Oxidative mechanism of chicken wooden breast myofibrillar protein

To explore the oxidation mechanism of wooden breast myofibrillar protein(WBMP),oxidative breast MP(OBMP)was obtained from different doses(3,10,and 20 mmol/L)of H2O2 oxidized normal breast MP(NBMP).The results showed that the Zeta-potential,particle size,solubility,sulfhydryl,and carbonyl contents of OBMP-3(3 mmol/L,low-dose free radicals)and WBMP were *** spectrum analysis showed that the oxidation of low-dose free radicals led to a significant increase in the surface hydrophobicity(from 214.03±10.03 to 393.50±10.33)and tryptophan fluorescence intensity(from 185.71 to 568.32).In addition,theα-helix content of WBMP decreased significantly from(37.46±1.15)%(NBMP)to(34.70±2.04)%,whileβ-sheet and random coil contents increased significantly(P<0.05)from(14.37±0.69)%and(22.24±0.78)%(NBMP)to(17.70±0.87)%and(25.20±1.47)%(WBMP).In summary,low-dose free radical oxidation attacks protein groups,inducing secondary and tertiary structural changes,leading to the formation of *** work will provide a theoretical basis at the molecular level for exploring the mechanism of functional degradation of WBMP.

Co_(3)O_(4)as an efficient passive NO_(x) adsorber for emission control during cold-start of diesel engines

The Co_(3)O_(4)nanoparticles,dominated by a catalytically active(110)lattice plane,were synthesized as a low-temperature NO_(x) adsorbent to control the cold start emissions from *** nanoparticles boast a substantial quantity of active chemisorbed oxygen and lattice oxygen,which exhibited a NO_(x) uptake capacity commensurate with Pd/SSZ-13 at 100℃.The primary NO_(x) release temperature falls within a temperature range of 200-350℃,making it perfectly suitable for diesel *** characterization results demonstrate that chemisorbed oxygen facilitate nitro/nitrites intermediates formation,contributing to the NO_(x) storage at 100℃,while the nitrites begin to decompose within the 150-200℃***,lattice oxygen likely becomes involved in the activation of nitrites into more stable nitrate within this particular temperature *** concurrent processes of nitrites decomposition and its conversion to nitrates results in a minimal NO_(x) release between the temperatures of 150-200℃.The nitrate formed via lattice oxygen mainly induces the NO_(x) to be released as NO_(2) within a temperature range of 200-350℃,which is advantageous in enhancing the NO_(x) activity of downstream NH_(3)-SCR catalysts,by boosting the fast SCR reaction *** to its low cost,considerable NO_(x) absorption capacity,and optimal release temperature,Co_(3)O_(4)demonstrates potential as an effective material for passive NO_(x) adsorber applications.

One-pot Synthesis of MoO_(3)/PI Composite with Enhanced Photocatalytic Performance for Oxidative Coupling of Amines to Imines

Organic-inorganic MoO_(3)/PI(MoPI)composites were prepared using a simple one-pot thermal copolymerization *** resulting composites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity for the selective oxidation of benzylamine to N-benzylidene benzylamine(N-BDBA)in ambient air under simulated solar light irradiation compared to pristine MoO_(3) or polyimide(PI).In particular,the MoPI composite with a 0.3:1 molar ratio of Mo to melamine,referred to as MoPI-0.3,demonstrated the best performance in the photo-oxidation of benzylamine,achieving a benzylamine conversion of 95%with a N-BDBA selectivity exceeding 99%after 3 h *** enhanced photocatalytic activity of the MoPI-0.3 catalyst was attributed to the formation of a direct Z-scheme heterojunction between MoO_(3) and PI,facilitating more efficient separation of the photoinduced electrons and ***,the MoPI-0.3 composite maintained considerably high activity over four consecutive cycles,highlighting its good stability and ***,the MoPI-0.3 composite could photo-oxidize benzylamine derivatives and heterocyclic amines to their corresponding imines,demonstrating the universal applicability of this composite catalyst.

