We present the 30-min cadence Kepler/K2 light curve of the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) SN 2018agk, covering approximately one week before explosion, the full rise phase and the decline until 40 days after peak. We additionally present ground-based observations in multiple bands within the same time range, including the 1-day cadence DECam observations within the first ~5 days after the first light. The Kepler early light curve is fully consistent with a single power-law rise, without evidence of any bump feature. We compare SN 2018agk with a sample of other SNe Ia without early excess flux from the literature. We find that SNe Ia without excess flux have slowly-evolving early colors in a narrow range (g - i ≈ -0.20±0.20 mag) within the first ~ 10 days. On the other hand, among SNe Ia detected with excess, SN 2017cbv and SN 2018oh tend to be bluer, while iPTF16abc's evolution is similar to normal SNe Ia without excess in g - i. We further compare the Kepler light curve of SN 2018agk with companion-interaction models, and rule out the existence of a typical non-degenerate companion undergoing Roche-lobe overflow at viewing angles smaller than 45°. © 2021, CC BY.

This paper extends the performance assessment of an underwater glider path planning approach recently proposed for constrained sub-mesoscale eddy border sampling conditions, for situations benefiting from extended mission planning time. The aim of addressing such situations is to improve the glider vehicle capabilities through improving its off-board controller, which computes an improved trajectory for the eddy sampling task, compared to the usual rather shorter planning time. The improvement in robustness for the controller for several scenarios in this global trajectory optimization is also analyzed, together with comparison to shorter planning time for this autonomous vehicle and environmental data sampling type. As shown through results, the approach is able to provide several useful and non-intuitive solutions, improving in helpful ways. The trajectories for sub-mesoscale eddy sampling are thereby improved, in a way that might be useful for possible machine controller pondering or auto-piloting at open sea, when piloting user feedback is not available or even amidst the consecutive interruptions of user-intensive planning instructions. Managing complexity under limited resources and designing vessel navigation schedule plan under uncertain conditions within such extended mission planning time, therefore improves the mission quality as well. By optimizing trajectories with differential evolution and then visualizing them, we provide human-machine interaction for rapid knowledge discovery, data mining, and presentation of possibly large space satellite captured data sets (Big Data) analysis and exploitation. © 2016 IEEE.

Including millimeter-wave (mm-wave) data in multi-wavelength studies of the variability of active galactic nuclei (AGN) can provide insights into AGN physics that are not easily accessible at other wavelengths. We demonstrate in this work the potential of cosmic microwave background (CMB) telescopes to provide long-term, high-cadence mm-wave AGN monitoring over large fractions of sky. We report on a pilot study using data from the SPTpol instrument on the South Pole Telescope (SPT), which was designed to observe the CMB at arcminute and larger angular scales. Between 2013 and 2016, SPTpol was used primarily to observe a single 500 deg2field, covering the entire field several times per day with detectors sensitive to radiation in bands centered at 95 and 150 GHz. We use SPT 150 GHz observations to create AGN light curves, and we compare these mm-wave light curves to those at other wavelengths, in particular γ-ray and optical. In this Letter, we focus on a single source, PKS 2326-502, which has extensive, day-timescale monitoring data in gamma-ray, optical, and now mm-wave between 2013 and 2016. We find PKS 2326-502 to be in a flaring state in the first two years of this monitoring, and we present a search for evidence of correlated variability between mm-wave, optical R band, and γ-ray observations. This pilot study is paving the way for AGN monitoring with current and upcoming CMB experiments such as SPT-3G, Simons Observatory, and CMB-S4, including multi-wavelength studies with facilities such as VRO-LSST. © 2023, CC BY.

The emergence of Academic Social Networks (ASNs) has provided opportunities for researchers to upload their publication work, discuss issues with an author, ask questions and build a connection between the researcher communities. With this large information available online, there is need of analyzing the information propagation in ASNs. In this paper, we analyzed the topic propagation in ASNs. We have used the popular academic search engine, Google Scholar for data collection and statistical software `R' for data analysis. We used a scrapper collect the data set from Google Scholar and around 500 papers were examined to find the propagation of the current trend of topics in the specific domain. The result helps the novice researchers to choose the current trending topics and work on the issues in this topic.

