Efficient network management scheme for device-to-device communication using channel indicators

Device-to-Device (D2D) communication maneuvers the proximity services for flexible communication between two nearby devices. It provides high data rates and enhances the spectral and energy efficiency of the D2D communication systems. The base station plays an important role in allocating cellular resources to D2D users. However, it suffers from challenges, such as interference, inefficient resource allocation, security, device discovery, and many more, which may deteriorate the performance of D2D communication. To overcome the aforementioned issues, in this paper, we present an analytics-based efficient network selection scheme that utilizes the reference channel indicators, i.e., receive strength signal indicator, received signal received power, and reference signal received quality to select the best micro base station (MBS) between the D2D user. We evaluated the proposed scheme in five different simulated scenarios wherein each scenario, there are a different number of MBS and D2D pairs. The MBS broadcasts the reference channel indicators at a specific interval of time, and the D2D pairs select the MBS that has the most promising indicator. Finally, all the proposed scenarios are compared and evaluated against the sum rate to analyze the performance of D2D communication with the reference channel indicators. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Due to the dynamic nature and node mobility,assuring the security of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks(MANET)is one of the difficult and challenging tasks *** MANET,the Intrusion Detection System(IDS)is crucial because it aids in the identification and detection of malicious attacks that impair the network’s regular *** machine learning and deep learning methodologies are used for this purpose in the conventional works to ensure increased security of ***,it still has significant flaws,including increased algorithmic complexity,lower system performance,and a higher rate of ***,the goal of this paper is to create an intelligent IDS framework for significantly enhancing MANET security through the use of deep learning ***,the min-max normalization model is applied to preprocess the given cyber-attack datasets for normalizing the attributes or fields,which increases the overall intrusion detection performance of ***,a novel Adaptive Marine Predator Optimization Algorithm(AOMA)is implemented to choose the optimal features for improving the speed and intrusion detection performance of ***,the Deep Supervise Learning Classification(DSLC)mechanism is utilized to predict and categorize the type of intrusion based on proper learning and training *** evaluation,the performance and results of the proposed AOMA-DSLC based IDS methodology is validated and compared using various performance measures and benchmarking datasets.

Attributed Network Clustering through Mutual Affinity Propagated Non-negative Matrix Factorization

Attributed Network Clustering (ANC) has garnered significant attention in research for identifying communities within a complex network like a social, biological, or information network. Generally, such networks are represented as a graph where the nodes denote entities and edges are relationships between two adjacent nodes. In real-world networks, nodes are associated with attributes to express their properties. In this context, a community is defined as a group of nodes that interact more frequently with each other than with nodes outside their group. ANC involves creating a mapping function that converts nodes and associated attributes into lower-dimensional vector representations. Once transformed into these vectors, various machine learning algorithms are used to cluster the nodes and reveal the underlying communities. However, most ANC methods confront two major challenges. First, they assimilate node attribute information from the local neighborhood, as a result, they can’t explore the mutual affinity between node and attribute. Second, they do not consider the values of the community membership of the nodes at the time of clustering. This leads to poor performance, as the embedding method and clustering methods are independent. To address this, this article proposes a method named Mutual Affinity Propagation-based Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (MAP-NMF). The proposed method works in two phases. In the first phase, an attribute-augmented transition probability matrix is constructed to capture the mutual affinity between the node and attribute and obtain node representation using singular value decomposition of the same. The second phase produces community membership from the obtained latent representation through an NMF-based joint optimization. Moreover, a novel updating rule is proposed for the joint optimization method. A common strategy for Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) of pre-trained Vision Transformers (ViTs) involves adapting the model to downstream tasks by learning a low-rank adaptation matrix. This matrix is decomposed into a product of down-projection and up-projection matrices, with the bottleneck dimensionality being crucial for reducing the number of learnable parameters, as exemplified by prevalent methods like LoRA and Adapter. However, these low-rank strategies typically employ a fixed bottleneck dimensionality, which limits their flexibility in handling layer-wise variations. To address this limitation, we propose a novel PEFT approach inspired by Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for representing the adaptation matrix. SVD decomposes a matrix into the product of a left unitary matrix, a diagonal matrix of scaling values, and a right unitary matrix. We utilize Householder transformations to construct orthogonal matrices that efficiently mimic the unitary matrices, requiring only a vector. The diagonal values are learned in a layer-wise manner, allowing them to flexibly capture the unique properties of each layer. This approach enables the generation of adaptation matrices with varying ranks across different layers, providing greater flexibility in adapting pre-trained models. Experiments on standard downstream vision tasks demonstrate that our method achieves promising fine-tuning performance. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

