In this paper, a novel control strategy based on model predictive control is proposed for tracking the trajectory of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). First, the dynamic model of an unmanned aerial vehicle UAV is established by considering the linear velocities in terms of the analyzed system's attitude angles. The UAV's dynamic model is suitable for kinematic control by using two attitude angles as control inputs. The controller design is made up of an output feedback controller formed by the error variables, which are the difference between the measured output and the reference variables. Then, a model predictive control is established by considering an optimization problem with a performance index and the corresponding constraints. Furthermore, the stochastic properties of the UAV dynamic model are taken into account in this research study. The measured outputs provided by the sensors are constrained by the topological characteristics of the unmanned aerial vehicle to be analyzed. Finally, a numerical experiment and its conclusions are presented, demonstrating that the proposed control strategy provides optimal trajectory tracking. © 2022 IEEE.

In medical practice, the precision of image segmentation is crucial for diagnosis and treatment evaluations. Specifically, in dentistry, accurate teeth segmentation from bite-wing images is important for automatic and objective evaluations of root canal treatments. This study introduces Swin-U2 Net, a model merging the nested dual UNet with residual U-block and Swin Transformers. It combines the local feature extraction capability of the former and the global attention and context understanding of the latter. It has been evaluated for tooth root segmentation using 500 bite-wing dental x-ray images obtained from a root canal treatment clinic. It achieved the best segmentation outcome in terms of Intersection over Union (IOU) and the third best result in terms of Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) with the second least amount of network parameters among six UNet-like models, thus it is effective and efficient. © 2024 IEEE.

In view of the imbalance of upstream and downstream flows in the access of local manufacturing resources, this paper proposes a dynamic adjustment algorithm based on bandwidth fair allocation (DAPFBA, Dynamic Adjustment of Packet based on Fair Bandwidth Allocation), which dynamically adjusts the packet size of nodes according to the number of downflows and realizes the downstream throughput balance, so as to realize the fair distribution of upstream and downstream bandwidth. According to the actual situation of the network, the algorithm can be implemented in the AP without modifying the MAC of other wireless nodes, which saves the workload of the implementation. Especially in the case of more and scattered wireless nodes, it only needs to modify the AP without modifying other nodes, eliminating a lot of work to configure the decentralized nodes. © 2022 IEEE.

Cloud computing attracts increasing attention in processing dynamic computing tasks and automating the software development and operation pipeline. In many cases, the computing tasks have strict deadlines. The cloud resource manager (e.g., orchestrator) effectively manages the resources and provides tasks Quality of Service (QoS). Cloud task scheduling is tricky due to the dynamic nature of task workload and resource availability. Reinforcement Learning (RL) has attracted lots of research attention in scheduling. However, those RL-based approaches suffer from low scheduling performance robustness when the task workload and resource availability change, particularly when handling time-critical tasks. This paper focuses on both challenges of robustness and deadline guarantee among such RL, specifically Deep RL (DRL)-based scheduling approaches. We quantify the robustness measurements as the retraining time and investigate how to improve both robustness and deadline guarantee of DRL-based scheduling. We propose MLR-TC-DRLS, a practical, robust Meta Deep Reinforcement Learning-based scheduling solution to provide time-critical tasks deadline guarantee and fast adaptation under highly dynamic situations. We comprehensively evaluate MLR-TC-DRLS performance against RL-based and RL advanced variants-based scheduling approaches using real-world and synthetic data. The evaluations validate that our proposed approach improves the scheduling performance robustness of typical DRL variants scheduling approaches with 97%–98.5% deadline guarantees and 200%–500% faster adaptation. © 2023 The Author(s)

