Industrial Cyber-Physical systems (ICPS) integrating disciplines such as computer science, communication technology, and engineering, have become a crucial component of modern manufacturing and industry. However, ICPS faces numerous challenges during long-term operation, including equipment faults, performance degradation, and security threats, etc. To achieve efficient maintenance and management, prognostics and health management (PHM) has been widely applied in the critical tasks of ICPS such as fault prediction, health monitoring, and maintenance decision-making. The emergence of large-scale foundation models (LFMs) like BERT and GPT marks a significant advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, demonstrating substantial application potential in multiple fields. The accumulation of AI technology, rapid development of LFMs, and the abundance of industrial data and industrial process knowledge provide the foundational conditions for the construction and advancement of industrial LFMs. However, there is currently a lack of consensus on applying LFMs of PHM in ICPS, necessitating a systematic review and roadmap to clarify future development directions. To bridge this gap, this survey provides a comprehensive survey and understanding of the recent advances in LFMs of PHM in ICPS. It provides valuable references for decision makers and researchers in the industry, and helps to further improve the reliability, availability and safety of ICPS. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents design and measurement verification of a compact monopole antenna with 923 MHz operating frequency for LoRaWAN Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The size of the proposed antenna is 13.11 × 22.95 mm2 which is extremely small compared to the wavelength at the operating frequency. The substrate material is FR-4 with a nominal relative dielectric constant of ϵr=4.3, loss tangent of tanδ=0.2 and a thickness of 1.6 mm. Miniaturization of the proposed antenna was achieved by using a short stub similar to the case with an inverted-F antenna combined with a folded monopole radiator. The measurement results of the proposed antenna show an impedance matching bandwidth of 4.5 MHz and a peak gain of-11.86 dBi with an omnidirectional radiation pattern. The low gain is typical for an electrically small antenna of this size according to the physical gain limit. Due to its extremely compact size, the proposed antenna is a good candidate for small IoT devices which can easily be integrated to physical objects in everyday life. © 2020 IEEE.

An Internet-of-Things (IoT) system is generally composed of endpoint clients, network devices, and cloud servers. As such, data transfers in the network are full of security concerns. Besides, coming booming IoT applications will accelerate the network infrastructure to provide timely and safe information exchange services. Existing network could have a shortcoming of static key authentication. To enable an automatic key-update mechanism for IoT devices to enhance security in Machine-ToIȩMachine (M2M) communications, we implemented a lightweight key-update mechanism based on the libcoap library. Experimental results show that just 1.03% latency overhead is added for a better security performance. © 2020 IEEE.

The smart home integrates home-related facilities, which can greatly facilitate people’s life. To support applications such as breath detection and health monitoring for the smart home, it is significant to understand the effect of the human body on the characteristics of the wireless channel. In this paper, the channel characteristics for human exhalation and inhalation at 6.5 GHz are measured and analyzed. Based on the measurement results in the living room scenario, the ray tracing (RT) simulator is calibrated and used to analyze the continuous process of exhalation and inhalation. According to the measurement and simulation results, the effect of human exhalation and inhalation processes on the power and phase of the received signal is studied. The analysis of this paper could be useful in guiding the deployment of smart home devices for human body monitoring. The calibrated electromagnetic (EM) parameters of typical indoor materials will support RT-based channel simulation and modeling in indoor scenarios.

The concept of virtual coupling train convoys shows promise for improving railway capacity. This approach typically involves a “leader-follower” control strategy for multiple objects, such as vehicles and drones. In order to allow followers to enter the convoy, the operation status and trajectory of the leader vehicle must be optimized. This paper examines field data collected on Guangzhou Metro Line 22, and the velocity-distance curve shows consistency among the test runs, enabling coupling possibilities. Considering constraints such as safety constraints, train dynamic model constraints, and velocity limitation constraints, when the train operating trajectory expressed by polynomial curves is incorporated into the objective function, the resulting optimization strategy can be solved using quadratic programming methods. With the optimized trajectory by the proposed method, the average acceleration decreased by 0.009 m/s 2 to 0.024 m/s 2 , and the standard deviation decreased by 0.024 m/s 2 to 0.181 m/s 2 , Using the field collected data, the paper simulates train operations under virtual coupling, leader train using the optimized train trajectory, follower train employing the pure pursuit. The correlation coefficient of the velocity time series between the leader train and the follower train is 0.9996. The headway can also be shortened to 193.15 m average and a standard deviation of 6.44 m.

system logs provide rich information about the current system's state. To make use of system logs, various existing work extracts a causal graph from the log events, and then applies graph-based machine learning algorithms to detect the anomalous behaviors. One limitation of these work is that they treat the graph in a static way, neglecting the dynamic nature of anomalous behaviors. In this paper, we propose to detect anomalous behaviors based on system logs using dynamic graph modeling. Our method consists of several key steps, including negative sampling which helps to balance the dataset, edge encoding which encodes the spatial information for each behavior, and sequence modeling which further models the temporal information. Experimental evaluations on real datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2023 IEEE.
