Supervised Enhancement for Fingertip OCT Images Based on Paired Dataset Generation Strategy

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a high-resolution, non-invasive imaging technology increasingly used for biometric data collection from fingertips. OCT captures volume data up to 3mm below the skin surface in the form of a series of B-scan images, enabling the reconstruction of internal fingerprints (IF) and internal sweat pores (ISP), thereby enhancing the security of biometric recognition. Despite the advantages, OCT images suffer from speckle noise and tissue discontinuity, making the extraction of subcutaneous biometric features challenging. Traditional hardware and software-based enhancement methods often result in over-smoothing and structural loss. Recent advancements in deep learning (DL) offer promising alternatives, with supervised DL methods showing efficacy when trained with high-quality paired datasets. However, the absence of ground-truth (GT) data makes it impossible to apply these models. This study proposes a novel supervised enhancement method for fingertip OCT images, with a paired dataset generation strategy. An OCT few-shot GAN and a Quality Estimation Module are proposed and incorporated into the strategy to realize translation from minimal GT manual augmentation to high-quality paired dataset, effectively addressing the challenge of data scarcity. A Fast Supervised Enhancement GAN (FSE-GAN) is proposed thereafter to perform simultaneous speckle noise reduction and tissue structure restoration, facilitating accurate extraction of internal fingerprints and sweat pores. Experiments demonstrate that the enhanced images significantly simplify IF and ISP extraction while achieving outstanding result quality. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

This systematic review gave special attention to diabetes and the advancements in food and nutrition needed to prevent or manage diabetes in all its forms. There are two main forms of diabetes mellitus: Type 1 (T1D) and Type 2 (T2D). The loss of beta cells brought on by an autoimmune reaction causes the pancreas to be unable to produce enough insulin, which leads to Type 1 diabetes. A deficiency of insulin could arise as the illness worsens. The most frequent cause is a combination of excessive body weight and inadequate exercise. Currently, 90–95% of patients have Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Age-specific normal blood sugar ranges exist and knowing them is crucial for determining a target blood sugar level that is both healthy and appropriate. The main takeaway is that diet regimens ought to be tailored to the patient’s requirements and should account for their capacity for change. Carbohydrates are the nutrients that have the biggest impact on the rise in blood glucose. In this paper, we have proposed a novel method for glucose monitoring and diet recommendations for diabetic patients using fog computing. A paradigm known as fog computing makes use of the benefits that come from using both cloud and edge devices to support modern computing systems by offering high-quality services, cutting latency, facilitating mobility, supporting multi-tenancy, and many other features. © 2025 by Begell House, Inc.

An optimized congestion control protocol in cellular network for improving quality of service

In recent decades, Cellular Networks (CN) have been used broadly in communication technologies. The most critical challenge in the CN was congestion control due to the distributed mobile environment. Some approaches, like mobile edge computing, congesting controlling systems, machine learning, and heuristic models, have failed to prevent congestion in CN. The reason for this problem is the lack of continuous monitoring function at every time interval. So, in this present study, a novel Golden Eagle-based Primal–dual Congestion Management (GEbPDCM) has been developed for the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) Ad hoc On-demand Vector (AODV) network. Here, the Golden Eagle function features will afford the continuous monitoring function to monitor data congestion. Hence, the main objective of this research is to improve the Quality of service (QoS) by optimizing congestion controls. Here, the QoS is measured by different metrics, such as delay, packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput, packet loss, and energy consumption. Initially, the nodes were created in the MATLAB environment, and the GEbPDCM was activated to predict the data load and estimate the node density to measure the node status. Then, the high data overload was migrated to another free status node to control congestion. Finally, the proposed model efficiency was measured regarding delay, packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput, packet loss, and energy consumption. The proposed model has scored high throughput at 97.1 Mbps and 97.1 PDR, reducing delay to 67.4 ms and 50.6 mJ energy consumption. DDSS: Driver decision support system based on the driver behaviour prediction to avoid accidents in intelligent transport system

