With the continuous development of marine science and technology, propeller shapes are developing in a more complex direction. Among them, the toroidal propeller represents the latest research progress in propeller technology. This design features a ring-shaped geometry for the blades, which are similar to the catenary curve of a hanging chain. This propeller offers the advantages of higher efficiency and lower noise. In this paper, starting from the geometric shape analysis study of toroidal propeller, we introduce the geometric parameters such as wheelbase, outboard angle, lateral inclination angle among others, derive the mathematical formula of the coordinates of toroidal propeller in detail, simulate the modulation waveform and spectrogram of the toroidal propeller, and compare with those of the ordinary propeller, and according to the experimental data, the geometric shape of toroidal propeller can be recognized by using the proposed method. This lays a firm foundation for further research on the physical properties and scientific problems of toroidal propellers. © 2025 SPIE.

Limited reliability data during the development of cruise ship automation systems often leads to subjective weight allocation. This paper proposes an reliability allocation method based on the Bayesian best-worst method and analytic hierarchy process to address this challenge. By considering the system reliability indices, influencing factors, and units need to be allocated, a hierarchical model is established for reliability allocation based on the analytic hierarchy process. The Bayesian best-worst method compares elements in each layer, generating best and worst matrices based on decision-makers. These matrices determine optimal weights for each layer's elements. The analytic hierarchy process determines relative importance weights among the system reliability index, influencing factors, and units. Consequently, the derived optimal weights are converted into allocation factors, which enable the allocation of reliability for cruise ship automation systems. This fusion-based approach presents a novel and effective method for optimizing reliability allocation during the development stage of complex systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This article aims to propose a general control strategy for coordination of multiple nonholonomic agents in three dimensional space. For real-world applications, since the field sensor equipped on the mobile agents for local information detection and estimation has some limited detecting range, it is necessary to guarantee that the nearby agents must stay within this range of the onboard sensor. This is called sensory connectivity maintenance. A function termed as coordination function with sensory connectivity maintenance (CFSCM) is defined to describe the performances of the coordination as well as the sensory connectivity status between the agents. Then, a general control strategy is designed based on the proposed CFSCM for spatial coordination of multiple nonholonomic agents with sensory connectivity maintenance. Moreover, the applications of the proposed control strategy for formation with omnidirectional sensors and flocking with directional sensors are shown, respectively. Finally, some numerical examples are conducted to validate the theoretical analysis. © 2013 IEEE.

Investigation into the explosion characteristics of hydrogen-ammonia mixture: Effect of ignition position

A series of experiments were conducted in a 0.125 m3 cubic vessel to investigate the effects of ignition position on hydrogen-ammonia mixture. For top ignition, two obvious peaks of Popen and Phel can be observed. Popen is around 14 kPa for all concentrations, while Phel increases with the Hydrogen-ammonia mixture concentration. For center ignition, the appearance or disappearance of Pvib depends on the rate of reaction. Internal flame speed shows an upward trend when the CNH3 is between 15 % and 19 %, while the flame speed begins to decrease when the CNH3 exceeds 19 %. Compared to the top ignition and center ignition, bottom ignition takes the shortest time to reach the maximum displacement of the external flame due to the buoyancy of the ammonia flame. It can be found that the highest combustion efficiency occur for bottom ignition with CNH3 of 19 %. © 2025 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC

A strategy was proposed to predict accurately the dielectric permittivity and dielectric strength based on the Onsager local field *** molecular dynamic simulation was utilised to analyse the dipole moment fluctuation in polyimide(PI)to reflect the polar-isation response of applied electric *** simulation results revealed that the optical dielectric permittivity and static dielectric permittivity were 2.62 and 3.34,showing that the electronic displacement polarisation of the PI acted as a major *** deviation between simulated and measured values of the frequency-dependent relative dielectric permittivity was no more than 5%,which exhibited high *** the polarisation response of the polar groups in the PI was at infrared frequencies,the conductive loss may be the dominant role in 102–106 Hz at room ***,the effect of Joule heat on the structure,dielectric permittivity and Young modulus was considered to accurately predict the dielectric strength of the PI(359 kV/mm),which was in agreement with experimental values in the *** results establish a clear correlation between structural characteristics and dielectric properties of the PI,which would be the theoretical insights into the design and synthesis of the PI with tailored dielectric properties.

