In the past few years, learned video compression has received increasing attention. However, most current learned methods rely on the bilinear warping operations in motion compensation, which is equivalent to a low-pass filtering operation and brings the distortion of reconstruction. To address this problem, we propose a spatial-temporal motion compensation for learned video compression (STMC-LVC). STMC-LVC uses a spatial-temporal motion compensation network (STMC-Net) to fully consider the spatial-temporal correlation between successive frames, performing accurate motion compensation. Specifically, STMC-Net mainly consists of the initial feature prediction module and the fusion module. The initial feature prediction module predicts reference features based on DCN to provide sufficient information for motion compensation. The fusion module obtains temporal attention information by calculating the similarity between features, performs spatial attention operations, and finally performs spatial-temporal fusion, further improving the robustness of motion compensation. In addition, STMC-LVC uses a conditional coding framework. We use a concatenation of the current feature and predicted feature as context to explore spatial-temporal correlations in feature space. Experimental results show that our method effectively improves video compression. Specifically, our model achieves an average of 33.86% and 58.70% bitrate savings than x265 (veryslow) on PSNR and MS-SSIM, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to over-abundant information on the Web, information filtering becomes a key task for online users to obtain relevant suggestions and how to extract the most related item is always a key topic for researchers in various fields. In this paper, we adopt tools used to analyze complex networks to evaluate user reputation and item quality. In our proposed Accumulative Time Based Ranking (ATR) algorithm, we take into account the growth record of the network to identify the evolution of the reputation of users and the quality of items, by incorporating two behavior weighting factors which can capture the hidden facts on reputation and quality dynamics for each user and item respectively. Our proposed ATR algorithm mainly combines the iterative approach to rank user reputation and item quality with temporal dependence compared with other reputation evaluation methods. We show that our algorithm outperforms other benchmark ranking algorithms in terms of precision and robustness on empirical datasets from various online retailers and the citation datasets among research publications. Therefore, our proposed method has the capability to effectively evaluate user reputation and item quality.

Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) refer to the synergistic or antagonistic effects between different drugs. Synergistic effects can enhance therapeutic efficacy, while antagonistic effects may reduce efficacy or even trigger adverse reactions, worsening the patient's condition. Most existing DDI prediction studies overlook the features of chemical bonds between atoms within drug molecules and the interaction types between drug pairs, which to some extent limits the accuracy and reliability of the predictions. In view of this, we have designed a novel framework called KGE-DDI, which leverages knowledge graph embedding (KGE) technology to enhance the prediction of DDIs. Specifically, for individual drug molecules, KGE-DDI first integrates the features of atoms and chemical bond. Then, by introducing attention mechanisms and graph neural network technology, it learns representations of the drug molecules. For pairs of drug molecules, KGE-DDI models their interactions utilizing atom-level Pearson correlation matrices. Finally, it predicts the interactions between drug pairs by employing our designed scoring function. We conducted comprehensive experiments under both transductive and inductive settings, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of KGE-DDI in three scenarios: (existing drug, existing drug), (new drug, new drug), and (new drug, existing drug). © 2024 IEEE.

There's growing recognition of how machine learning can revolutionize the precision and swiftness of clinical diagnoses by improving the classification of white blood cells. However, a machine learning model specialized in white blood cell classification demands access to a large trove of well-annotated data. This poses a challenge, as in the medical field, annotating data comprehensively comes with a high cost in terms of both money and time. To circumvent this, domain adaptation (DA) techniques are employed to leverage similar cell images from related domains, thereby boosting the model's performance in white blood cell classification in specific contexts. Among the myriad DA approaches available for this application, including TCA-based and deep learning methods, all typically suffer from lengthy training durations. Addressing this challenge, we introduce a novel DA method inspired by the random vector functional link (RVFL) network, a type of neural network characterized by its random weights. Our proposed method, named Domain Adaptation Random Vector Functional Link (DA-RVFL), capitalizes on the efficiency of RVFL networks to enhance white blood cell classification. This innovative approach shows some insights for future research in the efficient and effective classification of white blood cells. © 2024 IEEE.

