Artificial intelligence (AI) applications in forestry as well as wildlife domains have become more feasible due to the advancements in data science and digital and satellite technologies. However, there is a serious global threat to biodiversity due to the rapid expansion of urban, agricultural, and development initiatives. Therefore, the effective monitoring, management, and preservation of biodiversity as well as forest resources may be facilitated by integration of cutting-edge methods like AI in disciplines of forests as well as biodiversity. This study suggests a novel approach to disaster management based on biodiversity protection that makes use of machine learning models and remote sensing image analysis. In this case, the data for disaster management has been gathered and processed for normalisation and smoothing. The processed image features have been segmented using active contour Gaussian Q- histogram equalisation model and feature extracted using probabilistic Bayesian fuzzy transfer NN. Experimental analysis is carried out based on parameters like random accuracy, average precision, sensitivity, AUC, and normalized co-efficient. The proposed technique attained average precision was 95%, sensitivity was 97%, random accuracy was 98%, and normalized coefficient was 94%, AUC of 96%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In today's advanced technological age, characterized by innovations like big data processing, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), there is a rising utilization of medical multimedia data, especially medical images. These images, integral to the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT), necessitate secure transmission due to the increasing risks of unauthorized breaches and tampering. Current security methods, especially for cloud and mobile platforms, often struggle with challenges related to processing capacity, memory use, data size, and energy, making them ill-suited for extensive medical data or resource-limited environments. To address these challenges, this study introduces a novel hybrid cryptosystem, drawing on the unique qualities of the optical Arnold chaotic map, DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid) sequences, and Mandelbrot keys, providing a fortified approach to the secure streaming of medical images. The proposed framework operates via a precise and structured procedure. It begins by applying the optical Arnold chaotic map cipher to each of the three-color channels (R, G, and B) within a medical image. This is followed by overlaying DNA encoding sequences on the resultant encrypted image from the earlier ciphering phase. Leveraging this groundwork, we incorporate an advanced Mandelbrot set-driven shift mechanism specifically designed to create complex confusion patterns within the R, G, and B segments of the encrypted medical imagery. The efficacy of the proposed cryptosystem is rigorously substantiated through an extensive array of simulations supported by a comprehensive security analysis. The results highlight its unparalleled resilience and security capabilities in the realm of medical image encryption, marking a significant leap over previous systems in the literature. Future wireless networks could benefit from the energy-efficient, low-latency, and scalable deployments that Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) offer. However, the creation of an effective low overhead channel estimate technique is a major obstacle in RIS-assisted systems, especially given the high number of RIS components and intrinsic hardware constraints. This research examines the uplink of a RIS-empowered multi-user MIMO communication system and presents a novel semi-blind channel estimate approach. Unlike current approaches, which rely on pilot-based channel estimation, our methodology uses data to estimate channels, considerably enhancing the achievable rate. We provide a closed-form deterministic expression for the uplink achievable rate in actual settings where the channel state information (CSI) must be estimated rather than assumed perfect. The results of the simulations show that the formula obtained is accurate, with a close alignment between the deterministic and actual achievable rates (generally between 2 5% deviations). The proposed approach outperforms traditional approaches, resulting in rate increases of up to 35–40%, especially in instances with more RIS elements. These findings illustrate RIS technology's tremendous potential to improve system capacity and coverage, providing useful insights for optimizing RIS adoption in future wireless networks. © 2020 IEEE.

In the context of Internet of Things edge devices, pretrained models are often sourced directly from cloud computing platforms due to the unavailability of training data. This lack of access during the training phase makes these models susceptible to backdoor attacks. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel data-free backdoor removal method that operates effectively even when only the poisoned model is accessible. Our innovative approach employs two end-to-end generators with identical architectures to create both clean and poisoned samples. These samples are crucial for transferring knowledge from the teacher model—the fixed poisoned model—to the student model, which is initialized with the poisoned model. Our method utilizes a channel shuffling technique during the distillation process to disrupt and eliminate the backdoor knowledge embedded in the teacher model. This process involves iterative updates of the generators and meticulous distillation of the student model, leading to efficient backdoor removal. We conducted extensive experiments on five sophisticated backdoor attacks across two benchmark datasets. The results demonstrate that our method not only significantly bolsters the model’s resistance to backdoor attacks but also maintains high recognition accuracy for clean samples, thereby outperforming existing methods. © 2014 IEEE.

