A novel segmentation method of texture image based on multi-scale random field model in wavelet domain

In the paper, a hierarchical Gauss-Markov random field model in wavelet domain is proposed and applied to the texture image segmentation. Multi-scale random field model methods only consider inter-scale casual Markov random field model to describe local statistic information, which are not satisfactory as segmentation results. To address this deficiency, we used Gauss-Markov random field to model, meanwhile take more intra-scale local spatial interaction information into consideration. We use supervised method for training image parameters and multi-objective solving technique to optimize sequential maximum a posteriori estimation. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed method with texture images and noised images. From the visual effect and classification correct ratio, the resulting wavelet-based hierarchical Gauss-Markov random field model is more accurate and robust than the wavelet-based multi-scale random field model method. © 2014.

A dual-band low noise amplifier (DBLNA), which can operate at 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz, is designed and realized. Infineon BFP740 SiGe HBTs are chose as active device, the cascode structure with high isolation and wider bandwidth is selected as gain circuit stage, whose bias current is selected to obtain minimum noise figure. In order to cope with the error of board technology and the PCB transmission loss, an additional stage is added into the cascode amplifier stage, both the peaking inductor and the RC circuit are utilized to compensate the decrease of high-frequency gain. A voltage divider circuit by resistor is employed to provide bias current, and the bias point is determined by scanning IB-NF. For the sake of miniaturization and adjustability, the π-type micro-strip line is used to achieve input/output matching. The combination of the electromagnetic simulation and the schematic diagram simulation, so-called co-simulation, is used to guarantee the simulation results are close to actual case. Finally the board-level layout is designed and the DBLNA PCB is fabricated and measured. © 2014 WIT Press.

Mud pulse signal extracting in Wireless measure while drilling (MWD) was a core technology in the process of oil drilling development. Whether the resolution of detected mud pulse signal start point location is accurate or not in ground decoding system would directly affect the accurate level of decoding. For the resolution problems of mud pulse signal start time position, this paper analyzed the transmission format of Manchester coded down-hole datum and transmission characteristics of mud pulse signal, using a wavelet multi-scale and related de-noising algorithm to extract mud pulse signal. According to the characteristics of the Manchester coded underground synchronization signal, It proposed an algorithm based on the combination of equal segmentations within a signal period and waveform correlation to accurately define the mud pulse signal starting time. After extracting the start time position, establishing the pulse signal recognition model within two cycles and using a pattern recognition algorithm to recognize mud pulse signal. The field tests show that the algorithm can accurately define the mud pulse signal starting time and can effectively improve the decoding accuracy and meet the requirements of engineering applications. © Sila Science. Recommendation systems have been widely used in social media. One of recommendation tasks in social media is to provide relevant messages for users. Although many models have been proposed, how to make accurate recommendation for new users with little historical information still remains a big challenge, which is called the cold start problem. In order to address this problem, many models have been proposed, which use information of social media to improve the recommendation performance. However, lack of such versatility limits the successful application of these models. In this study, we propose an effective facet-based trend model to describe the trend interests of the entire user community in social media. Trend facet is the probability distribution of all users' preference to an attribute. In contrast to the general feature, the facet stems from the users' history and captures the interests to the attribute in social media. We evaluate our models in the context of personalized ranking of microblogs. Experiments on real-world data show that trend modeling can alleviate the cold start problem significantly. In addition, we compare the performance of user modeling and trend modeling, and find that user modeling outperforms trending model and the impact is slightly negative when combining trend modeling with user modeling. © 2014 IEEE.

Design of a wireless monitoring network for granary temperature and humidity based on Zigbee

The granary monitoring systems in used in China are mostly based on wired networks such as RS-485 serial bus, CAN fieldbus, etc. Inevitably these monitoring systems have drawbacks of high installation cost, high failure rate and high maintenance cost. Aiming at these problems, this paper designed a granary temperature and humidity monitoring system based on Zigbee wireless network. The monitoring system consists of sensor modules as Zigbee end devices, a host PC connected to a Zigbee coordinator and some Zigbee routers if necessary. The sensor module is a temperature and humidity testing device using a CC2430 as the controller and a SHT11 as the sensor. All testing results are displayed as figures and curves in real-time on the host PC, and history data are saved in a database file for further analysis. © 2014 SERSC.

The conventional Mie-scattering calculation has been widely used for spherical particles existed in a vacuum and homogeneous nonabsorbing medium. The paper investigates the radiative properties of particles existed in absorbing medium, including light absorption, extinction efficiencies, scattering efficiencies and so on. This study presents milk fat globule in ethyl acetate solution (EAS) and monoethanolamine (MEA) solution including their complex refractive index. The complex refractive index of milk fat globules at 20 °C was measured at 633 nm and was calculated to be 1.46+0.000005i, the complex refractive of EAS was measured at 633nm and was separately calculated to be 1.476 + 0.0005583169i. We considered the calculation difference of the efficiency factors by comparing results from inherent efficiencies and apparent efficiencies of milk fat globule in absorbing medium by simulation in MATALAB. By simulation it is proved that the light scattering by globules is affected by absorbing medium, so modifying Mie scattering calculation is necessary.

The rank one NMF blind source separation algorithm (NMF-R1) was obtained by imposing the sparsity constraint on the fast NMF algorithm based rank one. NMF blind source separation algorithm based on least squares (NMF-LS) was obtained by using pseudo-inverse matrix. NMF-R1 algorithm was superior to the existing blind source separation algorithms based on NMF. NMF-LS algorithm had faster computation speed, but the result of decomposition was not unique. In order to further enhance the signals separated performance, crossover iteration between NMF-R1 and NMF-LS was used to getting the mixing matrix and the signal matrix, and the mixed NMF blind source separation algorithm (NMF-LR) was obtained. Simulation results show that the separation performance of NMF-LR algorithm is better than that of NMF-R1 and NMF-LS, and the computation complexity of NMF-LR algorithm is nearly the same as NMF-R1 algorithm. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Markov fuzzy based mac protocol for life time maximization of wireless sensor network

This paper jointly investigates the problem of duty cycle adjustment and the slot allocation in the time division multiple access (TDMA)- based wireless sensor network systems. In this proposed Markov Fuzzy Medium Access control (MaFuMAC) protocol, the duty cycles of the nodes are adjusted by the hidden Markov model, and the slots in the TDMA channel are assigned to the nodes in the cluster, based on the fuzzy slot priority (FSP) function. The FSP function is computed by using the parameters such as weighting function, queue length and delay factor of the individual nodes for achieving the conflict-free scheduling. The simulation results of the proposed approach significantly improve the life time of the nodes in the network with less energy utilization and delay.
