Phthalate acid esters (PAEs), known food contaminants, can lead to reproductive problems, respiratory diseases, childhood obesity, and neuropsychological disorders. This work aims to develop an electrochemical aptamer sensor for the detection of DAP and its analogs. To achieve specific recognition ability for PAEs, We have introduced the thymidine-Hg2+-thymidine strategy for the first time in an electrochemical aptamer sensor, incorporating metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as the carrier for the aptamer. Additionally, nanoamplification technology was applied by immobilizing MXene on the electrode to intensify the sensor's current signal. In the presence of PAEs, these molecules specifically bound to the aptamers, resulting in competitive release of Hg2+ and aptamers connected to Hg2+, subsequently reducing current signaling. Under optimal experimental conditions, the designed sensor achieved a linear range from 1.65×10-5 mg/mL to 3×10-2 mg/ml and an extremely low detection limit of 8.94×10-6 mg/mL. Furthermore, it exhibited good reliability and practicality in detecting actual samples. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The experimental results of a 75 GHz Brillouin Stokes channels are demonstrated in this paper. Three dispersion compensation fiber (DCF) spools and one single mode fiber (SMF) spool are used as a Brillouin gain medium. An erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) sections are used to amplify the generated Stokes channels and to reduce the Brillouin Stokes threshold inside the cavities. Laser pump of 1480 nm with total power of 470 mW are used for the EDFA sections as a pump power unit. In our proposed setup, four channels with 75 GHz spacing, high Stokes power of about 10 mW, and large optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) of about 52 dB are achieved at Brillouin pump power of 25 mW. The achieved channels are tuned over 15 nm from 1565 to 1580 nm. within the entire tuning range up to 25 Stokes channels with 75 GHz spacing can be utilized. High data rate of about 800 Gb/s can be obtained per single channel at this wide channel spacing. Therefore, the total data rate that could be achieved within the obtained tuning range is about 20 Tb/s. © 2023 Elsevier GmbH

The explosive growth of electric vehicles makes the deep coupling between the power distribution network and the urban transportation network, in which the mixed flow consisting of electric vehicles and conventional gasoline vehicles exposes the coupled network to operational problems of congestion and carbon emission overruns. Considering this, this paper constructs an environmentally friendly oriented optimization model for coupled power and transportation networks. Specifically, the mixed flow in a coupled network is considered, the charging price is optimized to guide the charging behavior of electric vehicle users, and the carbon emission cost is adopted to schedule the routes of gasoline vehicles. To solve the optimization model of the coupled network, an accelerated Gauss-Seidel algorithm is designed to obtain the equilibrium state of the entire system, the optimization problems of both networks are solved in an iterative manner and eventually converge to the equilibrium state. A coupled power and transportation network consisting of a modified IEEE-33 bus distribution network and a 20 link transportation network is conducted as a case study, and the impact of charging prices and carbon emissions on the operational strategies of coupled networks is analyzed. The effectiveness of the proposed environmentally friendly oriented optimization model in promoting the cost reduction and flow equilibrium of the coupled network is verified.

Driving habits of individual drivers have shown to have a strong impact on energy consumption and range of electric vehicles. Eco-driving is a popular procedure for improving the range by manipulating multiple factors such as the car speed or providing corrective suggestions related to the route. An optimized eco-driving can be considered for minimizing the energy consumption, taking into account the driving conditions and situations. In this contribution, a driving pattern recognition is considered wherein two indices namely, driving condition index (DCI) and driving situation index (DSI) are used to characterize a certain pattern. Combinations of DCI and DSI are mapped into a representative driving pattern (RDP) matrix. Based on the chosen RDP values, a reference speed for the vehicle is generated and corresponding PI controller parameters tuned within a driver model to realize eco-driving. The eco-driving strategy is optimized for minimization of energy consumption with the help of Pontryagin's minimum principle (PMP) within a constrained action space defined by the DCI and DSI indices. This novel feature allows an event specific optimal solution to be generated rather than a time specific solution. The simulation results prove the efficiency of the optimized eco-driving in preserving the battery energy and charge. It also shows the selection of representative patterns corresponding to actual driving based on DCI and DSI indices.