Designing a data-driven predictive controller for lateral stability of vehicles on compacted-snow rutted roads, especially when the data is subjected to non-stationary noise disturbances, is a significant challenge. This paper introduces a novel subspace predictive equation construction method that incorporates filtering using the inverse of a first-order disturbance model. Based on this, a filtering data-driven predictive controller is designed. The proposed method is tested through numerical simulations and MATLAB/CarSim co-simulation. Simulation results show that the proposed subspace predictive equation with filtering effectively mitigates the variance and bias introduced by non-stationary noise. The co-simulation results demonstrate that the controller ensures the stability and robustness of the vehicle system. © 2024 IEEE.

Smart Grids preside over traditional power grids due to their efficiency and effectiveness. Smart grid implementation has benefited all components of the power system. These grids usually generate energy from renewable energy resources. However, the stability, reliability, and seamless functioning of the grid are adversely affected by the highly weather-dependent characteristics of renewable energy sources. As a result, accurate energy generation forecasting is an essential requirement for the grid's steady and reliable operation. The forecasting techniques for the quantity of electricity produced by solar power plants are discussed in this study. First, the impact of weather on solar power generation is investigated. Second, a machine learning method for solar panel output power prediction based on weather conditions is proposed. Finally, an ensemble approach utilizing different algorithms for machine learning is utilized to boost the accuracy of the proposed model. For the objective of creating prediction models, we utilized a variety of techniques, including temporal convolutional neural networks, fine trees, support vector machines with different kernel functions, artificial neural networks, and long-short-term memory RNNs. Each model's prediction accuracy has been assessed by comparing and contrasting these different methods. A comparative investigation indicated that the Temporal Convolutional Network-based model trumps the others in terms of efficiency. The proposed ensemble model exceeded the conventional individual models after performance comparison with the standard approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

In this article, we proposed an infrared and visible image fusion method based on scene information embedding, which is to obtain an fused image with high-quality target information such as pedestrian crossing, vehicles, signs and rich background texture information. First, scene information is described, so as to effectively represent highlight salient target for infrared image and texture detail for visible image. Second, we embed this scene information into multi-scale fusion framework to fuse these information and reconstruct the desired fused image. It is worth noting that scene information is constructed by pre-trained convolutional neural network, where not only information extracted by convolutional neural network is fully utilized, but also training complexity is not increased. In datasets LLVIP, MSRS, M3FD,TNO, RoadScene and elctricity1, the superiority of our proposed algorithm SIE over state-of-the-arts is demonstrated by subjective evaluation and objective evaluation including information entropy (EN), standard deviation (SD), spatial frequency (SF), average gradient (AG), sum of the correlations of differences (SCD) and mutual Information (MI) metrics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Background: The vortex pump is a type of sewage pump renowned for its non-clogging performance. As the vortex pump has a special structure type, there are many vortex structures in the volute and impeller flow channel, which reduce the efficiency of the vortex pump. Reducing the energy loss and improving the efficiency of the vortex pump has been one of the main research objectives of designers. In this paper, the research progress of vortex pumps is summarized from the two aspects of transporting solid medium and low efficiency, which can provide a reference for future research. Methods: The latest patents and papers on vortex pumps were collected. The solid-liquid flow characteristics from the experimental and numerical perspectives, the influence of geometric parameters on external characteristics, and optimization design methods of the vortex pump were studied. Results: The particles, fibers, and cloth in the vortex pump will become trapped and blocked in the cavity. And the geometric parameters have an obvious effect on the pump. By using the intelligent optimization algorithm to optimize the impeller parameters, the pump efficiency can be increased by 10.25% under large flow conditions and the effective blade shear stress. Conclusion: The concentration and diameter of particles could change the performance of the pump. The retention and plugging of the solid medium in the vortex pump are related to flow structure and backflow. Appropriate geometric parameters should be selected when designing a vortex pump. Too large or too small a structure design will lead to poor performance of the vortex pump. This can be combined with intelligent optimization algorithms for pump design, which is a very effective method. © 2023 Bentham Science Publishers.

Talent flow is a vital component of the region's competitiveness and development. Accurately grasping talent trends can aid in the development of the region. Unlike text and image data, the characteristics of questionnaire data are more dependent on prior and potential correlations between each factor than on its order and position relationship. To efficiently extract features from questionnaire data and accurately predict talent flow, this paper proposes a novel talent flow prediction method based on the graph attention network. In our method, the data is transformed into graph data, the data feature is saved in the nodes, the adjacency matrix stores the link between the nodes, and an attention mechanism allocates the aggregate weight when the neighbor nodes are aggregated. The experiment demonstrates that the method proposed in this paper outperforms other algorithms for similar tasks both in accuracy and efficiency. It achieves an overall classification accuracy of 92.33% and more than 90% of the classification accuracy in each category prediction classification on our dataset. © 2023 IEEE.
