In this paper, to characterize the predictability of discrete-time continuous-state stochastic dynamical system (SDS) and use predictability to explain the probability of making accurate predictions, we have proposed a new performance metric, i.e., predictability exponent. This metric quantifies the asymptotic exponential decaying rate of the probability that prediction errors never exceed a fixed ϵ. The novelties of this predictability metric lie in that it is proposed from an asymptotic probabilistic perspective, which i) minimizes the exponential decaying rate of prediction probability, ii) holds an approximated expression deeply related with differential entropy within an error of O(ϵ), and iii) possesses a fast converging speed from finite decaying rate of O(e −K ) in the sense of probability. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained results.

This paper proposes an adaptive back-stepping tracking control with prescribed performance function for vehicle suspension systems with uncertain parameters. The prescribed performance function can lead the tracking error from a large set to an arbitrarily small residual set. Firstly, the constrained tracking error system incorporating the prescribed performance functions is transformed into unconstrained form. Then an adaptive updating scheme based on the projection algorithm is designed to estimate the uncertain parameter. Following that an adaptive nonlinear controller is designed using the back-stepping technique, and the stability of whole controlled systems is proved by the Lyapunov theory. Meanwhile, the state convergence of the internal dynamical system is also guaranteed. Finally, simulation results are provided to verify the proposed approach.

Topology inference for networked dynamical systems (NDSs) has received considerable attention in recent years. The majority of pioneering works have dealt with inferring the topology from abundant observations of NDSs, so as to approximate the real one asymptotically. Leveraging the characteristic that NDSs will react to various disturbances and the disturbance’s influence will consistently spread, this paper focuses on inferring the topology by a few active excitations. The key challenge is to distinguish different influences of system noises and excitations from the exhibited state deviations, where the influences will decay with time and the excitation cannot be arbitrarily large. To practice, we propose a one-shot excitation based inference method to infer h-hop neighbors of a node. The excitation conditions for accurate one-hop neighbor inference are first derived with probability guarantees. Then, we extend the results to h-hop neighbor inference and multiple excitations cases, providing the explicit relationships between the inference accuracy and excitation magnitude. Specifically, the excitation based inference method is not only suitable for scenarios where abundant observations are unavailable, but also can be leveraged as auxiliary means to improve the accuracy of existing methods. Simulations are conducted to verify the analytical results.

This paper proposes a fragility-aware stealthy attack for multiple mobile robots to secretly learn the accurate model of a multi-hop wireless network (MHWN). The stealthy attack scenario consists of three steps: active detection, node hijacking, and network eavesdropping. Our goal is to design distributed motion control strategies for naive attackers, for obtaining the connectivity information to evaluate the fragility degree of each node in MHWN. We designed a switching control strategy, which includes (i) move-to-fragile-neighbors-barycenter (MFNB) law and (ii) move-to-undetected-region-centroid (MURC) law. This strategy can drive mobile attackers to detect, hijack and eavesdrop on the MHWN’s nodes as quickly as possible. As a result, the fragility degree map of MHWN can be secretly learned to paralyze the whole network. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed strategy is effective.

