Technological change and innovation are vitally important, especially for high-tech companies. However, factors influencing their future research and development (R&D) trends are both complicated and various, leading it a quite difficult task to make technology tracing for high-tech companies. To this end, in this paper, we develop a novel data-driven solution, i.e., Deep Technology Forecasting (DTF) framework, to automatically find the most possible technology directions customized to each high-tech company. Specially, DTF consists of three components: Potential Competitor Recognition (PCR), Collaborative Technology Recognition (CTR), and Deep Technology Tracing (DTT) neural network. For one thing, PCR and CTR aim to capture competitive relations among enterprises and collaborative relations among technologies, respectively. For another, DTT is designed for modeling dynamic interactions between companies and technologies with the above relations involved. Finally, we evaluate our DTF framework on real-world patent data, and the experimental results clearly prove that DTF can precisely help to prospect future technology emphasis of companies by exploiting hybrid factors. Domain Adaption for Knowledge Tracing

With the rapid development of online education system, knowledge tracing which aims at predicting students’ knowledge state is becoming a critical and fundamental task in personalized education. Traditionally, existing methods are domain-specified. However, there are a larger number of domains (e.g., subjects, schools) in the real world and the lacking of data in some domains, how to utilize the knowledge and information in other domains to help train a knowledge tracing model for target domains is increasingly important. We refer to this problem as domain adaptation for knowledge tracing (DAKT) which contains two aspects: (1) how to achieve great knowledge tracing performance in each domain. (2) how to transfer good performed knowledge tracing model between domains. To this end, in this paper, we propose a novel adaptable framework, namely adaptable knowledge tracing (AKT) to address the DAKT problem. Specifically, for the first aspect, we incorporate the educational characteristics (e.g., slip, guess, question texts) based on the deep knowledge tracing (DKT) to obtain a good performed knowledge tracing model. For the second aspect, we propose and adopt three domain adaptation processes. First, we pre-train an auto-encoder to select useful source instances for target model training. Second, we minimize the domain-specific knowledge state distribution discrepancy under maximum mean discrepancy (MMD) measurement to achieve domain adaptation. Third, we adopt fine-tuning to deal with the problem that the output dimension of source and target domain are different to make the model suitable for target domains. Extensive experimental results on two private datasets and seven public datasets clearly prove the effectiveness of AKT for great knowledge tracing performance and its superior transferable ability. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has served as a powerful analytical tool for studying molecular structure and dynamics in chemistry and biology. However, the processing of raw data acquired from NMR spectrometers and subsequent quantitative analysis involves various specialized tools, which necessitates comprehensive knowledge in programming and NMR. Particularly, the emerging deep learning tools is hard to be widely used in NMR due to the sophisticated setup of computation. Thus, NMR processing is not an easy task for chemist and biologists. In this work, we present CloudBrain-NMR, an intelligent online cloud computing platform designed for NMR data reading, processing, reconstruction, and quantitative analysis. The platform is conveniently accessed through a web browser, eliminating the need for any program installation on the user side. CloudBrain-NMR uses parallel computing with graphics processing units and central processing units, resulting in significantly shortened computation time. Furthermore, it incorporates state-of-the-art deep learning-based algorithms offering comprehensive functionalities that allow users to complete the entire processing procedure without relying on additional software. The lower reaches of the ancient Yellow River (AYR) migrated very frequently, like a loong swinging its tail on the land of China. This paper, based on Gaofen-3 full-polarization synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data, analyzed scattering characteristics of archaeolandscapes, which provided reliable evidences for the existence of AYR between Lankao and Sui County. Then, an adaptive irregular convolution kernel U-Net (AICK-U-Net) was proposed to reconstruct the part of channel of AYR, based on the image obtained by polarization decomposition, and the precision reached 96.21%. In summary, polarization decomposition and neural network in spaceborne SAR field, provided new insights for detecting and reconstructing archaeolandscapes.

While large scale pre-trained language models such as BERT [5] have achieved great success on various natural language understanding tasks, how to efficiently and effectively incorporate them into sequence-to-sequence models and the corresponding text generation tasks remains a non-trivial problem. In this paper, we propose to address this problem by taking two different BERT models as the encoder and decoder respectively, and fine-tuning them by introducing simple and lightweight adapter modules, which are inserted between BERT layers and tuned on the task-specific dataset. In this way, we obtain a flexible and efficient model which is able to jointly leverage the information contained in the source-side and target-side BERT models, while bypassing the catastrophic forgetting problem. Each component in the framework can be considered as a plug-in unit, making the framework flexible and task agnostic. Our framework is based on a parallel sequence decoding algorithm named Mask-Predict [8] considering the bi-directional and conditional independent nature of BERT, and can be adapted to traditional autoregressive decoding easily. We conduct extensive experiments on neural machine translation tasks where the proposed method consistently outperforms autoregressive baselines while reducing the inference latency by half, and achieves 36.49/33.57 BLEU scores on IWSLT14 German-English/WMT14 German-English translation. When adapted to autoregressive decoding, the proposed method achieves 30.60/43.56 BLEU scores on WMT14 English-German/English-French translation, on par with the state-of-the-art baseline models.

