MULSAM: Multidimensional Attention with Hardware Acceleration for Efficient Intrusion Detection on Vehicular CAN Bus

controller Area Network (CAN) protocol is an efficient standard enabling communication among Electronic control Units (ECUs). However, the CAN bus is vulnerable to malicious attacks because of a lack of defense features. In this article, a novel vehicle Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is developed. The challenge is that existing techniques of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) rarely consider attacks with small-batch, which are characterized by their small attack scale and concealed attack patterns, posing a significant threat to driving safety. To solve this problem, we developed an algorithm model that merges Multi-dimensional Long Short-Term Memory (MD-LSTM) and Self-Attention Mechanism (SAM), shortly named MULSAM. The MULSAM model was compared with other baseline models, including Stacked LSTM, MD-LSTM, etc. Experiments show that our approach has the best detection accuracy (98.98%) and training stability. Further, to speed up the inference of MULSAM on edge, the hardware accelerator is implemented on FPGA devices using technologies such as parallelization, modular, pipeline, and fixed-point quantization. Experiments show that our FPGA-based acceleration scheme has a better energy efficiency than the CPU platform. Even with a certain degree of quantification, the acceleration model for MULSAM still displays a high detection accuracy of 98.81% and a low latency of 1.88 ms. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

High Precision Soft-Switching Converter with Low Voltage Stress and Fast Response Characteristic Based on SiC Power Devices

Due to the characteristic of no blanking time, dual buck topology is attractive in high precision applications and the bias current is injected to eliminate zero crossing distortion. However, with the extending of bus voltage, it is difficult to ensure the current response speed and accuracy due to the limitation of bias current operation and the impact of parasitic parameters of switching devices. Thus, this paper proposes a low voltage stress resonant dual buck soft-switching topology combined with SiC power device for achieving fast response and high precision. At first, the principle of the bias current and soft-switching topology is introduced. Then combined with the bias current decoupling and the realization of zero current switching (ZCS) and zero voltage switching (ZVS), the control strategy is analyzed. Moreover, based on the resonant circuit considering parasitic parameters, the factors that affect the voltage and current stress are presented. Finally, a prototype of 500 V bus voltage with 100 kHz switching frequency is built to verify the theory analysis © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Multi-Keypoint Affordance Representation for Functional Dexterous Grasping

