Purpose: Foot and ankle pathologies are among the most prevalent conditions within the human locomotor system. Imaging examinations are crucial for diagnosing, treating, and achieving satisfactory functional outcomes for these conditions. However, conventional imaging exams often fail to capture all the necessary details for precise analysis, necessitating the use of multiple imaging modalities to evaluate bones, ligaments, cartilage, and other structures. Objective: This research aims to explore computational technologies and algorithms for 3D reconstruction and fusion of foot and ankle images, alongside the analysis, segmentation, classification, and evaluation techniques applied to these images. Methods: The study investigates different computational approaches for 3D reconstruction and multimodal image fusion, integrating X-ray and MRI data. Advanced segmentation and classification techniques are applied to enhance the precision of structural assessment. Additionally, we assess the availability and quality of databases for training and validating these models. Results: Our findings highlight a significant gap in research concerning these specific applications, as well as a shortage of suitable databases for 3D reconstruction and fusion of images from X-rays and MRI. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the need for dedicated datasets and further research to develop effective computational solutions for multimodal foot and ankle imaging. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering 2025.

In this study, we aim to enhance the efficiency of p-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (p-TOPCon) solar cells by improving charge carrier extraction while achieving higher fill factor (FF) and open circuit voltage (Voc). We explore various potential methods for the photovoltaic industrial procedure, including optimizing metallization patterns and techniques, such as the utilization of a high efficiency grid pattern (HEGP) in place of the conventional straight finger-line pattern (SFLP). Co-firing conditions, peak firing temperature, and belt speed are investigated for their impact on FF enhancement, along with evaluating the effects of single and double print processes. Furthermore, we examine the efficacy of Nafion treatment as a surface modification technique to enhance FF. Experimental results indicate that optimizing co-firing conditions and employing Nafion treatment significantly increased FF to approximately 83.26% in p-TOPCon solar cells. Adjusting peak firing temperature and belt speed, as well as implementing the double print process, demonstrate superior FF enhancement compared to the single print process. Additionally, Nafion treatment contributes to FF improvement by passivating surface defects and enhancing charge carrier collection. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into optimizing co-firing conditions and surface treatment techniques to enhance p-TOPCon solar cell efficiency (Eff) up to 23.50%, thus advancing high-efficiency photovoltaic technology. © 2024 The Korean Society of Industrial and engineering Chemistry

This paper proposed a novel landing platform with wireless power transfer (WPT) to charge multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) without restrictions on landing locations or alignment. A transmitter is designed using wires to charge a wide area. To overcome the disadvantages of system made by wires, a grid pattern transmitter and double power line are proposed. These structures provide multiple charging with free positioning of receivers and excite the transmitter lines in wide area properly. The optimized system is composed of 0.15m square cells, providing a 0.9 m by 0.9 m charging area. By experiment, it can efficiently charge four 0.1 m square receivers located anywhere in transmitter. The overall efficiency of four receivers is 37.5%. Also, the experimental results verify that it is unnecessary to align the receiver within the cell, as it has a 2.62% error due to rotation and a 2.94 % error due to position within the cell. © 2025 IEEE.

This research examines the effectiveness of nitrogen annealing and Nafion treatment in mitigating Light and Elevated Temperature Induced Degradation (LeTID) in Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact (PERC) solar cells, employing a 30-kW photovoltaic (PV) system for evaluation. As a photosensitive device, solar cells are susceptible to damage from laser irradiation, leading to reduced photoelectric conversion efficiency, structural damage, and functional loss. To minimize this loss, nitrogen annealing and Nafion treatments were applied, followed by the analysis of LeTID effects on untreated, Nafion-treated, and combined nitrogen-annealed and Nafion-treated PERC cells. Untreated cells showed an 8 % fall in open-circuit voltage (Voc) and a 7 % fill factor (FF) loss. The combined treatment (Combination of Nitrogen & Nafion Treatment) improved stability, reducing losses to 6 % in Voc and 5 % in FF. The Nafion treatment yielded the best results, limiting deterioration to 4 % in Voc and 3 % in FF. PVsyst simulations, incorporating real-world data, confirmed enhanced stability and efficiency, aiding in optimizing PV system design and maintenance. © 2025 Korean Physical Society

Visible Light communication (VLC) is an emerging technology poised to complement radio frequency (RF) communication systems in various high-demand applications. By employing optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (O-OFDM) techniques, VLC enhances data transmission rates and minimizes intersymbol interference. Among these techniques, asymmetrically clipped O-OFDM (ACO-OFDM) is notable for its high power efficiency and superior performance. However, a significant challenge in ACO-OFDM-based VLC systems is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), which forces light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to operate beyond their linear range, leading to signal distortion, power inefficiency, thermal stress, and reduced LED lifespan. Additionally, high PAPR increases receiver complexity and limits system scalability, necessitating effective mitigation strategies for reliable VLC deployment. This study addresses the PAPR challenge by introducing a hybrid reduction strategy that combines precoding with nonlinear companding techniques. The proposed approach attains a PAPR reduction of 6.1855 dB compared to basic ACO-OFDM without degrading bit error rate (BER) performance. Additionally, the study enhances BER performance by integrating two noise mitigation models at the receiver. These models improve system performance by 2.275 dB relative to standard ACO-OFDM while maintaining the same BER level. When applied together, the PAPR reduction strategy and noise mitigation models yield a total PAPR diminution of 6.2611 dB and an enhancement in BER performance of 0.76 dB. A detailed comparative analysis with established methods from the literature confirms the efficiency and robustness of the proposed approach. This systematic evaluation underscores its potential to address key limitations of traditional ACO-OFDM, positioning it as a viable solution for next-generation VLC systems. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