Aiming at the potential safety hazards of silicon single crystal production enterprises in the process of multi-furnace silicon single crystal production, and considering the maximum power load requirements in actual enterprises, a silicon single crystal production process scheduling model with the goal of minimizing the maximum completion time was established. Based on this model, an adaptive improved particle swarm optimization algorithm (Adaptive GPSO) is proposed to solve it. The algorithm retains the individual optimal value and global optimal value of the particle swarm algorithm, and introduces the crossover operation and mutation operation in the genetic algorithm to improve the new individual generation mechanism. At the same time, it performs dynamic iterative calculations on the mutation probability and crossover probability to avoid the algorithm fall into the local optimum, and improve the diversity and convergence of the algorithm. By solving different scales scheduling problems of silicon single crystal production process, the experiments on real-world data shows that the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Modularization facilitates the adaptability of cyber-physical production systems (CPPSs) with a variety of collaborative tasks. Various production rules can be captured by signal temporal logic (STL) specifications imposed on interconnected multi-agent systems (MASs). In this paper, we focus on the controller synthesis of STL tasks for interconnected MASs to accomplish collaborative tasks in modular CPPSs. Firstly, a class of STL specifications characterizing tasks by the combination of fixed-time reachability and finite-time persistence tasks is proposed, which encompasses a large class of production specifications for the MAS. Secondly, the acyclic decomposition of the global STL formula is constructed to enable conflict-free collaborative tasks and unidirectional couplings between subsystems. By establishing the equivalence between the proposition and the state set of the MAS, necessary and sufficient conditions are respectively proposed for the satisfaction of reachability and persistence tasks. In addition, an algorithm is presented to synthesize controllers for the MAS with the global STL specification based on local controllers of subsystems. An illustrative example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Preserving details and avoiding high computational costs are the two main challenges for the High-Resolution Salient Object Detection (HRSOD) task. In this paper, we propose a two-stage HRSOD model from the perspective of evolution and succession, including an evolution stage with Low-resolution Location Model (LrLM) and a succession stage with High-resolution Refinement Model (HrRM). The evolution stage achieves detail-preserving salient objects localization on the low-resolution image through the evolution mechanisms on supervision and feature; the succession stage utilizes the shallow high-resolution features to complement and enhance the features inherited from the first stage in a lightweight manner and generate the final high-resolution saliency prediction. Besides, a new metric named Boundary-Detail-aware Mean Absolute Error (MAEBD) is designed to evaluate the ability to detect details in high-resolution scenes. Extensive experiments on five datasets demonstrate that our network achieves superior performance at real-time speed (49 FPS) compared to state-of-the-art methods. Meticulous 3D environment representations have been a longstanding goal in computer vision and robotics fields. The recent emergence of neural implicit representations has introduced radical innovation to this field as implicit representations enable numerous capabilities. Among these, the Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) has sparked a trend because of the huge representational advantages, such as simplified mathematical models, compact environment storage, and continuous scene representations. Apart from computer vision, NeRF has also shown tremendous potential in the field of robotics. Thus, we create this survey to provide a comprehensive understanding of NeRF in the field of robotics. By exploring the advantages and limitations of NeRF, as well as its current applications and future potential, we hope to shed light on this promising area of research. Our survey is divided into two main sections: The Application of NeRF in Robotics and The Advance of NeRF in Robotics, from the perspective of how NeRF enters the field of robotics. In the first section, we introduce and analyze some works that have been or could be used in the field of robotics from the perception and interaction perspectives. In the second section, we show some works related to improving NeRF's own properties, which are essential for deploying NeRF in the field of robotics. With advancements in science and technology, photon-counting LiDAR applications are growing due to long-range measurement, high-definition imaging, and accuracy. Geiger-mode avalanche photodiodes (Gm-APD) provide single-photon sensitivity and picosecond resolution, but noise in depth estimation affects imaging accuracy. This study introduces a novel depth estimation method using time series correlation to mitigate these noise issues, improving accuracy in LiDAR imaging. Utilizing a photon-counting LiDAR system and time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC), this study capture target echo photon flight times to maintain depth information. The proposed denoising approach incorporates multiple time series windows and Bayesian estimation to enhance depth accuracy, alongside a pruning algorithm to optimize computational efficiency. Evaluation metrics show significant improvements: RSNR improved by 4% and MAE decreased by 43 % compared to traditional methods. The findings demonstrate the robustness of this method across various scenarios, enhancing depth estimation and noise mitigation in photon-counting LiDAR technology, thereby providing practical improvements for a range of applications.

Distributed Observer Design over Directed Switching Topologies

The distributed observer design problem holds significant importance in cases in which the output information of a system is decentralized across different subsystems. Each subsystem has a local observer and access to one part of the measurement outputs and information exchanged through communication networks. This paper focuses on the design of distributed observer with jointly connected directed switching networks. The problem presents challenges due to passive switching modes and the open-loop unboundedness that results from local observability. To overcome these challenges, we develop a network transformation mapping method whereby each local observer can classify itself into an independent subgraph based on independent judgment. Next, an observable decomposition and reorganization method is developed for the digraph case to ensure that each subgraph possesses independent dynamic properties. Asymptotic omniscience is then proven using a developed recursive proof method. This paper includes many previous results as special cases, because most are only suitable for undirected switching topologies or fast-switching cases. An adaptive coupling gain design is proposed to simplify the calculation and verification of conditions that guarantee asymptotic omniscience.