Functional dexterous grasping requires precise hand-object interaction, going beyond simple gripping. Existing affordance-based methods primarily predict coarse interaction regions and cannot directly constrain the grasping posture, leading to a disconnection between visual perception and manipulation. To address this issue, we propose a multi-keypoint affordance representation for functional dexterous grasping, which directly encodes task-driven grasp configurations by localizing functional contact points. Our method introduces Contact-guided Multi-Keypoint Affordance (CMKA), leveraging human grasping experience images for weak supervision combined with Large Vision Models for fine affordance feature extraction, achieving generalization while avoiding manual keypoint annotations. Additionally, we present a Keypoint-based Grasp matrix Transformation (KGT) method, ensuring spatial consistency between hand keypoints and object contact points, thus providing a direct link between visual perception and dexterous grasping actions. Experiments on public real-world FAH datasets, IsaacGym simulation, and challenging robotic tasks demonstrate that our method significantly improves affordance localization accuracy, grasp consistency, and generalization to unseen tools and tasks, bridging the gap between visual affordance learning and dexterous robotic manipulation. Brain-computer interface (BCI) actively translates the brain signals into executable actions by establishing direct communication between the human brain and external devices. Recording brain activity through electroencephalography (EEG) is generally contaminated with both physiological and nonphysiological artifacts, which significantly hinders the BCI performance. Artifact subspace reconstruction (ASR) is a well-known statistical technique that automatically removes artifact components by determining the rejection threshold based on the initial reference EEG segment in multichannel EEG recordings. In real-world applications, the fixed threshold may limit the efficacy of the artifact correction, especially when the quality of the reference data is poor. This study proposes an adaptive online ASR technique by integrating the Hebbian/anti-Hebbian neural networks into the ASR algorithm, namely, principle subspace projection ASR (PSP-ASR) and principal subspace whitening ASR (PSW-ASR) that segmentwise self-organize the artifact subspace by updating the synaptic weights according to the Hebbian and anti-Hebbian learning rules. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is compared to the conventional ASR approaches on benchmark EEG dataset and three BCI frameworks, including steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP), rapid serial visual presentation (RSVP), and motor imagery (MI) by evaluating the root-mean-square error (RMSE), the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the Pearson correlation, and classification accuracy. The results demonstrated that the PSW-ASR algorithm effectively removed the EEG artifacts and retained the activity-specific brain signals compared to the PSP-ASR, standard ASR (Init-ASR), and moving-window ASR (MW-ASR) methods, thereby enhancing the SSVEP, RSVP, and MI BCI performances. To acquire per-hop flow-level information, existing works have made significant contributions to offloading network measurement onto data center switches. Despite this, they still pose challenges due to increasingly complex measurement tasks and massive network traffic. In this paper, we introduce FlowTracker, a flow measurement primitive in the data plane. Our key innovation is a hash-based data structure with constant size and collision resolution, which allows fine-grained and real-time monitoring of various flow statistics. We have fully implemented a FlowTracker prototype on a testbed and used real-world packet traces to evaluate its performance. The results demonstrate FlowTracker’s efficiency under different measurement tasks. In addition, FlowTracker requires low overhead, as well as ∼0.04% extra bandwidth for processing in large-scale networks. With FlowTracker, operators can gain a deeper understanding of their networks and make more accurate flow control decisions. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the developments of the Internet of Things, the demands of low latency, high bandwidth and high-performance computing has increased higher. Therefore, the distributed computing named Fog Computing has proposed to solve the problem above. Fog computing can provide lower transmission latency, faster response time and less network congestion. However, the fog devices are unable to guarantee the security and privacy of data transmission, due to they are vulnerable to attack. Blockchain technology works as a decentralized public ledger to store and share transactions. Blockchain can improve security and protect data privacy of Fog Computing. Moreover, there are still issues in the blockchain-enabled Fog Computing, the two main issues are the energy consumption and computing efficiency. Thus, in this paper, we propose an optimization framework for blockchain-enabled Fog Computing systems to optimize resource allocation. Besides, we adopt the dueling deep reinforcement learning to obtain the optimal resource allocation strategy, with dynamically selecting the fog server, offloading decision, block size. Simulation results show that the proposed framework can reduce the energy consumption and computation overhead of the system, as well as can improve the computing efficiency. © 2022 ACM.

In the increasingly digitized world, the privacy and security of sensitive data shared via IoT devices are paramount. Traditional privacy-preserving methods like k-anonymity and ldiversity are becoming outdated due to technological advancements. In addition, data owners often worry about misuse and unauthorized access to their personal information. To address this, we propose a secure data-sharing framework that uses local differential privacy (LDP) within a permissioned blockchain, enhanced by federated learning (FL) in a zero-trust environment. To further protect sensitive data shared by IoT devices, we use the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) and cryptographic hash functions to create unique digital fingerprints for files. We mainly evaluate our system based on latency, throughput, privacy accuracy, and transaction efficiency, comparing the performance to a benchmark model. The experimental results show that the proposed system outperforms its counterpart in terms of latency, throughput, and transaction efficiency. The proposed model achieved a lower average latency of 4.0 seconds compared to the benchmark model’s 5.3 seconds. In terms of throughput, the proposed model achieved a higher throughput of 10.53 TPS (transactions per second) compared to the benchmark model’s 8 TPS. Reentrancy vulnerabilities in Ethereum smart contracts have caused huge financial losses in recent years, promoting the development of reentrancy detection tools. Evaluation of reentrancy detection tools has emerged as an essential research focus consequently. However, despite numerous reentrancy detection evaluation approaches, there is no systematically classified set of reentrancy vulnerabilities in evaluation. This oversight may result in a limited understanding of the actual effectiveness of reentrancy detection tools. This paper employs mutation testing to generate classified sets of reentrancy vulnerabilities and evaluate reentrancy detection tools. To determine the types of reentrancy that can be mutated, we use symbolic execution to identify potential reentrancy paths in smart contracts. For each reentrancy type, we design one to three mutation operators. Then, we employ pattern matching to locate statements where mutation operators can be applied, thus generating sets of reentrancy vulnerabilities of different types. We implemented and compared our mutation testing tool with other tools. Results show that we generated at least 29% more classified reentrancy mutants. Furthermore, we evaluated two state-of-the-art reentrancy detection tools based on the classified reentrancy mutants. The findings provide directions for advancing reentrancy detection tools.
