In the present study, Mg-doped ZnO (MZO) nanofilms (NF) were grown by spray pyrolysis technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns have shown an intense peak oriented along (002) crystalline plane confirming crystalline origin of grown MZO films. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) data revealed that the average roughness decreased significantly upon Mg doping from 20.3 nm to 4.72 nm. Ambient temperature photoluminescence spectra accounted for four emission bands in the visible spectral region due to the presence of various intrinsic defect centres in the films. The non-linear absorption coefficient (βeff) were estimated by open aperture Z-scan technique and found to be in the order of 10-2(cm/W) and indicates a positive absorption nonlinearity. Additionally, it was observed that incorporation of the metal Mg ions leads to a decay of the second harmonic generation (SHG) and to a non-regular increase of the third harmonic generation (THG). The classical theory of signal processing assumes that the designed IIR filters are continuous and have infinitely accurate coefficients. However, when developing filters for real-world digital signal processing tasks, it is necessary to take into account the finite precision of the coefficients representation, especially considering the fixed-point arithmetic. In this paper, we propose a new approach, which we call the interval size approach, making it easy to evaluate the actual digital filter response for various fixed-point arithmetic parameters. We provide Illustrative examples to demonstrate the frequency response bounds evolution as an order, cutoff frequency, and signal frequency are varying. We show that the interval size can be used as a well-suited accuracy factor of a digital filter.

The article considers the issues of balanced management of innovative industrial risks as a mechanism to increase the efficiency of organizations innovative development. The place of this complex of management measures in the overall management system in the process of introducing innovations in the face of uncertainty and risks is determined. An augmented model of balanced management is proposed taking into account the innovative nature of company development and the risk factor. The role of innovative industrial risks is defined as a limitation of innovative development, and a method for effectiveness assessment of their balanced management by assessing the complex level of system survivability is developed. Thanks to this method, it is possible not only to assess the quality of the innovative industrial risks management system, but also to identify ways for its improvement and development.

The paper focuses on incorporation of Brain computer Interfacing (BCI) within an Augmented Reality (AR) platform to provide means for individuals with communication disabilities to interact with the outer world. Recently, there has been a recent surge of interest on Steady-State Visual Evoked Potentials (SSVEP). In a typical SSVEP-based BCI system, the virtual object within the AR environment flickers with a specific frequency while the signal processing module extracts the effects of the flickering frequency on the Electrophysiological (EEG) signals. Despite the popularity of SSVEPs, their utilization for practical application especially for assistive technologies is complicated and challenging due to eye fatigue and risk of induced epileptic seizure. In this regard, the key issue being targeted in this paper is addressing fatigue of flicker (or brightness modulation) by development of flicker-free steady-state motion visual evoked potential (SSMVEP). Two novel SSMVEP paradigms, i.e., Square-based and Circle-based paradigms, with low luminance contrast and oscillating expansion and contraction motions are designed, and integrated within a BCI system. Through experimental evaluations, high detection accuracy of 95.31% is achieved for the square-based SSMVEP.

We report the synthesis, structure and nonlinear optical properties of cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanocrystallines (NCs) synthesized electrochemically both with and without detergent ATLAS G3300. Relevant structural and morphological features are explored by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. The efficiency of the second harmonic generation (SHG) appears to be strongly dependent on the energy density of the incident fundamental laser radiation and NC sizes.

Lung disease is generally diagnosed in clinical trials. Several recent epidemiological discoveries have been made through the analysis of relevant biomedical data. Additional studies involving body shape, focused particularly on anthropometrics issues, are usually published in various medical areas. Most of the risk factors have been found;however, the usability of these risk factors (i.e., their predictability or explanation) is less common in practical diagnosis. Compared to previous methods, rule extraction possesses sufficient comprehensibility in medicine. For this reason, a support vector machine (SVM) is used for diagnosis of lung disease in this study. An SVM with prototype method was employed to rule extraction. Next, to enhance the ability of explanation or comprehensible for rule extraction, an active learning-based SVM approach (ALBA) is utilized in this paper. Typical rule generation method and decision trees are used as a benchmark in this paper. The results showed that this approach performed better than a decision tree. In practice, both approaches are reliable and comprehensible. The results of this work demonstrate that both approaches are useful for lung disease prediction and diagnosis. © 2018, Curran Associates Inc. All rights reserved.

There is an objective need to control and manage processes of data exchange between users in the virtual environment where there is electronic interaction. Therefore, automation of processing and recognition of messages is a logical and necessary stage in the further digitalization of the work of any enterprise. The purpose of the study is to develop an intelligent chat bot for automating information exchange in a car service. In this work a detailed analysis of online resources for automation of information exchange between participants of network interaction in the service market is carried out. The problem of text recognition is considered and the main stages of the solution are highlighted. In addition, neural networks for text recognition were considered: a convolutional neural network, a recurrent neural network as well as its modifications. As a result, the authors formulated a set of requirements for an intelligent chat bot and chose the language and development environment. The neural network was trained. The chatbot was tested on real data. An option for modernizing the chatbot is its testing in real conditions of information interaction in the digital environment of a car service.

Comparing the Efficacy of Methods for Immobilizing the Thoracic-Lumbar Spine

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the relative efficacy of immobilization systems in limiting thoracic-lumbar movements. Methods: A dynamic simulation system was used to reproduce transport-related shocks and vibration, and involuntary movements of the thoracic-lumbar region were measured using 3 immobilization configurations. Results: The vacuum mattress and the long spine board were generally more effective than the cot alone in reducing thoracic-lumbar rotation and flexion/extension. However, the vacuum mattress reduced these thoracic-lumbar movements to a greater extent than the long spine board. In addition, the vacuum mattress significantly decreased thoracic-lumbar lateral movement relative to the cot alone under all simulated transport conditions. In contrast, the long spine board allowed greater lateral movement than the cot alone in a number of the simulated transport rides. Conclusion: Under the study conditions, the vacuum mattress was more effective for limiting involuntary movements of the thoracic-lumbar region than the long spine board. Moreover, the increased lateral bend observed with the long spine board under some conditions suggests it may be inadequate for immobilizing this anatomic region as presently designed. Should emergency medical service providers choose to immobilize patients with suspected injuries of the thoracic-lumbar spine, study results support the use of the vacuum mattress. © 2018 Air Medical Journal Associates

The theory of pattern recognition is one of the directions of scientific and technical development in the field of image analysis and machine vision, etc. The authors consider the possibility of using information systems to improve the quality and accuracy of recognizing emotions on faces from images. The purpose of the research is to develop an application that uses the most effective algorithm for detecting faces and recognizing emotions. The methodology is based on the principles of deep learning, includes the use of convolutional neural networks, their software embodiments. The functional scheme is implemented in the application using the methods of the library of computer vision. Result of the research, a module was developed with the ability to determine the user’s emotions from an image from a webcam in real time. At the testing stage a data set for training was formed. A convolutional neural network was trained. The functional for generating graphs describing the emotional portrait of the user for the entire time of using the module was implemented. In the future, it is planned to improve the quality of neural network recognition, and prepare a web service for integration into mobile applications.
