Much of the recent efforts on salient object detection (SOD) have been devoted to producing accurate saliency maps without being aware of their instance labels. To this end, we propose a new pipeline for end-to-end salient instance segmentation (SIS) that predicts a class-agnostic mask for each detected salient instance. To better use the rich feature hierarchies in deep networks and enhance the side predictions, we propose the regularized dense connections, which attentively promote informative features and suppress non-informative ones from all feature pyramids. A novel multi-level RoIAlign based decoder is introduced to adaptively aggregate multi-level features for better mask predictions. Such strategies can be well-encapsulated into the Mask R-CNN pipeline. Extensive experiments on popular benchmarks demonstrate that our design significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art competitors by 6.3% (58.6% vs. 52.3%) in terms of the AP metric. Miniaturized multistubs loaded rectangular monopole antenna for multiband applications based on theory of characteristics modes

A miniaturized rectangular monopole antenna (RMA) integrated with a T-shaped stub, inverted long and short L-shaped stub resonators based on application of the theory of characteristic modes (CMs) is investigated for multiband operation. CMs of embedded multistubs resonators on the RMA are examined and perceived that the entire structure is able to excite magnetic and electric CMs, in which three valuable CMs at 2.69/3.68/5.35 GHz are attained to cover WiMAX and WLAN bands. Based on CM analysis, the design formulation of multistubs resonators loaded antenna is presented. The proposed multiband antenna has been fabricated, tested, and experimentally characterized. The measured fractional bandwidths (FBWs) are 7.03% (180 MHz, 2.47-2.65 GHz), 10.43% (360 MHz, 3.27- 3.63 GHz), and 11.42% (630 MHz, 5.20-5.83 GHz). The antenna exhibits isolated multiple frequency bands, stable monopole-like radiation patterns, and flat realized gains over the operating resonance bands while maintaining the small antenna size. © 2019 Electromagnetics Academy. The continuous change of communication frequency brings difficulties to the reconnaissance and prediction of non-cooperative communication. The core of this communication process is the frequency-hopping (FH) sequence with pseudo-random characteristics, which controls carrier frequency hopping. However, FH sequence is always generated by a certain model and is a kind of time sequence with certain regularity. Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network in deep learning has been proved to have strong ability to solve time series problems. Therefore, in this paper, we establish LSTM model to implement FH sequence prediction. The simulation results show that LSTM-based scheme can effectively predict frequency point by point based on historical HF frequency data. Further, we achieve frequency interval prediction based on frequency point prediction.

A strategy based on local spin-state manipulation was achieved through S-modification on single-Fe-atom catalysts (Fe 1 -NSC). Spectral analyses and theoretical calculations elucidated that a medium-spin reconfiguration of Fe species in Fe 1 -NSC endowed an increased orbital overlap between Fe-3d and O-2p, reinforcing the peroxymonosulfate (PMS) dissociation kinetics. Consequently, Fe 1 -NSC delivered excellent performance in PMS conversion and pollutant degradation. The specific activity of PMS activation over Fe 1 -NSC reached 36.1 × 10 -3 L min -1 m -2 , 4.2-folds that of Fe 1 -NC (8.61 × 10 -3 L min -1 m -2 ) and superior to the state-of-the-art catalysts reported to date. Importantly, the atomic spin-state modulation via S-modification can extend to other metals (Mn, Co and Cu) for improved PMS activation with > 3 times higher than those without S-modification. This work provides a universal scheme for electronic configuration regulation and highlights the significance of local environment modulation in designing high-performance catalysts for PMS activation.

Electric vehicles (EVs) will play a vital role in the future's transportation systems since this technology is promising for environment, energy security, and improved fuel economy. EVs have huge potential of serving as the energy storage for the power grid as well as inhabitants in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) or vehicle-to-house (V2H) scenario. In this study, a control method is proposed for EV charging and discharging by using the synchronverter technology and H∞ repetitive controller, where synchronverter technology is used to generate the reference voltage to decide the power angle and amplitude of the AC side voltage of the charging/discharging port, so that the power flow between EV and the grid is controlled. In order to ensure the power quality of EVs provided for the grid and the load while EVs are with local loads, a H∞ repetitive controller is designed to control the voltage between EVs and the grid to follow the reference voltage. Simulation results have shown that the proposed controller is not only able to realise bi-directional real power and reactive power control, but also keep the output voltage of EVs in V2G or V2H scenario stable and clear while they are with different kinds of local loads. © 2019 Institution of engineering and *** right reserved.

