In Power Line communications(PLC),there are regulatory masks that restrict the transmit power spectral density for electromagnetic compatibility reasons,which creates coverage issues despite the not too long ***,PLC networks often employ repeaters/relays,especially in smart grid neighborhood area *** in broadband indoor PLC systems that offer a notable data rate,relaying may pave the way to new applications like being the backbone for wireless technologies in a cost-effective manner to support the Internet-of-things *** this paper,we study Multiple-Input Multiple-Output(MIMO)PLC systems that incorporate inband full-duplex functionality in relaying *** present several MIMO configurations that allow end-to-end half-duplex or full-duplex operations and analyze the achievable performance with state-of-the-art PLC *** reach this analysis,we get channel realizations from random network layouts for indoor and outdoor *** adopt realistic MIMO channel and noise models and consider transmission techniques according to PLC *** concepts discussed in this work can be useful in the design of future PLC relay-aided networks for different applications that look for a coverage extension and/or throughput:smart grids with enhanced communications in outdoor scenarios,and“last meter”systems for high-speed connections everywhere in indoor ones.

Dielectric resonator magnetoelectric dipole(DRMED)arrays with enhanced isolation,reduced cross-polarization,and backward radiation are proposed for base station(BS)*** proposed antenna comprises an elevated dielectric resonator antenna(DRA)on a small metal plate above a sizeable common ground *** DRA is designed in its T Eδ11 mode,acting like a magnetic *** surface current excited by the differential probes flowing on the small ground plane is equivalent to an electric *** these two equivalent dipoles are orthogonal,they have the magnetoelectric dipole characteristics with reduced backward ***,the small ground planes can be treated as decoupling structures to provide a neutralization path to cancel the original coupling path.A linearly-polarized 4-element prototype array was verified experimentally in previous ***,a dual-polarized DRMED antenna is presented to construct a 2-element and 4×4 array for BS *** investigate its MIMO performance,sophisticated multi-cell scenario simulations are carried *** using the proposed dualpolarized DRMED array,the cellular system capacityis improved by 118.6%compared to a conventional DRA *** significant MIMO system improvement is mainly due to the reduced backward radiation and,therefore,reduced inter-cell *** align well with the simulations.

Numerical association rule mining offers a very efficient way of mining association rules, where algorithms can operate directly with categorical and numerical attributes. These methods are suitable for mining different transaction databases, where data are entered sequentially. However, little attention has been paid to the time series numerical association rule mining, which offers a new technique for extracting association rules from time series data. This paper presents a new algorithmic method for time series numerical association rule mining and its application in smart agriculture. We offer a concept of a hardware environment for monitoring plant parameters and a novel data mining method with practical experiments. The practical experiments showed the method’s potential and opened the door for further extension. © 2023, The Author(s).

In recent years, it has been found that screen content images (SCI) can be effectively compressed based on appropriate probability modelling and suitable entropy coding methods such as arithmetic coding. The key objective is determining the best probability distribution for each pixel position. This strategy works particularly well for images with synthetic (textual) content. However, usually screen content images not only consist of synthetic but also pictorial (natural) regions. These images require diverse models of probability distributions to be optimally compressed. One way to achieve this goal is to separate synthetic and natural regions. This paper proposes a segmentation method that identifies natural regions enabling better adaptive treatment. It supplements a compression method known as Soft Context Formation (SCF) and operates as a pre-processing step. If at least one natural segment is found within the SCI, it is split into two subimages (natural and synthetic parts) and the process of modelling and coding is performed separately for both. For SCIs with natural regions, the proposed method achieves a bit-rate reduction of up to 11.6% and 1.52% with respect to HEVC and the previous version of the SCF. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the current use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in fire evacuation and extinction. It examines the different approaches to the problem and technologies like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and mathematical algorithms that can be used to determine the optimal evacuation route. It also evaluates existing fire security solutions such as smoke, flame, motion, and gas sensors, LED lights, buzzers, and SMS modules. Entities that specialize in Residential and Commercial Security Systems and Home Automation are also discussed, along with the services they offer. The main objective of this study is to understand current systems and resources regarding fire evacuation and extinction systems and to analyze different developments in smart buildings to create an efficient system for fire detection and evacuation. © 2023 IEEE.