Overlapping community detection has drawn much attention recently since it allows nodes in a network to have multiple community memberships. A standard framework to deal with overlapping community detection is Matrix Factorization (MF). Although all existing MF-based approaches use links as input to identify communities, the relationship between links and communities is still under-investigated. Most of the approaches only view links as consequences of communities (community-to-link) but fail to explore how nodes' community memberships can be represented by their linked neighbors (link-to-community). In this paper, we propose a Homophily-based Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (HNMF) to model both-sided relationships between links and communities. From the community-to-link perspective, we apply a preference-based pairwise function by assuming that nodes with common communities have a higher probability to build links than those without common communities. From the link-to-community perspective, we propose a new community representation learning with network embedding by assuming that linked nodes have similar community representations. We conduct experiments on several real-world networks and the results show that our HNMF model is able to find communities with better quality compared with state-of-the-art baselines.

This paper studies learning from adaptive neural control of manipulator using an input-to-state stability(ISS) modular *** order to remove the limitation of the derivative of the affine term in robot manipulator,an ISS modular method is introduced into this ***,the proposed adaptive neural control law,based on the ISS modular method and backstepping technology,guarantees the boundedness of all signals in closed-loop system and exponential convergence of tracking ***,by using a state transformation strategy and coupling with the established partial persistent excitation(PE) condition,neural network(NN) weight values converge exponentially to their optimal *** convergent weights which are stored as the constant experienced knowledge make the learning control for a similar task *** results are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

This paper focuses on adaptive neural control of robot manipulator with unknown system dynamics under the limitation of prescribed performance. A performance function is introduced to express the prescribed constraints of tracking ***, a performance transformation method is proposed to solve the problem of the prescribed performance. The unknown dynamics of robot are approximated by radial basis function(RBF) neural networks(NN). An adaptive neural control law is proposed based on Lyapunov stability. The proposed control method guarantees that all the signals in closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded(UUB), simultaneously the tracking errors converge to small preassigned regions of zero with satisfying prescribed performance. Simulation studies are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

Extensive research has been carried out for preserving the privacy of identifiers in dataset during Data Mining. Various dimensions based on Cryptographic principles, Perturbation and Secure Sum Computation have been studied to achieve privacy. Effective techniques to maximize privacy and minimize information loss have always been intriguing. The work in this paper presents a comparison based on experimental study of three fundamental perturbation techniques viz. - Additive, Multiplicative and Geometric Data Perturbation [GDP] for Privacy Preserving Data Mining [PPDM]. These techniques form the basis of many advanced Perturbation techniques as described later. The literature doesn't embark a clear cut comparison amongst the three techniques based on suitable metrics. We have identified various statistical metrics that must be considered for evaluating Perturbation techniques. The facet of research is independent in this context, and this paper will try to confer the applicability of perturbation techniques by descriptive statistics through experiments under one roof. A comparison amongst the perturbation based techniques is conferred at the end to exemplify the importance of this research.

The breakthrough progress of wireless charging technology provides a significant opportunity to solve the energy constrained problem in wireless sensor networks. However, most of existing mobile energy replenishment schemes either cannot well adapt to the high diversity of energy consumption or leave out of consideration about the fairness of charging response, and thus may still suffer from non-negligible performance degradation resulted from energy starvation. Particularly when there is a large number of charging requirements, the energy starvation may bring about quite a number of sensor nodes invalid due to energy depletion. In this paper, we explore the energy starvation issue while provisioning energy for wireless sensor networks and propose a Starvation Avoidance Mobile Energy Replenishment scheme (SAMER) which can avoid energy starvation through calculating and considering the maximum tolerable latency of each charging requirement. The simulation results show that SAMER scheme can effectively solve the energy starvation problem and achieve efficient mobile energy supplement for wireless sensor networks.