Semantic consistency assisted change detection in remote sensing images

Semantic change detection of remote sensing images plays an important role in ecological environment, land use, and land cover monitoring. In recent years, deep learning-based change detection methods are the hotspot of remote sensing intelligent interpretation concern;however, the existing three-branch semantic change detection methods lack consistency of change branch and semantic branches, which leads to the self-contradiction of the bitemporal semantic change detection. To address this problem, this study proposes a remote sensing image semantic change detection algorithm based on Siamese CNN and Transformer. In the encoding stage, the Siamese ResNet34 network is first designed to extract the multiscale features of the image, and the difference enhancement module is embedded to increase the attention of the change information;then, the semantic tokenizer is used to map the feature map into compact semantic tokens, and the Transformer encoder is used to combine the bitemporal semantics and the change information to model the"semantic change"consistency. In the decoding stage, different fine-grained semantic information is fused by the Transformer decoder using a hopping connection to generate a refined semantic feature map. Finally, the result of bitemporal semantic change is obtained after upsampling recovery and mask multiplication. Experimental results on the remote sensing semantic change detection public dataset SECOND and Landsat-SCD show that the proposed algorithm can effectively focus on the change region, maintain the consistency between the change results and the semantic results, and achieve excellent evaluation indexes and visual effects. We can draw the following conclusions: (1) The proposed difference enhancement module can enhance the difference characteristics of bitemporal remote sensing images and improve the network’s focus on change information. Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

Surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms (SAEAs) have demonstrated promising optimization performance in addressing expensive dynamic optimization problems or expensive multimodal optimization problems. However, none of existing SAEAs are designed specifically for tackling expensive dynamic multimodal optimization problems (EDMMOPs). Therefore, in this paper, a first SAEA for tackling EDMMOPs is proposed. First, a nearest density clustering is designed to divide the population into a number of subpopulations, enhancing the diversity of the population. Then, a surrogate-assisted evolutionary optimizer is developed to construct surrogate models for each subpopulation and evolve all solutions in subpopulations by means of the built surrogate models, accelerating the population's converge towards several optimal solutions rapidly. Finally, a transfer learning-based prediction is devised to generate initial samples for next environment by leveraging the stored training samples in the previous environments. To assess the performance of our proposed algorithm, a set of complex benchmark problems is adopted, and the experimental results confirm its superior performance over several competitive algorithms on most test cases. © 2024 IEEE.

Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is a retina disorder that affects premature infants with lower weights. If the patient cannot get the treatment in time when the illness reaches the last stage, irreversible vision loss will be caused. Nevertheless, there has been relatively little consideration given to the segmentation of the ridge, the key clinical characteristic of the illness. Additionally, existing research has not adequately addressed several segmentation issues, such as fragmentary topology, class imbalance, and false positives. This paper proposes a Densely Dilated U-Net (DD-UNet) improved from U-Net to tackle these challenges. Furthermore, the post-processing techniques based on the spatial relationship between vessels and ridges, along with the relative pixel counts of ridges and false positive results is integrated to mitigate false positive results in the predicted ridge. To enhance the precision of thin vessel, a sliding window sampling method is introduced for refined training. Compared with the state-of-the-art models in medical image segmentation, DD-UNet performs well in curvilinear structure segmentation of fundus image. For instance, our DD-UNet outperforms the Attention U-Net by 6.26% in terms of sensitivity and exhibits a 1.85% higher dice score in ridge segmentation. © 2023 IEEE.

To effectively address the issue of inadequate accuracy and timeliness in industrial data classification, this paper proposes a fusion classification model based on time series (DT-RF-MLP) for loss prediction of electrical work equipment. Firstly, data information is extracted from the dataset and features are constructed based on the data information to enhance the diversity of data features. Secondly, redundant and highly correlated features are removed by quantifying the correlation degree between the features to simplify the model inputs. On this basis, a fusion classification model is constructed and comparative experiments are conducted with a single model to validate the advantages of the fusion model in terms of prediction performance. The experimental results demonstrate that the model markedly enhances prediction accuracy while concurrently reducing the duration of the model run. © 2024 IEEE.