GENERAL-PURPOSE MULTI-MODAL OOD DETECTION FRAMEWORK

Out-of-distribution (OOD) detection identifies test samples that differ from the training data, which is critical to ensuring the safety and reliability of machine learning (ML) systems. While a plethora of methods have been developed to detect uni-modal OOD samples, only a few have focused on multi-modal OOD detection. Current contrastive learning-based methods primarily study multi-modal OOD detection in a scenario where both a given image and its corresponding textual description come from a new domain. However, real-world deployments of ML systems may face more anomaly scenarios caused by multiple factors like sensor faults, bad weather, and environmental changes. Hence, the goal of this work is to simultaneously detect from multiple different OOD scenarios in a fine-grained manner. To reach this goal, we propose a general-purpose weakly-supervised OOD detection framework, called WOOD, that combines a binary classifier and a contrastive learning component to reap the benefits of both. In order to better distinguish the latent representations of in-distribution (ID) and OOD samples, we adopt the Hinge loss to constrain their similarity. Furthermore, we develop a new scoring metric to integrate the prediction results from both the binary classifier and contrastive learning for identifying OOD samples. We evaluate the proposed WOOD model on multiple real-world datasets, and the experimental results demonstrate that the WOOD model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for multi-modal OOD detection. Importantly, our approach is able to achieve high accuracy in OOD detection in three different OOD scenarios simultaneously. The source code will be made publicly available upon publication. The brain is the most sophisticated and complex organ in the human body. Nowadays, diagnosing complex and diverse brain diseases is a hot topic. Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and others are common brain diseases. With the increased usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical image analysis, the endeavor to make AI comprehend brain images for assisting doctors in making objective diagnoses of brain diseases has gained considerable attention. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) is a widely used tool for diagnosing and analyzing brain ***, the Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) method constructs a dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) network using a fixed window size. However, this method has limitations as it is challenging to extract potential high-level features from the dFC and determine local feature relevance. This paper presents a method for constructing dFC based on multi-scale sliding windows and proposes Multi-scale Convolutional Neural Networks (MsCNN) for learning and analyzing dFC at various scales. Finally, a deep fusion of features learned at different scales is employed for the diagnostic classification of brain *** to the rs-fMRI dataset from ADNI, the classification accuracy was 84.0% for eMCI/lMCI, 84.4% for lMCI/AD, and 58.4% for NC/eMCI/lMCI/AD. Applied to rs-fMRI data from ABIDE, the accuracy was 74.7% for ASD/NC. The proposed method exhibits robust classification performance and introduces a new approach to diagnosing other brain diseases.

High node mobility, rapid topology changes provide specific challenges for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), which have an immediate impact on the routing protocols' performance. Traditional approaches, like the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol, provide proactive route management but fail to fully account for critical dynamic parameters like link stability, relative vehicle speed, node distance, and bandwidth availability. This work proposes a hybrid method combining OLSR with Q-learning to facilitate real-time adaptive routing. The model leverages dynamic metrics to proactively evaluate links while employing Q-learning to optimize routing decisions based on rewards computed from performance factors like delay, packet loss rate, and link duration. Simulation results demonstrate that our approach significantly outperforms classic OLSR. The improvements include reduced packet loss rates, increased average throughput, lower average latency, and a reduction in control overhead. These findings confirm that integrating dynamic metrics and adaptive learning effectively addresses the challenges posed by VANETs.

The House Tree Person (HTP) test is widely recommended for clinical application of mental illness. Traditionally, therapists assess a patient's mental state by analyzing the content of their HTP drawings manually, which is time-consuming and susceptible to the therapist's subjective influences. Recently, using intelligent diagnostic models to tackle HTP test has attracted much attention. However, most existing models attempt to make a binary classification for HTP drawings, i.e., positive or negative psychological states, making details that can reflect the psychological state of the patient lost. To address the above challenge, in this paper, we introduce the semantic segmentation task into the HTP test for the first time to generate pixel-level semantic information. We first construct a semantic segmentation dataset about HTP psychological diagnosis named HTPSeg. Subsequently, to overcome the domain gap between HTP drawings and natural images, we propose to use the Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) fine-tuning strategy to adapt the Segment Anything Model (SAM) to the task of HTP drawing analysis. Specifically, we integrate the rank decomposition matrices into the projection layer of the transformer block in SAM's image encoder for fine-tuning. Additionally, we freeze the Mask Decoder and fine-tune the Prompt Encoder using default embeddings. Extensive experiments indicate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method.