Deeply mining the detailed data in the process of students' examination plays an important role in studying students' learning characteristics and realizing individualized learning. Due to the association between test questions mostly given by experts, the number of choosing path length on each question in the process of answering questions can not be accurately collected. In this paper, we propose a model named MASMKP(A Model for Analyzing Students' Mastery of Knowledge Points) based on text analysis in order to combine the examination questions with the knowledge points they belong to. By analyzing the relationship between the questions and combining the number of choosing path length on each question in the process of answering the questions, we can get the students' mastery of the knowledge points. Depending on this model, the text features of test questions are extracted firstly, and the test questions are classified into knowledge points according to the classification model. Then the number of choosing path length on each question is converted to the number of choosing path length on each knowledge point. The number of choosing path length reflects the students' mastery of the knowledge point to a certain extent. Students are clustered according to their mastery of each knowledge point using k-means algorithm, then students with different characteristics are obtained and personalized teaching is realized. The experimental results show that this model can extract and classify the features of students, and the accuracy and validity of this model are verified. © 2019 IEEE.

In education systems, Finding Similar Exercises (FSE) is the key step for both exercise retrieval and duplicate detection. Recently, more and more attention has been drawn into this area and several works have been proposed, to utilize the exercise content (e.g., texts or images) or the labeled knowledge concepts. Such approaches, however, have failed to take knowledge hierarchy into account. To this end, we advance a novel knowledge-aware multimodal network, namely KnowNet, for finding similar exercises in large-scale online education systems by integrating the knowledge hierarchy into the heterogeneous exercise data and learning a relation-aware semantic representation. Specifically, we first propose a Content Representation Layer (CRL) to learn a unified semantic representation of the heterogeneous exercise content. Then, we design a Hierarchy Fusion Layer (HFL) to exploit the knowledge hierarchy. By combining the knowledge hierarchy, HFL can not only retrieve the relation-aware semantic representation but also provide an interpretable view to investigate the similarity of exercises. Finally, we adopt a Similarity Score Layer (SSL) for returning similar exercises. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and interpretability of KnowNet.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image classification is a key technique and research focus in the application of remote sensing. This paper proposes a new classification method of SAR image based on Object-based Gaussian-Markov Random Field model with Region Coefficients (OGMRF-RC), the new method use Fuzzy Probability (FP) represents the region's category probability, FP is obtained by regional posterior probability and edge information of neighborhood. Use FP to replace the unique class label of the region, which avoids the parameters estimation inaccurate of the feature field caused by the unique initial class label. And the parameter calculation method of feature field takes into account the feature information of all regions in the image. In this paper, we take the area around Baliwan in Kaifeng as study area, Sentinel-1 is used as the remote sensing data sources. FCM, K-means, classic MRF and OGMRF-RC are used as contrast methods, the experimental result demonstrates the accuracy of our method is better than these methods. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and Technology. computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) is emerging as a promising testing application in many scenarios, such as education, game and recruitment, which targets at diagnosing the knowledge mastery levels of examinees on required concepts. It shows the advantage of tailoring a personalized testing procedure for each examinee, which selects questions step by step, depending on her performance. While there are many efforts on developing CAT systems, existing solutions generally follow an inflexible model-specific fashion. That is, they need to observe a specific cognitive model which can estimate examinee's knowledge levels and design the selection strategy according to the model estimation. In this paper, we study a novel model-agnostic CAT problem, where we aim to propose a flexible framework that can adapt to different cognitive models. Meanwhile, this work also figures out CAT solution with addressing the problem of how to generate both high-quality and diverse questions simultaneously, which can give a comprehensive knowledge diagnosis for each examinee. Inspired by Active Learning, we propose a novel framework, namely Model-Agnostic Adaptive Testing (MAAT) for CAT solution, where we design three sophisticated modules including Quality Module, Diversity Module and Importance Module. Specifically, at one CAT selection step, Quality Module first quantifies the informativeness of questions and generates candidate subset with the highest quality. Then, Diversity Module selects one question at each step that maximizes the concept coverage. Additionally, we propose Importance Module to estimate the importance of concepts that optimizes the CAT selection. Under MAAT, we prove that the goal of maximizing both quality and diversity is NP-hard, but we provide efficient algorithms by exploiting the inherent submodular property. Extensive experimental results on two real-world datasets clearly demonstrate that our MAAT can support CAT with guaranteeing both quality and diversity

Point-of-Interest (POI) recommendation helps users find their interested places to visit based on the time and user location. Unlike traditional recommendation tasks, POI recommendation is personalized, spatial-aware, and temporally dependent. Although many previous works have tried modeling spatial and temporal characteristics, most of them suffer from the following two limitations: For the spatial aspect, existing works only consider the user-POI distance or POI-POI distance. However, we find that a user prefers different regions at different times, which is known as user-region periodic pattern. For the temporal aspect, most works treat user and time as two independent factors. However, different users may prefer the same POI in different time periods, which is known as user-POI periodic pattern. To address the limitation of existing works, we propose a novel Spatial-Temporal aware Graph Convolutional Neural Network (STGCN) for POI recommendation. Specifically, we first design a user record multigraph to fuse all the context information into a unified graph. Then, we propose a time-based neighborhood sampling algorithm and take advantage of the flexible propagation mechanism of GCNs to learn the representations of each node at a specific time. Furthermore, multiple scoring functions are proposed to exploit user-region periodic pattern and user-POI periodic pattern, respectively. We also develop a time smoothing strategy to alleviate the data sparsity problem. Extensive experiments are conducted on two real-world datasets, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.
