Thai people living along the Chi River Basin (CRB), an important river for economic and social development of the Northeast of Thailand, have long been affected by both flood and drought. These problems have not yet been solved due to a lack of knowledge sharing between responsible organizations and researchers who are the experts on CRB to monitor and control the water condition. The knowledge owned by these experts has not been captured, classified and integrated into an information system for decision making. This paper is a part of the research on the development of knowledge-based DSS for water resources management of CRB. It aimed to develop the knowledge domain and to design knowledge-based DSS architecture. The research methods included document analysis and qualitative methods by adopting Liou (1990)’s knowledge acquisition approach. Ten experts in the areas of Environmental engineering, Water resources engineering, and GIS were interviewed. The experts also took parts in the processes of developing the knowledge domain, classifying and structuring the knowledge for flood management of *** results of this research were the knowledge domain and the knowledge-based DSS architecture. The knowledge was structured by following three processes of disaster management cycle, consisting of 9 domains of forecasting, 10 domains of response, 9 domains of recovery, 16 domains of Historical, 30 domains of GeoInformatic, and 6 domains of Government policy and land use.

We are developing a dietary assessment system that records daily food intake through the use of food images. Recognizing food in an image is difficult due to large visual variance with respect to eating or preparation conditions. This task becomes even more challenging when different foods have similar visual appearance. In this paper we propose to incorporate two types of contextual dietary information, food co-occurrence patterns and personalized learning models, in food image analysis to reduce ambiguity in food visual appearance and improve food recognition accuracy. We evaluate our model on 1453 food images acquired by 45 participants in natural eating conditions. The result shows that incorporating contextual dietary information improves the food categorization accuracy by about 10%.

This paper investigate the impact of primary transceivers on the outage performance of a dual-hop decode-and-forward (DF) spectrum sharing relay system with multiple secondary user (SU) destinations in Nakagami-m fading channels. To doing so, we derive new exact and asymptotic closed-form expressions for the outage probability of spectrum sharing relay systems employing the opportunistic scheduling algorithm, which readily enable us to characterize the impact of various key system parameters on the outage performance of the system. Monte Carlo simulation results are provided to verify the theoretical analysis and evaluate the effects of channel fading severity, SU relay placement, and number of SU destinations. The finding of this paper suggests that the interference temperature constraint results in the outage saturation phenomenon and zero diversity gain of spectrum sharing relay systems.

In this study, a single-input multiple-outputs current-mode analog biquadratic filter, based on current differencing transconducatance amplifier (CDTA) is presented. The proposed filter uses two CDTAs, one resistor and two grounded capacitors, which is well suited for integrated circuit implementation. The circuit simultaneously gives 3 standard transfer functions, namely, lowpass, highpass and bandpass filters with independent control of quality factor and pole frequency by electronic method. By summing of IHP and ILP, the notch filter can be also achieved. Moreover, the circuit possesses low input and high output impedance which would be an ideal choice for current-mode cascading. The PSPICE simulation results are included verifying the workability of the proposed filter. The given results agree well with the theoretical anticipation.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of a dual-hop system with partial relay selection and feedback delay over Nakagami-m fading channels in the presence of multiple identical interferers at the destination. Based on the new closed-form expressions for the cumulative distribution function of the effective signal-to-interference plus noise ratio, we present closed-form expressions for the outage probability and average symbol error rate (SER) for both fixed and CSI-assisted gain relaying systems. To gain further insights, the asymptotic outage probability and average symbol error rates at the high signal to noise ratio regimes are examined. Our results reveal that increasing the number of relays does not provide any extra diversity gain due to the presence of the feedback delay. Specifically, we show that feedback delay as well as CCI only affect the coding gain of the system. The accuracy of the analytical results are supported Monte-Carlo simulations.

The recent advances in Grid and Cloud computing make new types of applications possible. At the same time, they require an infrastructure to implement heterogeneous computing resources time and cost-savely. Here, approaches that utilize design patterns, i.e., proven solutions to existing problems, seem to provide a good approach to enable these kind of applications. In this paper, we investigated which design patterns are already used in the area of Grid computing nowadays. After a brief description of the literature study design, we present our findings which include the discovered design patterns, corresponding categories, and application areas.

We have developed and characterized ultrafast and highly sensitive photodetectors based on GaAs nanowhiskers fabricated with an improved top-down etching method. We evaluated the material properties of the etched nanowhiskers by micro photoluminescence measurements and studied the effect of post annealing on nanowhiskers' luminescence. The nanowhiskers were integrated into the coplanar striplines for device testing using DC and time-resolved electro-optic characterization techniques. Our photodetectors exhibit a very low dark current below 500 pA at 10 V bias as well as a high responsivity of 0.19 A/W at 30 V, and a cut-off frequency of 1.3 THz. These characteristics make the GaAs nanowhisker photodetectors very promising candidates for high-speed optoelectronics and efficient THz emitters.
