The Triple Helix innovation model focuses on university-industry-government relations. The Quadruple Helix embeds the Triple Helix by adding as a fourth helix the ‘media-based and culture-based public’ and ‘civil society’. The Quintuple Helix innovation model is even broader and more comprehensive by contextualizing the Quadruple Helix and by additionally adding the helix (and perspective) of the ‘natural environments of society’. The Triple Helix acknowledges explicitly the importance of higher education for innovation. However, in one line of interpretation it could be argued that the Triple Helix places the emphasis on knowledge production and innovation in the economy so it is compatible with the knowledge economy. The Quadruple Helix already encourages the perspective of the knowledge society, and of knowledge democracy for knowledge production and innovation. In a Quadruple Helix understanding, the sustainable development of a knowledge economy requires a coevolution with the knowledge society. The Quintuple Helix stresses the necessary socioecological transition of society and economy in the twenty-first century; therefore, the Quintuple Helix is ecologically sensitive. Within the framework of the Quintuple Helix innovation model, the natural environments of society and the economy also should be seen as drivers for knowledge production and innovation, therefore defining opportunities for the knowledge economy. The European Commission in 2009 identified the socioecological transition as a major challenge for the future roadmap of development. The Quintuple Helix supports here the formation of a win-win situation between ecology, knowledge and innovation, creating synergies between economy, society, and democracy. Global warming represents an area of ecological concern, to which the Quintuple Helix innovation model can be applied with greater potential.

At the same time, they require an infrastructure to implement heterogeneous computing resources time and cost-savely. Here, approaches that utilize design patterns, i.e., proven solutions to existing problems, seem to provide a good approach to enable these kind of applications. In this paper, we investigated which design patterns are already used in the area of Grid computing nowadays. After a brief description of the literature study design, we present our findings which include the discovered design patterns, corresponding categories, and application areas.

Cooperative access among user devices by sharing wireless access bandwidth opens a new paradigm in heterogeneous networks. However, how to stimulate cooperative relay nodes forwarding service data for others and allocating corresponding bandwidth to support it are two key issues in the cooperative access. This paper proposes a Stackelberg game based framework which is benefit participants including relay nodes and client nodes. This framework generalizes the pricing based bandwidth allocation algorithm by the Stackelberg game model, which optimizes the profit of the cooperative relay nodes while guaranteeing the bandwidth requirements of client nodes. We transform the profit maximization problem into a convex problem and solve it using the convex optimization method. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed framework and corresponding algorithms outperform the bidding weight proportional fairness and fixed value bandwidth allocation ones significantly.

Conventional classification algorithms need samples for all classes (e.g. normal and abnormal) during the training phase. However, in many anomaly detection application, we can only get a class samples (commonly, normal samples) to train detectors. This paper presents an improved negative selection algorithm (NSA) and its applications to anomaly detection. This approach can only use normal samples to train detectors;at the same time, in order to overcome the drawbacks of the current representation of the self-space in NSAs, a new scheme of the representation of the self-space is introduced with variable-sized self-radius. In our experiments, this approach is tested using the wellknown real world datasets;preliminary results show that the new approach improves the overall performance of detectors and without increase in complexity.

In this work, we propose a correlated equilibrium (CE)-based energy-efficient resource allocation scheme for uplink OFDMA systems. At first, we construct an energy-efficient resource allocation game, where each subcarrier is viewed as a player to choose the most satisfying user, and the objective is to balance the tradeoff between the total energy efficiency and the fairness. Since the CE can achieve better performance by helping the non-cooperative players coordinate their strategies, we employ the CE to analyze the proposed game. Next, we derive the condition under which the CE is Pareto optimal and employ linear programming duality to show its closed-form expressions. Furthermore, we present a linear programming method and a distributed algorithm based on the regret matching procedure to implement the CE, respectively. Simulation results demonstrate that our scheme is able to achieve good convergence, Pareto optimality, and fairness.

This paper summarizes an initiative undertaken by PIEp, KTH and Stanford University to stimulate Swedish engineering faculty to embrace methods and tools for integrating creativity and innovation in higher engineering education. Ultimately, building on previous experiences of successful workshops held by PIEp and KTH within this context, the overall ambition is to establish a change in mindsets, and by so influencing key participants to directly leave endurable footprints onto their respective Swedish engineering educationprograms. The paper has a descriptive character blending 'best-of-both-worlds' concepts as it reveals how a nationwide Swedish initiative has set up a learning hub overseas together with Stanford University. Utilizing this source of entrepreneurial and inspiring environment the ambition is to equip Swedish faculty with experiences, success stories and lessons learned to enthusiasm and challenge existing program and curricula design. Overall, this paper entails the set-up, reflections and actions outlined by Swedish university representatives to address implementation of more transferability between innovation characteristics in respective educationprograms.