This study aims to increase the number of access users by limiting the sample size to 30 users while ensuring that every Optical Network Unit (ONU) receives data from the Optical Line Terminal (OLT). The proposed solution allows for the determination of power requirements at each ONU based on bus-star topologies, facilitating an increase in user capacity. The power received by each ONU is a critical parameter that system designers must consider when planning the implementation of Fiber to the Home (FTTH), as it impacts the output data in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal Quality Factor (QF) for each user. Various parameters were evaluated to ensure that the enhanced network improves scalability while adhering to standard specifications. These parameters included the Q-factor, BER, eye diagram, user count, and received power. The study employed slicing and duplication techniques, utilizing Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) for signal duplication and Wavelength Division Multiplexing for signal slicing. The simulations were conducted using a transmitter operating at a frequency of 1491 nm with a power output of 0 dBm, utilizing the latest version of OptiSystem 20 software. The results highlighted the system's capability to support a total of 73,728 users, meeting stringent performance criteria. Specifically, the system achieved a Q-factor greater than 6, indicating high signal quality, and a bit error rate (BER) lower than 1 × 10-9, ensuring reliable data transmission. For the sampled 30 users, the average Q factor was 8.1527, and the average BER was 5.3648 × 10^-11, with an output power level of -54.278 dBm. Despite an increase in users, the quality of the data supplied to clients remained unchanged. These outcomes underscore the robustness and efficiency of the design in delivering high-capacity, error-resilient optical communication. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Heart Disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. It alarmingly rises at a quick rate, making early heart disease prediction crucial for effective prevention and timely intervention. Heart disease diagnosis is a difficult process that requires technical skills and accuracy to complete. With improvements in technology, computing has lent its voice to simplify the diagnosis of various health problems. Machine learning uses past or existing history to predict future results. Various machine learning techniques have been developed over the years and used in predicting heart diseases with various levels of performance. Identifying the best-suited machine learning technique to use for prediction purposes can be a challenging task. This research work analyses the performance of seven (7) machine learning techniques, comprising AdaBoost Algorithm, KNN, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes Classifier, Random Forest, SVM, and XGBoost. The heart disease dataset was downloaded from the UCI repository and analysed using Python programming language in the Jupyter Notebook environment. A comparative analysis of the seven (7) techniques was performed based on Accuracy, Precision, and Recall. From the results obtained, KNN, Random Forest, and XGBoost showed superior performance over the others with an accuracy of 100%, AdaBoost Algorithm followed with an accuracy of 92.2%, SVM followed with an accuracy of 91.71%, Naïve Bayes Classifier followed with an accuracy of 88.29% while Logistic Regression has the least accuracy of 86.34%. Performance in modern embedded systems, particularly those executing computation-intensive signal/image processing and machine learning algorithms, is critically dependent on the efficiency of multiplication operations. Serial multiplication offers key advantages in these resource-constrained environments, including low memory usage and minimal interconnect complexity. The most significant digit first (MSDF) serial multiplication scheme further enhances efficiency by enabling early termination and supporting variable precision. It is ideal for embedded applications where power and performance are critical. This paper proposes an auto-selection scheme for MSDF multiplication, where product digits are generated as a byproduct of residual maintenance, leading to speed, cost, and power efficiency improvements. We demonstrate the implementation of serial-serial and serial-parallel multipliers, where the multiplier operand in the latter is fully available throughout the computation. Simulation and synthesis results, compared to the most relevant previous works, show reductions in delay (16% and 20%), area consumption (11% and 23%), and power dissipation (7% and 20%), making our approach well-suited for embedded systems requiring efficient, low-power multiplication hardware. © 2009-2012 IEEE.

Robots have become increasingly important in a variety of life domains as a result of the rapid advancement of technology. Additionally, robots are employed in education as teaching assistants in science, art, and language courses. This research aims to explore the potential of robotic systems as a multipurpose tool for increasing cultural awareness, language proficiency, and communicative competence in the GenAI era. Language games, conversation simulations, and real-time feedback mechanisms are just a few examples of interactive scenarios enabled by virtual robot systems or tutor robots that enable immersive language experiences that go beyond the limitations of conventional schooling. This research contributes knowledge that explores how AI can be used to personalize language teaching according to the needs and learning styles of each student in higher education. The total population of undergraduate students involved in this research was 350 for the 2023 academic year, with 24 students selected purposefully based on sample characteristics from this group who were exposed to using AI for one semester. The research method used is a mix method with quantitative analysis of the results of surveys and interviews with students who are known to have given positive responses and proposes a comprehensive strategy for using AI robot technology in EFL classrooms, which can significantly improve effective learning outcomes. The survey results also show that if educators have a solid understanding of the relationship between linguistic acquisition and technological advances, they will be better prepared to design engaging, individualized lessons that prepare their students to use the language effectively in real-world contexts. The robot-assisted language learning (RALL) approach used in this study, with the integration of robots in the classroom, has the potential to change the way people learn languages to make it more interesting, fun, and motivating, increase engagement