Polychlorinated naphthalenes(PCNs)are detrimental to human health and the *** the commercial production of PCNs banned,unintentional releases have emerged as a significant environmental ***,relevant information is still *** this study,provincial emissions for eight PCNs homologues from 37 sources in the Chinese mainland during the period of 1960-2019 were estimated based on a source-specific and time-varying emission factor *** results showed that the total PCNs emissions in 2019 reached 757.0 kg with Hebei ranked at the top among all the provinces and iron&steel industry as the biggest ***-chlorinated PCNs comprised 90%of emissions by mass,while highly chlorinated PCNs dominated in terms of toxicity,highlighting divergent priorities for mitigating emissions and safeguarding human *** emissions showed an overall upward trend from 1960 to 2019 driven by emission increase from iron&steel industry in terms of source,and from North China and East China in terms of geographic ***-capita emissions followed an inverted U-shaped environmental Kuznets curvewhile emission intensities decreased with increasing per-capita Gross Domestic Product(GDP)following a nearly linear pattern when log-transformed.

Comparison of exogenous degrader-enhanced bioremediation with low-dose persulfate oxidation for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon removal in alkaline soil:efficiency and influence on ecological health

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH)-contaminated soils are usually complex and characterized by a lack of nutrition and soil salinization,resulting in difficulties in soil *** this study,bioaugmentation with a PAH-degrading Bacillus PheN7(BA)and low-dose persulfate oxidation(PS),along with natural biodegradation,were utilized to remediate alkaline PAH-contaminated *** soil used in the study had a pH of 9.35,and the total PAH content was 568.8±31.0 mg/kg dry *** 42 d of remediation,the degradation efficiency of PAHs was 96.72%and 93.88%using persulfate oxidation and bioaugmentation,respectively,whereas 38.66%of PAHs were degraded in natural attenuation(NA).Bacillus was the dominant genera throughout the process of bioremediation with the relative abundance of 79.3%on day 42 in the BA system,whereas,Alcanivorax was enriched and became the dominant genera in PS *** the meantime,PAH degradation genes were detected with remarkably higher level in the BA system than in PS system during the *** addition to the degradation of contaminants,persulfate oxidation promotes microbial bioremediation efficiency mainly by lowering the pH to neutral and increasing the active phosphorus content in the *** species and ecological niches were less reduced in the PS system than in the BA ***,persulfate oxidation had a better impact on the soil microbiome and is more suitable for long-term soil health than bioaugmentation through PheN7 addition.

The booming development of rare earth industry and the extensive utilization of its products accompanied by urban development have led to the accelerated accumulation of rare earth elements(REEs)as emerging pollutants in atmospheric *** this study,the variation of REEs in PM_(2.5)with urban(a non-mining city)transformation was investigated through five consecutive years of sample *** compositional variability and provenance contribution of REEs in PM_(2.5)were characterized,and the REEs exposure risks of children and adults via inhalation,ingestion and dermal absorption were also *** results showed an increase in the total REEs concentration from 46.46±35.16 mg/kg(2017)to 81.22±38.98 mg/kg(2021)over the five-year period,with Ce and La making the largest *** actual increment of industrial and traffic emission source among the three pollution sources was 1.34 ng/m^(3).Coal combustion source displayed a downward *** was the main exposure pathway for REEs in PM_(2.5)for both children and *** contributed the most to the total intake of REEs in PM_(2.5)among the population,followed by La and *** exposure risks of REEs in PM_(2.5)in the region were relatively low,but the trend of change was of great *** was strongly recommended to strengthen the concern about traffic-related non-exhaust emissions of particulate matter.

