Promptable segmentation foundation models have emerged as a transformative approach to addressing the diverse needs in medical images, but most existing models require expensive computing, posing a big barrier to their adoption in clinical practice. In this work, we organized the first international competition dedicated to promptable medical image segmentation, featuring a large-scale dataset spanning nine common imaging modalities from over 20 different institutions. The top teams developed lightweight segmentation foundation models and implemented an efficient inference pipeline that substantially reduced computational requirements while maintaining state-of-the-art segmentation accuracy. Moreover, the post-challenge phase advanced the algorithms through the design of performance booster and reproducibility tasks, resulting in improved algorithms and validated reproducibility of the winning solution. Furthermore, the best-performing algorithms have been incorporated into the open-source software with a user-friendly interface to facilitate clinical adoption. The data and code are publicly available to foster the further development of medical image segmentation foundation models and pave the way for impactful real-world applications. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) constitutes an essential and promising paradigm that relies programmable wireless environment and provides capability for space-intensive communications, due to the use of low-cost massive reflecting elements over the entire surfaces of man-made structures. However, accurate channel estimation is a fundamental technical prerequisite to achieve the huge performance gains from RIS. By leveraging the low rank structure of RIS channels, three practical residual neural networks, named convolutional blind denoising network, convolutional denoising generative adversarial networks and multiple residual dense network, are proposed to obtain accurate channel state information, which can reflect the impact of different methods on the estimation performance. Simulation results reveal the evolution direction of these three methods and reveal their superior performance compared with existing benchmark schemes. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Tongue image segmentation is a crucial step in developing an automatic tongue diagnosis system. After exploring characteristics of image thresholding in different color spaces, we propose a simple and effective tongue image segmentation method. Specifically, the proposed method first extracts an initial tongue body region by performing image thresholding on the transformed hue component in HSI (Hue, Saturation, and Intensity) color space. Then, one of two image thresholding results on the red component of an original tongue image is adaptively selected to find the gap region between the tongue body root and the upper lip. Finally, the initial tongue body region is refined by removing fake object regions such as the upper lip to obtain final tongue image segmentation result. Experimental results on a tongue image dataset containing 200 subjects demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2018 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-set analysis in genome-wide association studies (GWASs)has become a hot *** existing SNP-set analystic methods are designed and work well according to the different natures of common or rare variants and associated *** the information that the disease associated variants are common or rare cannot be gained in ***,in this research,we proposed a new and powerful weighted function method without distinguishing common or rare variants to select tagging *** applied our selection method to sequence kernel associa- tion test (SKAT)and compared the power with some existing *** simulation results showed that our method has higher power not only than SKAT in un-weighted case,but also than SKAT in other weighted ***,the power is improved significantly when the minor allele frequency (MAF)of causal SNP is relatively small.

In this work, the result of the initial attempt to propose an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) digital security and interoperability standard to support the mobility among ASEAN countries is presented. Literature reviews on existing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) related digital technologies of six ASEAN member countries are conducted. Several concerns related to creating/implementing the ASEAN digital security and interoperability standard are discussed including the technology accessing concern, the data security and privacy concern, and the data interoperability and availability concern. The proposed solution toward creating an ASEAN digital security and interoperability standard is then presented. To evaluate the proposed solution, a survey has been conducted on representatives of nine ASEAN countries on four main issues including the security standards and requirements, the interoperability standard and requirements, the certifications, and the implementation challenges. According to the survey and the discussion, seven recommendations were proposed toward creating an ASEAN digital security and interoperability standard. First, each country collects and maintains the data of its own citizens and also provides a method to authenticate and access the data by authorized requests. Second, QR code standard or ASEAN QR code standard must be agreed upon so that it can be authenticated and verified by ASEAN countries. Third, health risk assessment must be agreed upon to be used. Forth, the security standard, the data, the data format and the exchange protocol must be agreed upon at the ASEAN policy level while adoption of international standards as an implementation guideline will ease of the process and neutralize different requirements from various countries. Fifth, any accountability of incidents must be agreed upon at the ASEAN policy level. Sixth, certification might be extended to certification of risk assessment for organizations, products or

A new dynamical system exhibiting chaos and a torso-like set of rest points is reported in this research work. In more detail, the rest points of the new chaotic nonlinear plant are a pair of open curves of rest points that are symmetric about the coordinate axes. Qualitative dynamical properties shedding more light on the dynamical texture of the system are displayed with phase plots. The new chaotic plant displays hidden attractor as it features infinite number of rest points. Using integral sliding mode control, we have also discussed the regulation of the states of the new nonlinear plant to set-point controls. © 2018 IEEE.

Regional path moving horizon tracking controller design for autonomous ground vehicles

A novel regional path tracking description is presented in this manuscript, and the moving horizon control method that is model predictive control(MPC) is proposed to discuss the regional path tracking issue which could avoid colliding road boundary when tracking a more complex road effectively. The feasible region for autonomous ground vehicles(AGVs) running is determined first according to the detected road ***, in order to keep the actual trajectory of AGVs in the region and satisfy the safety requirements, MPC method is employed to design the path tracking controller considering actuator and road boundary *** order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments based on Hongqi AGV HQ430 are carried out, and the results illustrate that the presented method could be successfully applied to Hongqi AGV vehicle HQ 430.

Temperature-induced effect on refractive index of graphene based on coated in-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer

The temperature-induced complex refractive index（CRI） effect of graphene is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally based on a graphene coated in-fiber MZI（Mach-Zehnder interferometer）. The relationships between real and imaginary parts of the graphene CRI and temperature are obtained through investigating the dip wavelength and intensity of the MZI interference spectrum changing with temperature, respectively. The temperature effect of CRI of the graphene is also analyzed theoretically. Both experimental and theoretical studies show that the real part and imaginary part of the CRI nonlinearly decrease and increase with temperature increasing, respectively. This graphene-coated in-fiber MZI structure also possesses the advantages of easy fabrication, miniaturization, low cost and robustness. It has potential applications in nanomaterial-based optic devices for communication and sensing.

Because of the good concealment, the application of DSSS signals are more and more attractive in underwater acoustic (UWA) communication. While for UWA communication countermeasure system, blind detection of non-cooperative UWA DSSS signals is the first and essential step. A software for non-cooperative UWA DSSS signals detection is developed based on LabVIEW, which integrates power spectrum method, cepstrum method, autocorrelation method and corresponding improved methods. With the help of acquisition card and acoustic transducer, many functions can be implemented such as real-time acquisition and storage, detection processing and the results display for the received signals. What's more, different detection methods can be independently or jointly used by arbitrarily adjusting the display and control interface in real time.

The conventional underwater acoustic (UWA) wakeup signals detection methods for both underwater cooperative nodes and non-cooperative nodes are FFT based signal detection and matched-filtered based signal detection. While there is a big performance degradation of these conventional frequency-offset sensitive methods due to the relative motion between nodes, complex underwater noise environment, channel time-varying and other interference sources. This paper proposes a dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm to detect the wake-up signal in UWA communication networks, which is frequency-offset insensitive and performs better than the conventional methods in severe frequency-offset environment by simulations based on the true UWA channel measured from sea trial.
