Smart computing has been particularly notable in the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which have many applications. Battery-powered, self-configuring sensor nodes are the basis of these networks. Energy and resources are limited when it comes to sensors. Unbalanced nodes in the network consume more power, which adversely affects the network's lifespan. An improved energy-efficient cluster-based routing protocol for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (WSNs) based on the Internet of Things is proposed in this study. Several performance metrics were used to evaluate the proposed model's effectiveness, including energy efficiency, alive nodes, dead nodes, network lifetime, and residual energy. The results of the comparison were compared with existing methodologies, such as LEACH, PSO, and hybrid PSO. The proposed approach outperforms the existing model by a substantial margin in networks with 50 and 100 nodes, according to the simulation results. © 2024 IEEE.

Two main factors that limiting the efficiency of the p-type solar cells are LID(Light Induced Degradation) and LeTID(Light and elevated temperature induced degradation). The major cause of LID is the formation of boron-oxygen defects in boron doped silicon. The LeTID is similar kinds as LID, but also occurs in the dark condition and by the recombination of metals and impurities or the reaction between the hydrogen and arbitrary substance. An overall 7% of LeTID degradation rate occurs over long-term scales. Unexpectedly, these degradations have been recently found to also arises in high purity materials such as float-zone(Fz-Si) and Czochralski-grown(Cz-Si). The proposed method to reduce these two degradations is to use appropriate firing process and annealing conditions. © 2021 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.

Advances in technology have increased the use and complexity of software. The complexity of the software can increase the possibility of defects. Defective software can cause high losses. Fixing defective software requires a high cost because it can spend up 50% of the project schedule. Most software developers don't document their work properly so that making it difficult to analyse software development history data. Software metrics which use in cross-project software defects prediction have many features. Software metrics usually consist of various measurement techniques, so there are possibilities for their features to be similar. It is possible that these features are similar or irrelevant so that they can cause a decrease in the performance of classifiers. In this study, several feature selection techniques were proposed to select the relevant features. The classification algorithm used is Naive Bayes. Based on the analysis using ANOVA, the SBS and SBFS models can significantly improve the performance of the Naïve Bayes model. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

LEDs can transport the signal or data via visible light instead of radio wave in some place that the radio wave will effect the human or damage the component. Therefore, this paper presents about the digital modulation for improving not only data rate and bit error rate but also flickering, colour rendering, dimming range, luminous efficacy rate that are required to keep in a satisfactory level. There are many types of the modulation that have different property. Therefore, the literature review is discussed and shows the comparison of Return-to-zero On-Off Keying (RZ-OOK), Non-Return-to-zero On-Off Keying (NRZOOK), and Binary Phase Shifted Keying (BPSK) in the form of analytical and simulation by the graph of BER versus SNR and also the comparative table of On-Off Keying (OOK), Colour Shifted Keying (CSK), Pulse Position Modulation (PPM), Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM).

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a pivotal genetic marker influencing the efficacy of immunotherapy in colorectal cancer. Traditional MSI examination often requires additional genetic or immunohistochemical tests, whereas histology images, widely available in colorectal cancer diagnosis, offer a valuable alternative for MSI prediction. Although Transformer-based models have demonstrated promising outcomes in predicting MSI from histology images, they are hampered by traditional local attention mechanisms that struggle to capture long-range interdependencies and establish a comprehensive global receptive field. In this study, we introduce DiNAT-MSI, a novel framework for histology-based MSI prediction that incorporates the Dilated Neighborhood Attention Transformer (DiNAT). This model enhances global context recognition and substantially expands receptive fields, all without additional computational burden. Our results demonstrate that DiNAT-MSI achieves a superior patientwise AUROC compared to ResNet18 and Swin Transformer, along with commendable explainability. Our work not only illustrates a more accessible diagnostic tool for leveraging histological data but also underscores the potential of Transformerbased models with sophisticated attention designs in advancing precision medicine for colorectal cancer patients. © 2024 IEEE.

There is a health crisis in the US related to diet that is further exacerbated by our aging population and sedentary lifestyles. Six of the ten leading causes of death in the United States can be directly linked to diet. Dietary assessment, the process of determining what someone eats during the course of a day, is essential for understanding the link between diet and health. We are developing imaging based tools to automatically obtain accurate estimates of what foods a user consumes. Accurate food segmentation is essential for identifying food items and estimating food portion sizes. In this paper, we present a quantitative evaluation of automatic image segmentation methods for food image analysis used for dietary assessment. The experiments indicate that local variation is more suitable for food image segmentation in general dietary assessment studies where the food images acquired have complex background.

In this paper we investigate features and their combinations for food image analysis and a classification approach based on k-nearest neighbors and vocabulary trees. The system is evaluated on a food image dataset consisting of 1453 images of eating occasions in 42 food categories which were acquired by 45 participants in natural eating conditions. The same image dataset is used to test the classification system proposed in the previously reported work [1]. Experimental results indicate that using our combination of features and vocabulary trees for classification improves the food classification performance about 22% for the Top 1 classification accuracy and 10% for the Top 4 classification accuracy.

PAPR reduction in an OFDM system using recursive clipping and filtering technique

An Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme is expected as an efficient technique for next generation wireless communications. However, high Peak to Average Power Ration (PAPR) of OFDM system is the main drawback which degrades the transmitter power efficiency causes poor performance of the system. To reduce PAPR of OFDM signal, several works on clipping technique have been proposed. This paper is incorporated the improvement of the PAPR and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance using clipping method. It has been shown from the result that by employing the recursive clipping and filtering, 11.45 dB of PAPR of original OFDM signal is reduced down to 4.77 dB. Hence, BER is also increased significantly. This research is carried out through MATLAB simulation and gradually measured the effect of PAPR on BER under AWGN channel for 16QAM scheme with 256 points OFDM. Moreover, it is studied the effect of OFDM signal while passing through High Power Amplifier (HPA). Finally, the PAPR reduction technique such as recursive clipping and filtering (RCF) is implemented.