Recently considerable attention has been paid to the deep neural networks many implementations currently need greater processes that match system architecture. However, multiple components and complex interconnections are usually needed, resulting in a wide range of occupational and abundant energy consumption. Stochastic technology clearly shows impressive outcomes for reduced area-efficient hardware implementations, although current stochastic techniques need lengthy flows that activate deep delays. We recommend a numerical model of stochastic computing in this paper and add a few simple circuits. We now suggest an effective execution of an integral SC-based DNN. The system framework was deployed on a Virtex7 Xilinx FPGA based on the average area and latency decrease of 45 % and 62 %, especially compared to the best validation design in the writings. We also consider semi-integration attributed to the fault-tolerant nature of stochastic structures, resulting in a 33 % reduction in energy consumption regarding the design of discrete datatype without even any compromising on efficiency.

In recent years, printed thermoelectric thin films have attracted attention due to their advantages in enabling large-area and flexible designs. We developed printable thermoelectric composites of bismuth telluride and halide perovskite, which were expected to exhibit superior thermoelectric properties compared to other printable materials, such as conductive organic materials. The measured dimensionless figure of merit was about 0.1 at room temperature due to its low thermal conductivity. We assessed the interfacial thermal resistance between bismuth telluride and halide perovskite using multilayered films to understand the measured low thermal conductivity. The calculated thermal conductivity using the measured interfacial thermal resistance was fairly consistent with the effective thermal conductivity observed. We also discussed the interfacial thermal resistance using a phonon transport model based on ab-initio calculations to confirm the validity of our measurements. Additionally, we found that the high interfacial thermal resistance was achieved due to the low group velocities of both materials in the composites. This mechanism can be applied not only to improve thermoelectric materials but also to address thermal issues in composites.

Circular target has an important application in pose estimation based on vision by the virtue of anti-occlusion,anti-noise and easy recognition on the *** paper focuses on the pose estimation problem when the projection of circle center is determined,and a pose calculation method is proposed based on 1 D ***,under the normalized image coordinates,a homography matrix is determined from three points,one is the projection of circle center,the other two are the intersections of the line through the projected center and the projected *** to the geometrical properties of the homography matrix,a linear method for computing the circular pose from multiple homography matrices is ***,the reprojection errors of image points are taken as the objective function to optimize the linear solution ***,the proposed method is compared with the two existing pose estimation methods through *** experimental results show that the proposed method is slightly superior to the existing methods in terms of anti-noise performance and has obvious advantages in remote pose estimation.

Modeling and assessing balance ability for elderly people is an important and realistic task with a view to assisting them in mobility status, correcting postures and preventing accidental falling. The aim of this study was to develop a novel kinematic feature-based evaluation method for elderly balance ability by using factor analysis. Based on the kinematics, twenty-five feature indicators were first extracted from walking gait data, which were collected by deploying twenty-four monitoring points on the body of the elderly subjects. Then, two main factors were identified by using factor analysis that affect the walking balance ability of the elderly, and the comprehensive evaluation scoring model of the elderly balance ability was constructed. Finally, real data from all the elderly subjects in free walking state were used to validate our method. The results of empirical analysis confirm the validity and usefulness of the proposed method. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Driven by the massive natural scene image and computer’s high speed computation ability, deep CNN becomes the mainstream method for completing the computer vision task by the power of feature representation capability. Because object detections based on deep CNN are unable to achieve optimization due to lack of training set of remote sensing images, a novel method based on transfer learning and deep CNN combined with SVM is proposed in this paper. Firstly, we obtain the deep CNN model AlexNet trained on a large-scale data set. Then, we truncate the first five convolution layers and get the initial parameters through transfer learning. Then, Deep CNN is used as feature extractor to extract the depth feature for training SVM, and the final remote sensing image airplane detection model is obtained. Experimental results show that the average precision of the proposed algorithm outperforms other traditional algorithms. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.
