Federated learning is a distributed machine learning approach that trains models with multiple clients and data locally. However, the existing methods ignore the differences between local models caused by the data heterogeneity, and give a high aggregation weight for the low-quality local model, which leads to low accuracy of the global model. For this problem, we propose a federated learning method based on data importance weighted aggregation, FedAG. It constructs an evaluation model of data importance based on the data distribution skewness, data volume, and data quality of clients, and aggregates local models with different weights computed by the evaluation model of data importance into a global model. We make experiments on five datasets including EMNIST, MNIST, and CIFAR-10. The results show that the accuracy of FedAG is respectively improved by 6.5%, 1.8%, 1.3% and 2.1%, compared with FedAvg, FedProx, FedVar, and Scaffold algorithms.

There is an increasing concern of face privacy protection along with the wide application of big media data and social networks due to free online data release. Although some pioneering works obtained some achievements, they are not sufficient enough for sanitizing the sensitive identity information. In this paper, we propose a generative approach to de-identify face images yet preserving the non-sensitive information for data reusability. To ensure a high privacy level, we introduce a large-margin model for the synthesized new identities by keeping a safe distance with both the input identity and existing identities. Besides, we show that our face de-identification operation follows the (Formula Presented)-differential privacy rule which can provide a rigorous privacy notion in theory. We evaluate the proposed approach using the vggface dataset and compare with several state-of-the-art methods. The results show that our approach outperforms previous solutions for effective face privacy protection while preserving the major utilities. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

We investigate the dynamical relaxation behavior of the two-point correlation in extended XY models with a gapless phase after quenches from various initial states. Specifically, we study the XY chain with gapless phase induced by the following additional interactions: Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and the XZY-YZX type of three-site interaction. When quenching from the gapped phase, we observe that the additional interactions have no effect on the relaxation behavior. The relaxation behavior is δCmn(t)∼t−3/2 and ∼t−1/2 for the quench to the commensurate phase and the incommensurate phase, respectively. However, when quenching from the gapless phase, we demonstrate that the scaling behavior of δCmn(t) is changed to ∼t−1 for the quench to the commensurate phase, and the decay of δCmn(t) follows ∼t−1 or ∼t−1/2 for the quench to the incommensurate phase depending on the parameters of prequench Hamiltonian. We also establish the dynamical phase diagrams based on the dynamical relaxation behavior of δCmn(t) in the extended XY models.

The polynomial-chaos-kriging (PC-Kriging) method has been derived as a new uncertainty propagation approach and widely used for robust design optimization in a straightforward manner, of which the statistical moments would be estimated through directly conducting Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) on the PC-Kriging model. However, the computational cost still cannot be negligible because thousands of statistical moment estimations might be performed during robust optimization, especially for highly nonlinear and complicated engineering problems. An analytical statistical moment estimation method is derived for PC-Kriging in this work to reduce the computational cost rather than referring to MCS. Meanwhile, a sequential sampling strategy is applied for PC-Kriging model construction, in which the sample points are not generated all at once, but sequentially allocated in the region with the largest prediction uncertainty to improve the accuracy of PC-Kriging model as much as possible. Through testing on three mathematical examples and an airfoil robust optimization design problem, it is noticed that the improved PC-Kriging method with analytical statistical moment estimation and sequential sampling strategy is more efficient than the traditional ones, demonstrating its effectiveness and advantage. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

With the development of urbanization,the number of residents' motor vehicles has increased sharply,and traffic congestion problem has become increasingly *** construction of Intelligent Traffic System(ITS) has become the main means to alleviate traffic ***-term traffic flow prediction has guiding significance for residents' travel planning and intelligent management of transportation,and has become one of the research hotspots in intelligent transportation ***,A short-term traffic flow prediction method based on the spatio-temporal characteristics of complex road networks is proposed to further improve the prediction accuracy and reduce the prediction ***,a graph convolutional network(GCN) capable of processing non-Euclidean data structures is used to extract the spatial characteristics of traffic flow ***,the long and short-term memory(LSTM) neural network is used to process the time ***,the two are combined to realize the effective processing of the spatio-temporal characteristics of traffic flow *** results on the real traffic flow dataset prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method,and can provide a basis for intelligent traffic control and smart city construction.

Relaxation dynamics in the alternating XY chain following a quantum quench

We investigate the relaxation dynamics of the fermion two-point correlation function Cmn(t) = 〈ψ(t)|c†mcn|ψ(t)〉 in the XY chain with alternating nearest-neighbor hopping interaction after a quench. We find that the deviation δCmn(t) = Cmn(t) − Cmn(∞) decays with time following the power law behavior t−µ, where the exponent µ depends on whether the quench is to the commensurate phase (µ = 1) or incommensurate phase (µ = 1/2). This decay of δCmn(t) arises from the transient behavior of the double-excited quasiparticle occupations and the transitions between different excitation spectra. Furthermore, we find that the steady value Cmn(∞) only involves the average fermion occupation numbers (i.e. the average excited single particle) over the time-evolved state, which are different from the ground state expectation values. We also observe nonanalytic singularities in the steady value Cmn(∞) for the quench to the critical points of the quantum phase transitions (QPTs), suggesting its potential use as a signature of QPTs. The continuous miniaturization of 2D electronic circuits results in increased power density during device operation, leading to heat localization and placing higher demands on their performance thresholds. The risk to thermal breakdown and subsequent damage, due to the energy dissipation in the 2D semiconductor field-effect transistors (FETs) supported on the bulk substrates, represents a significant challenge in maintaining their optimal performance. Herein, this study investigates energy dissipation behavior in multilayer PdSe2 FETs for the first time. The high-field breakdown behavior is firstly studied in multilayer PdSe2 FETs on SiO2/Si substrates, where a maximum current density of ≈2.74 MA cm−2 is observed, which is comparable to that of multilayer black phosphorus FET and significantly higher—by about five times—than that of multilayer MoS2 FET. Additionally, the thermal boundary conductance (TBC) of PdSe2/SiO2 interface is measured at room temperature using Raman thermometry. The TBC is found to be ≈12–13 MW m−2 K−1, which is relatively low compared to the other known solid–solid interfaces, indicating that enhancing the performance of PdSe2 FETs can be possible by optimizing the TBC at the PdSe2/SiO2 interface. These findings provide valuable insights for design of high-quality and high-performance PdSe2 electronic and optoelectronic devices. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.