Mobile edge computing has been a promising technology that enables diverse applications of computation-intensive yet latency-sensitive in marine Internet of Things networks. In this paper, we propose a framework of hierarchical computing offloading with the assistance of high altitude platforms (HAPs), and a hybrid transmission scheme of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and frequency division multiple access (FDMA) is designed for achieving efficient computation offloading. Specifically, the offshore sensing devices (SDs) initially perform computation offloading to the HAPs by forming NOMA groups, and the HAPs further offload partial workload to the onshore base station (BS) via FDMA. For efficient calculation, we aim to minimize the overall delay in completing all the workload processing of these SDs by jointly optimizing the durations of NOMA and FDMA transmission as well as the hierarchical computation offloading workload. Though the problem is in the form of non-convexity, we design an efficient SCA-based algorithm to tackle it. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the optimality and convergence of the proposed algorithm, as well as the performance gains of the proposed scheme.

Purpose: In curriculum learning, the idea is to train on easier samples first and gradually increase the difficulty, while in self-paced learning, a pacing function defines the speed to adapt the training progress. While both methods heavily rely on the ability to score the difficulty of data samples, an optimal scoring function is still under exploration. Methodology: Distillation is a knowledge transfer approach where a teacher network guides a student network by feeding a sequence of random samples. We argue that guiding student networks with an efficient curriculum strategy can improve model generalization and robustness. For this purpose, we design an uncertainty-based paced curriculum learning in self-distillation for medical image segmentation. We fuse the prediction uncertainty and annotation boundary uncertainty to develop a novel paced-curriculum distillation (PCD). We utilize the teacher model to obtain prediction uncertainty and spatially varying label smoothing with Gaussian kernel to generate segmentation boundary uncertainty from the annotation. We also investigate the robustness of our method by applying various types and severity of image perturbation and corruption. Results: The proposed technique is validated on two medical datasets of breast ultrasound image segmentation and robotassisted surgical scene segmentation and achieved significantly better performance in terms of segmentation and robustness. Conclusion: P-CD improves the performance and obtains better generalization and robustness over the dataset shift. While curriculum learning requires extensive tuning of hyper-parameters for pacing function, the level of performance improvement suppresses this limitation. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Subgraph Networks Based Contrastive Learning

Graph contrastive learning (GCL), as a self-supervised learning method, can solve the problem of annotated data scarcity. It mines explicit features in unannotated graphs to generate favorable graph representations for downstream tasks. Most existing GCL methods focus on the design of graph augmentation strategies and mutual information estimation operations. Graph augmentation produces augmented views by graph perturbations. These views preserve a locally similar structure and exploit explicit features. However, these methods have not considered the interaction existing in subgraphs. To explore the impact of substructure interactions on graph representations, we propose a novel framework called subgraph network-based contrastive learning (SGNCL). SGNCL applies a subgraph network generation strategy to produce augmented views. This strategy converts the original graph into an Edge-to-Node mapping network with both topological and attribute features. The single-shot augmented view is a first-order subgraph network that mines the interaction between nodes, node-edge, and edges. In addition, we also investigate the impact of the second-order subgraph augmentation on mining graph structure interactions, and further, propose a contrastive objective that fuses the first-order and second-order subgraph information. We compare SGNCL with classical and state-of-the-art graph contrastive learning methods on multiple benchmark datasets of different domains. Extensive experiments show that SGNCL achieves competitive or better performance (top three) on all datasets in unsupervised learning settings. Furthermore, SGNCL achieves the best average gain of 6.9% in transfer learning compared to the best method. Finally, experiments also demonstrate that mining substructure interactions have positive implications for graph contrastive learning. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
