherence factors with the cross-correlation DOA estimator lead to resolution improvement for both narrowband and wideband acoustic sources. © 2023 IEEE.

Achieving Room-Temperature ppb-Level H2S Detection in a Au-SnO2 Sensor with Low Voltage Enhancement Effect

Although semiconductor metal oxide-based sensors are promising for gas sensing, low-power and room temperature operation (24 ± 1 °C) remains desirable for practical applications particularly considering the request of energy saving or net zero emission. In this study, we demonstrate a Au/SnO2-based ultrasensitive H2S gas sensor with a limit of detection (LOD) of 2 ppb, operating at very low voltages (0.05 to 0.5 V) at room temperature. The Au/SnO2-based sensor showed approximately 7 times higher response (the ratio of change in the current to initial current) of ∼270% and 4 times faster recovery (126 s) compared to the pure SnO2-based sensor when exposed to 500 ppb H2S gas concentration at 0.5 V operating voltage at relative humidity (RH) 17.5 ± 2.5%. The enhancement can be attributed to the catalytic characteristics of AuNPs, increasing the number of adsorbed oxygen species on sensing material surfaces. Additionally, AuNPs aid in forming flower-petal-like Au/SnO2 nanostructures, offering a larger surface area and more active sites for H2S sensing. Moreover, at low voltage (2 interface may further enhance the absorption of polar oxygen molecules and hence promote the reaction between H2S and oxygen species. This low-power, ultrasensitive H2S sensor outperforms high-powered alternatives, making it ideal for environmental, food safety, and healthcare applications. © 2024 The Authors.