The new era of technology is being greatly influenced by the field of artificial intelligence. computer vision and deep learning have become increasingly important due to their ability to process vast amounts of data and provide insights and solutions in a variety of fields. computer vision, deep learning and signal analysis have been used in a growing number of applications and services including smart devices, image, and speech recognition, healthcare, etc., one such device is an infant monitoring system. It monitors the daily activities of the infant such as their sleeping patterns, sounds, and movements. In this paper, deep learning and computer vision libraries were used to develop algorithms to detect whether the infant was in any uncomfortable situation such as sleeping on its back, face being covered and whether the infant was awake. The smart infant monitoring system detects the infant's unsafe resting situation in real time and sent immediate alerts to the caretaker's device. This paper presents the design flow of a smart infant monitoring system consisting of a night vision camera, a Jetson Nano, and a Wi-Fi internet connection. The pose estimation and awake detection algorithms were developed and tested successfully for different infant resting/sleeping situations. The smart infant monitoring system provides significant benefits for safety and an improved understanding of infants' sleep patterns and behavior. © 2023 IEEE.

We provide an analytical characterization of the coverage region of simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS)-Aided two-user downlink communication systems. The cases of orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are considered, under the energy-splitting (ES) protocol. Results confirm that the use of STAR-RISs is beneficial to extend the coverage region, and that the use of NOMA provides a better performance compared to the OMA counterpart. However, the effect of imperfect successive interference cancellation degrades the performance of NOMA and needs to be considered for a realistic analysis. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

In this letter, we study the performance of a single-user fluid antenna system (FAS) under arbitrary fading distributions, in which the fading channel coefficients over the ports are correlated. We adopt copula theory to model the structure of dependency between fading coefficients. Specifically, we first derive an exact closed-from expression for the outage probability in the most general case, i.e., for any arbitrary choice of fading distribution and copula. Afterwards, for an important specific case, we analyze the performance of the outage probability under correlated Nakagami-m fading channels by exploiting popular Archimedean copulas, namely, Frank, Clayton, and Gumbel. The results confirm that the spatial correlation dependency structure for the FAS is a key factor to determine its performance, which is natively captured through the choice of copula. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Lack of sufficient patient monitoring data patterns and scenarios are among the challenges for accurate traffic modeling and network performance optimization when considering IoT medical devices. This paper examines how health data-traffic models can be used to investigate the capability and proper configuration of Long-Range Wide Area Networks (LoRaWAN) for remotely monitoring patients in a hospital environment or at home. For the hospital environment, it is assumed that there are two types of patients at any given time i.e., patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) or surgical wards and those located in the general medical wards. The transmission times of the health data from patients in the ICU/Surgical wards and those in general wards are randomly distributed within one and four-hour periods, respectively. For personal health monitoring devices that people use at their homes, a two-state Markov chain is used to model the generated traffic pattern. Preliminary results indicate that LoRaWAN may be used to support a significant number of nodes with sufficient reliability in both scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

this paper presents the conception of analysis tool whose efficiency tested in an acoustic investigation emphatic sounds of Standard Arabic (SA). During software development, techniques based on computational algorithms are used in programming, in particular the algorithms of automatic Formant extraction using Linear Prediction Coding (LPC) to develop the analysis parameters which are significant factors for acoustic structure development language. The acoustic analysis aims to measure vowel formant frequencies (F1-F3) of phonemes [d], [t], [z], [s] their non-emphatic counterparts [d], [t], [z], [s] and at initial, medial, and final position. Formant structures show the effect of emphatic consonants on SA vowels by a raised F1, lowered F2, and raised F3 in the vowel adjacent to the emphatic consonant. The pattern across a rapprochement between F1 and F2 suggests that emphasis involves a constriction near the epiglottis. © 2022 IEEE.