DeepFakes and face image manipulation methods have been widely distributed in the last few years and several techniques have been presented to check the authenticity of the face image and detect manipulation if exists. Most of the available manipulation detection techniques have been successfully applied to reveal one type of manipulation under specific conditions, however, many limitations and challenges can be encountered in this field. To overcome some limitations and challenges, this paper presents a new face image authentication (FIA) scheme based on Multi-Task Cascaded Conventional Neural Networks (MTCNN) and watermarking in Slantlet transform (SLT) domain. The proposed FIA scheme has three main algorithms that are face detection and selection, embedding, and extraction algorithms. Different block sizes have been used to divide the image into non-overlapping blocks followed by classifying them into two groups that are blocks from face area (FA) and blocks from the remaining area (RA) of the image. In the embedding algorithms, the authentication information is generated from FA blocks and embedded in the RA blocks. In the extraction algorithms, the embedded information is extracted from RA blocks and compared with the calculated data from FA blocks to reveal manipulations and localize the manipulated blocks if exist. Extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed FIA scheme for different face images. The experimental work included tests for payload, capacity, visual quality, time complexity, and localization of manipulations. The results proved the efficiency of the proposed scheme in detecting and localizing different face image manipulations such as attributes attacks, retouching attacks, expression swap, face swap, and morphing attacks. Optimization mechanism of energy efficiency in coexisting wireless body area networks

This paper studies the optimization of energy efficiency in coexisting wireless body area networks (WBANs). A solution based on combining a naive Bayesian classifier with the Hungarian algorithm is proposed to improve link transmission energy efficiency. The solution is implemented in the following three steps: Firstly, the interference from surrounding WBANs is identified based on a naive Bayesian classifier considering the distance among WBANs, the residual energy of the sensor nodes, and the transmission power of the sensor nodes. Secondly, the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio is determined according to the results of the naive Bayesian classifier. Thirdly, the time slots are allocated adaptively by using the Hungarian algorithm to maximize the overall energy efficiency. The simulation results show that the scheme can improve the overall energy efficiency of the WBAN significantly while ensuring quality of service. In comparison with the iterative algorithm and the PONF algorithm, the proposed scheme has obvious advantages in improving energy efficiency. © 2025 The Authors. During the design and manufacturing stages of IoT devices, there is a risk of Hardware Trojans (HTs) being inserted into circuits due to the intervention of outside companies. One method for effectively detecting HTs from gate-level netlists is to use an ensemble learning model. In this paper, we use four ensemble learning models: Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost, and evaluate the accuracy of HT detection by adding a new Trojan circuit generated using an automatic HT generation framework as a netlist for training and evaluation. We also use SMOTE, ADASYN, and Borderline-SMOTE as oversampling methods used in training, and evaluate the HT detection accuracy when the hyperparameters of each method are optimized.

Background: The automated classification of videos through artificial neural networks is addressed in this work. To explore the concepts and measure the results, the data set UCF101 is used, consisting of video clips taken from YouTube to recognize actions. The study is carried out with the authors' resources to determine the feasibility of independent research in the area. Methods: This work was developed in the Python programming language using the Keras library with Tensorflow as the back-end. The objective is to develop a network that presents performance compatible with the state of the art in terms of classifying videos according to the actions taken. Results: Given the hardware limitations, there is considerable distance between the implementation possibilities in this work and what is known as the state-of-the-art. Conclusion: Throughout the work, some aspects in which this limitation influenced the development are presented, but it is shown that this realization is feasible and that obtaining expressive results is possible 98.6% accuracy is obtained in the UCF101 data set, compared to the 98 percentage points of the best result ever reported, using, however, considerably fewer resources. In addition, the importance of transfer learning in achieving expressive results as well as the different performances of each architecture are reviewed. Thus, this work may open doors to carry patent-based outcomes. © 2025 Bentham Science Publishers.

We provide efficient algorithms to solve package delivery problems in which a sequence of drones work together to ‘optimally’ deliver a package from a source s to a target t. The package may be transferred from one drone to another only on a given line on which secure package transfers are ensured (we refer to this as monitored constraints). We allow the source and target to lie outside of this line. The drones have different starting locations, speeds, and rates of fuel consumption. Two notions of optimality are studied—fuel-efficient delivery (minimize total fuel consumption in a successful delivery), and fastest delivery (minimize total time for delivery). © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Distributed Distortion-Aware Beamforming Designs for Cell-Free mMIMO Systems

Cell-free massive multi-input multi-output (CF-mMIMO) systems have emerged as a promising paradigm for next-generation wireless communications, offering enhanced spectral efficiency and coverage through distributed antenna arrays. However, the non-linearity of power amplifiers (PAs) in these arrays introduce spatial distortion, which may significantly degrade system performance. This paper presents the first investigation of distortion-aware beamforming in a distributed framework tailored for CF-mMIMO systems, enabling pre-compensation for beam dispersion caused by nonlinear PA distortion. Using a third-order memoryless polynomial distortion model, the impact of the nonlinear PA on the performance of CF-mMIMO systems is firstly analyzed by evaluating the signal-to-interference-noise-and-distortion ratio (SINDR) at user equipment (UE). Then, we develop two distributed distortion-aware beamforming designs based on ring topology and star topology, respectively. In particular, the ring-topology-based fully-distributed approach reduces interconnection costs and computational complexity, while the star-topology-based partially-distributed scheme leverages the superior computation capability of the central processor to achieve improved sum-rate performance. Extensive simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed distortion-aware beamforming designs in mitigating the effect of nonlinear PA distortion, while also reducing computational complexity and backhaul information exchange in CF-mMIMO systems. © 2025 IEEE.