Accidents caused by drivers who exhibit unusual behavior are putting road safety at ever-greater risk. When one or more vehicle nodes behave in this way, it can put other nodes in danger and result in potentially catastrophic accidents. In order to anticipate and handle unusual driving behavior in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), this research presents a unique Driver Decision Support System (DDSS). A reliable driving behavior prediction system is used by the suggested DDSS to categorize drivers as displaying normal or abnormal behavior. In order to prevent accidents in ITS scenarios, the system reliably detects anomalous driving patterns and advises nearby vehicles to change lanes or alter speed. The driver behavior prediction algorithm efficiently groups drivers into behavior categories using the K-Means clustering method. In order to evaluate the algorithm's efficacy, a comparative analysis is conducted by comparing its outcomes against those of Support Vector Machines (SVMs), Decision Trees, K-Nearest Neighbours (KNN), Logistic Regression, and Naïve Bayes. The integration of the Driver Decision Support System into the Intelligent Transportation System infrastructure serves to augment endeavours in accident prevention. Monitoring and analysis of driver behavior enable timely interventions, promoting safer driving practices and reducing accident risks. This research helps to create a more effective transportation system by reducing the number of accidents brought on by reckless driving. Because of its novel method to anticipating and controlling driver behavior, the proposed DDSS has promise for improving road safety and preventing accidents. The efficacy and the dependability of the driver behavior prediction algorithm are confirmed by the experimental assessment. © 2023

The Intelligent Internet of Things(IIoT) involves real-world things that communicate or interact with each other through networking technologies by collecting data from these “things” and using intelligent approaches, such as Artificial Intelligence(AI) and machine learning, to make accurate decisions. Data science is the science of dealing with data and its relationships through intelligent approaches. Most state-of-the-art research focuses independently on either data science or IIoT, rather than exploring their integration. Therefore, to address the gap, this article provides a comprehensive survey on the advances and integration of data science with the Intelligent IoT(IIoT) system by classifying the existing IoT-based data science techniques and presenting a summary of various characteristics. The paper analyzes the data science or big data security and privacy features, including network architecture, data protection, and continuous monitoring of data, which face challenges in various IoT-based systems. Extensive insights into IoT data security, privacy, and challenges are visualized in the context of data science for IoT. In addition, this study reveals the current opportunities to enhance data science and IoT market development. The current gap and challenges faced in the integration of data science and IoT are comprehensively presented, followed by the future outlook and possible solutions.

Enhanced prediction of agricultural CO2 emission using ensemble machine learning-based imputation approach

The agricultural sector contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, which cause global warming and climate change. Numerous mathematical models have been developed to predict the greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture. However, the database utilized for prediction has thousands of missing values and imbalanced data records due to various factors, such as environmental disasters, sensor failure, maintenance issues, and budgetary constraints. Many researchers have either completely discarded records with missing values or have only partially addressed the issue, leading to less precise predictions. This study proposes a machine learning-based ensemble approach that uses multiple imputation by chained equations (MICE), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), and MissForest techniques to impute the missing values by reducing uncertainties and improves robustness in predictions. Furthermore, Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE R) addresses data imbalance in CO2 emissions prediction by generating synthetic data to balance the target variable's distribution in the regression problem. Thereby the proposed SMOTE R and ensemble imputation approach aims to improve prediction accuracy and reliability by tackling data completeness and distribution issues simultaneously. The experiments are conducted on the GRACEnet database shows that the proposed approach outperforms the existing work in measure of R2, MAE, and RMSE metrics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Performance issue monitoring, identification and diagnosis of SaaS software:a survey

SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) is a service model provided by cloud computing. It has a high requirement for QoS (Quality of Software) due to its method of providing software service. However, manual identification and diagnosis for performance issues is typically expensive and laborious because of the complexity of the application software and the dynamic nature of the deployment environment. Recently, substantial research efforts have been devoted to automatically identifying and diagnosing performance issues of SaaS software. In this survey, we comprehensively review the different methods about automatically identifying and diagnosing performance issues of SaaS software. We divide them into three steps according to their function: performance log generation, performance issue identification and performance issue diagnosis. We then comprehensively review these methods by their development history. Meanwhile, we give our proposed solution for each step. Finally, the effectiveness of our proposed methods is shown by experiments.