A Metal-free Polyimide Photocatalyst for the Oxidation of Amines to Imines

Polyimide(PI) is an organic polymer material with good stability and diverse sources that has attracted widespread attention in the field of photocatalysis. In this study, a series of PI photocatalysts were synthesized by a thermal polymerization approach using pyromellitic dianhydride(PMDA) and various diamine monomers(melamine(MA), 4,4′-oxydianiline, and melem) as the precursors as well as different heating rates. The effects of the diamine precursor and heating rate on the structure, composition, morphology, and optical properties of the as-prepared PI materials were systematically investigated by various characterization techniques. The selective photo-oxidation of benzylamine was used as a model reaction to evaluate the photocatalytic activities of the resulting PI samples for the oxidation of amines to imines. The results revealed that the PI sample prepared using MA and PMDA as the precursors and a heating rate of 7 ℃/min(MA-PI-7) exhibited the best catalytic performance, with 98% benzylamine conversion and 98% selectivity for N-benzylidene benzylamine after 4 h of irradiation. Several benzylamine derivatives and heterocyclic amines also underwent the photo-oxidation reaction over the MA-PI-7 catalyst to afford the corresponding imines with good activity. In addition, MA-PI-7 exhibited good stability over four successive photocatalytic cycles.

Antagonistic interaction between caffeine and ketamine in zebrafish: Implications for aquatic toxicity

The coexistence of caffeine(CF)and ketamine(KET)in surface waters across Asia has been widely *** studies have implied that CF and KET may share a mechanism of ***,the combined toxicity of these two chemicals on aquatic organisms remains unclear at environmental levels,and the underlying mechanisms are not well *** we demonstrate that KET antagonizes the adverse effects of CF on zebrafish larvae by modulating the gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA)ergic synapse ***,KET(10e250 ng L^(-1))ameliorates the locomotor hyperactivity and impaired circadian rhythms in zebrafish larvae induced by 2 mg L^(-1) of CF,showing a dose-dependent ***,the developmental abnormalities in zebrafish larvae exposed to CF are mitigated by KET,with an incidence rate reduced from 26.7%to 6.7%.The competition between CF and KET for binding sites on the GABA-A receptor(in situ and in silico)elucidates the antagonistic interactions between the two *** a seven-day recovery period,the adverse outcomes of CF exposure persist in the fish,whereas the changes observed in the CFþKET groups are significantly alleviated,especially with KET at 10 ng L^(-1).Based on these results,it is imperative to further assess the environmental risks associated with CF and KET *** pilot study underscores the utility of systems toxicology approaches in estimating the combined toxicity of environmental chemicals on aquatic ***,the nighttime behavioral functions of fish could serve as a sensitive biomarker for evaluating the toxicity of psychoactive substances.

Coriander(Coriandrum sativum L.)is recognized for its antioxidant property,as a kind of natural phenolic-rich *** aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)present a class of heat-driven hazards in foods,especially the processed *** this study,the effect of coriander root and leaf extract on the formation and inhibition of PAH8 in roasted duck wings was firstly *** root extract(CRE)and coriander leaf extract(CLE)with five concentration groups(200,400,600,800,1000 mg/L)were prepared respectively to marinate the duck *** marinade exhibited greater inhibitory effect on PAH8 formation in roasted duck wings that ranged from 65.0%-87.4%.The electron spin resonance study indicated a significantly positive correlation between PAH8 and free radical level,suggesting the participation of radicals in PAHs ***,it was speculated that the inhibitory effect on PAH8 was related to the phenolic compounds identified in coriander *** made greater inhibitory effect on the formation of PAH8 and could be considered as a kind of natural source to mitigate PAHs in heat-processed meat products.

This study mainly monitored the dominant bacterial populations and identified the spoilage-related microorganisms of braised chicken meat stored under different CO_(2)-modified atmosphere packaging(MAP)during refrigerated storage using a culture-dependent method and 16S rDNA *** quality changes and shelf life of the meat were also *** growth rate of total viable count(TVC)in braised chicken was slower with an increase of CO_(2) content in MAP,which also occurred in the remaining bacterial species monitored(lactic acid bacteria,Pseudomonas spp.,Brochothrix thermosphacta).The MAP exerted beneficial effects on the quality of braised chicken,as demonstrated by retarding the production of total volatile basic nitrogen(TVB-N)and delaying lipid oxidation(TBARS test).A total of 14 isolates were identified from braised chickens with different packaging at the end of storage,these included ***(6 isolates),***(2 isolates),Enterococcus faecalis(3 isolates),***(2 isolates),Staphylococcus equorum(1 isolate).
