In many business sectors sending secure information over public channels has become a challenging task. Data encryption is not the most efficient method to counteract attacks by adversaries. One form of encryption is to use the same key by the sender for encryption as well as the receiver for decryption. World-wide encryption standards such as DES and AES are used in Government and public domains. However symmetric key encryptions are prone to attacks by intruders. Asymmetric key encryption has been proposed in the literature wherein the key to be used to send a message to A is made public and A uses his own private key to decrypt the message. NTRU [23] Labs have used truncated polynomials to generate public and private keys. In this paper we propose matrices as an alternative to truncated polynomials.

Virtualization technologies are becoming more and more widely used in the distributed computing area. In order to organize and manage various virtual machines in the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) environment more effectively, a virtualization management system called SOAVM is proposed and demonstrated in this paper. SOAVM addresses the limitation of virtual appliances in software quantities by employing ACS (Automated Configuration Service). ACS provides a more flexible way to conduct automated software configuration on virtual machines compared to the traditional virtual appliance pattern. The system framework is designed, which defines all functions of SOAVM as services to comply with SOA. Then the system design is described, illustrating how ACS works. Furthermore, critical implementation issues are discussed in detail, which demonstrates that SOAVM is a feasible and efficient virtualization management system.

The producers and customers have difficulties in organizing, finding, retrieving and accessing dasiarightpsila media info, reasons for this problem stem from a lack of interoperability and semantic metadata share between several applications for multimedia processing and understanding. Thus, it is necessary to design a set of media info understanding-oriented MultiMedia Ontology (MMO). In order to effectively solve the problem of ldquosemantic gaprdquo between perceivable media world and high-level conceptual world, a novel method of semantic-layering and semantic-abstracting step by step is adopted, viz. the abstract from primary perceptive level to high-level perceptive level by various perceptual components and the abstract from high-level perceptive level to high-level conceptual level by mathematical model such as Hierarchical Hidden Markov Model (HHMM). MMO is designed by re-engineering MPEG-7 with OWL DL rules, which includes core ontology, media ontology and domain ontology, the reason for such design is to be convenient to adopt existing ontology(such as MPEG-7 and DOLCE) and easy to be extended and reused. A use case of semantic-abstracting and semantic-annotating is showed to testify the effect of MMO.

A new model of smart monitoring system for empty nest elder is designed and implemented by effectively fusing three kinds of intelligence - sense intelligence, emotion intelligence and communication intelligence. It is a multi-agent system based on middleware, adopts the mechanism that various high-level perceptual components may be plugged into the middleware architecture, and implements unsupervised and continuous smart monitor for empty nest elder in terms of non obtrusive way in home environment. Being convenient for knowledge representation and reasoning during the course of context-aware, the approach of semantic-layering and semantic-abstracting step by step is adopted to design a set of new multimedia ontologies for bridging perceivable media world and high-level conceptual world. Hierarchical hidden Markov model is used to identify abnormal behaviors of occupants. At last, an experiment for detecting behaviors abnormality of occupant is finished to testify the feasibility of above model and key technologies.

As we are moving along with emerging technologies the storage of data will no longer be in our conventional single dimensional raw data. The relational data can be further identified with spatial and non-spatial relationship. This is to examine whether clustering approach has any role to play in spatial data mining. This paper explains spatial clustering under statistical method of analysis for discovering the knowledge which is encapsulated in the spatial database. This study emphasis the spatial clustering approach accomplished through algorithms such as PAM and CLARA and let us to come across the limitations of PAM method. To the end, This work ushers that spatial data mining is a promising field, with fruitful research results and carries many challenging issues.

Identification and verification of a video clip and an imbedding watermark via its hash and digital signature find application in broadcast monitoring. For the problem of double identification and verification, a secure video watermarking method for broadcast monitoring is proposed. Firstly, a robust hash was computed from video clips based on the 3-D Discrete Wavelet Transform (3D-DWT) and median quantization, and then video signature, being secret key based, was gained. Secondly, the short hash and the video signature using the proposed algorithm are combined to create the embedding watermark. And they are used in the identification and verification of video clips and the embedding watermark respectively. Finally, the security of proposed algorithm is analysed. Some experimental results, which prove the effectiveness of the algorithms, are presented.

We previously proposed a two-stage binaural speech enhancement with Wiener Filter (TS-BASE/WF) approach for hearing aids in adverse environments [6]. In TS-BASE/WF, the interfering signal is estimated by cancelling the target signal through an adaptive filter in the first stage and a time- variant Wiener filter is applied to enhance the target signal in the second stage. In this paper, we introduce an interference compensation approach, which is applied to the adaptive-filter output, to further improve the estimation accuracy of the interfering signal. The performance of TS-BASE with different speech enhancers is then investigated in different conditions. Experimental results show that the improved TS-BASE algorithms with interference compensation outperform the original TS-BASE algorithms, and that TS-BASE/WF gives the higher speech enhancement performance over the improved TS-BASE algorithms with other speech enhancers.

Example-based machine translation (EBMT) is an important branch of machine translation. Sentence similarity measure is certainly one of the most significant problems addressed in EBMT. For EBMT from Chinese to English, the performance of similarity measure of Chinese sentences greatly affects the final translation result of an input Chinese sentence. In this paper, we present an approach to Chinese sentence similarity measure (CSSM) together with word sequence and sentence structure information. The new method in our experiments yields a good efficiency and effectiveness without conducting a complex and deep syntactic analysis of Chinese sentences, which can be applied to an EBMT system for CSSM for a better performance in Chinese-to-English translation.

An automatic image registration algorithm based on the complementary SIFT and Harris-Affine (H-A) local invariant features was proposed for large misalignment multi-sensor images. In this algorithm, SIFT features were complemented with H-A features and the ratio of the first and second nearest neighbor distance were used to setup the initial correspondences. The affine invariant of Mahalannobis distance was used to remove the mismatched feature points. With this correspondence of the points, the affine matrix between two different images could be determined. All points in the sensed image were mapped to the reference using the estimated transformation matrix and the corresponding gray level was assigned by re-sampling the image in the sensed image. Experiments demonstrated the feasibility of this method.

In this paper, we present a novel peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction algorithm for OFDM systems employing a symbol balancing approach with several non-data bearing (NDB) subcarriers. The proposed algorithm assigns the NDB subcarriers values that, when combined with interleaving, reduces the long correlation patterns of the input frame that can potentially lead to high PAPR. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm can use either a fixed number of NDB subcarriers or a variable number of NDB subcarriers according to the amount of inter-subcarrier correlation, thus attempting to increase the data throughput of the system. Simulation results for a 256-subcarrier OFDM system employing QPSK symbols and 16 interleavers can achieve a PAPR reduction of 4 dB for a complementary cumulative distribution of 0.01%.
