We present a generalization of the MODE direction finding algorithm, using the interpolated array approach. The proposed algorithm is statistically efficient for uncorrelated, correlated and even coherent sources, and requires only a modest amount of computations. The use of array interpolation makes it possible to easily incorporate calibration data into the estimation procedure. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated by computer simulation, verifying its statistical efficiency.< >

For a given plant transfer function P ( s ) and cone size k, solutions to versions of the absolute stability problem boil down to finding a SPR multiplier Z ( s ) such that [ k ¯ - 1 + P ( s ) ] Z ( s ) is SPR. In this paper, we consider an interval plant P ( s , q , r ) and prove that first order multiplierslead to vertex results when establishing the positive realnells of [ k ¯ - 1 + P ( s , q , r ) ] Z ( s ) . Additionally, we give an example of a second order multiplier and interval plant which fails to have this vertex property. These new results are then applied to the problem of robust stability of time-varying interval systems.

In this note, an explicit solution to the multivariable discrete linear quadratic (LQ) regulation problem is obtained in the limiting singular case where the input weighting matrix tends to zero. Such a solution follows from a suitable spectral factorization of the input spectrum density matrix under the assumption that the system is stabilizable and detectable, and its transfer function matrix is a full rank. The suitable spectral factor is shown to be the product of the system minimum-phase image and its unitary interactor matrix. The unitary interactor matrix defined here is a special case of the nilpotent interactor matrix defined in [5].