Predicting drug-target interactions (DTI) has become an important step in the drug discovery and drug repositioning process. The biological identification of DTI incurs significant financial and temporal costs, and the deployment of computational methodologies for DTI prediction can substantially curtail both the duration and economic expenditure of drug discovery or repositioning. Drawing from disparate data sources can offer a comprehensive overview and diverse perspectives for predicting drug-target interactions. However, existing methods for processing drug and target information are unable to capture long-range dependency across heterogeneous graphs. To capture more comprehensive drug and target features for DTI prediction, this article proposes a drug-target interaction prediction model based on heterogeneous graph multi-hop attention networks, called MHANDTI. Concretely, the word-level deep convolutional neural network is used to obtain the structural features of drugs and targets as attributes of drug and target entity nodes in heterogeneous graphs. For the processing of heterogeneous graphs, MHANDTI designs a multi-hop attention diffusion layer (MHADL) to establish a connection between the non-direct connection nodes, and summarize the characteristics of the adjacent nodes of the center nodes in several hops. A series of results indicate that the performance of this method is superior to the latest existing frameworks. © 2024 IEEE.

This article is based on fractal geometry and complex network theory, dedicated to exploring the optimization application of fractal design algorithms in visual spatial design. Through in-depth analysis of fractal theory and sorting out specific design cases, this article proposes two improved design methods based on mathematical models and programming languages, and generates images with unique visual effects in experiments. This article further explores the expressive power of fractal structures in visual presentation and their multi-level aesthetic connotations, with a particular focus on their unique characteristics in the combination of ordered beauty and psychedelic beauty. The precise, dependable, and smart examination of leather surface defect has emerged as a significant topic in the field of industrial inspection. To further improve the accuracy of leather defect identification, a cross-stage partial modulated convolution net (CSPMNet) is proposed, which is more lightweight and efficient while seeking to improve the computational performance. CSPNet is used as the backbone of the CSPMNet, whose convolutional blocks is replaced with convolution modulation modules, combining transformer with traditional convolutional techniques. Experimental findings indicate that the model in question attained an 86.33% Top-1 accuracy on our specially designed challenging data set for detecting defects on leather surfaces, which is superior to CSPDarkNet-53, CSPResNet-50, Res2Net-50, ResNeXt-50, EfficientNet-B3, RepVgg-A2, and DenseNet-201. The proposed CSPMNet also has good generalization ability. In the performance testing of the public dataset Cifar10, the Top-1 reached 86.19%, which also is better than the aforementioned comparative models. Our work provides a excellent solution for leather surface defect detection. © 2024 IEEE.

In modern-day architecture, the choice of building material plays an important role in sustainability, cost-value engineering, and design integrity. Moreover, the traditional methods for selecting materials tended to make use of manual approaches, which at times led to drawbacks by not focusing on the basics of integration and proper data management. The paper is a very interesting approach of how a complex material selection process can be optimized with simple machine learning algorithms. In that sense, the current research developed a framework from environmental sustainability to economic cost, durability, and aesthetic appeal, with an intention for its use in guiding the design final decision process. The proposed machine learning model suggests ideal prediction for material combination from different material datasets concerning the properties and performance metrics applicable to architecture. The research showed that the approach had a hand in getting thoughtful, analytic-based decisions while assuring, at the same time, that an architect would be able to satisfy the project goals and budget constraints with environmentally safe execution. It elaborates on the cases, or rather case studies, that have applied the model and gives illustrations of great improvements not only in efficiency in design but also in the sustainability of the project coupled with better strategies for saving costs. The current research is opening an entirely new field of innovation in architecture that emphasizes the role of technology for the future form of building practice. © 2024 IEEE.

This manuscript presents a hybrid method for optimal energy management in smart home appliances. The proposed approach combines the Ebola Optimization Search Algorithm (EOSA) with the performance of spiking neural networks (SNN). The key objective of the proposed strategy is cost reduction through day-ahead load scheduling while also considering the best demand response (DR), and self-consumption of photovoltaic (PV). The EOSA method manages air conditioning (AC) and ensures thermal comfort. In addition, the SNN method was used to predict the optimal system control signal. Comparative analysis with existing systems, such as PSO, RFA, and BCO, showed that the proposed strategy resulted in 13% cost savings. The proposed system considered parameters, such as solar radiation, occupant presence, and electricity prices. The proposed technique is implemented in the MATLAB software, and the performance is compared with existing approaches. The efficiency of the proposed approach is higher than the existing techniques. © 2024 The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers.
