Optimizing multiple ontology alignments through hybrid evolutionary algorithm based on a new elitist strategy

In this paper, we propose a hybrid evolutionary algorithm based on a new elitist strategy to address the problem of optimizing the multiple ontology alignments simultaneously. Comparing with the conventional approach, our method is able to deal with multiple pair of ontologies at a time, and through a new elitist strategy, avoid the bias improvement caused by f-measure. Experimental results show that our approach is effective. © 2016 ICIC International.

The present work deals with a fault tolerant approach to design the test structure for detecting the fault of cache in chip multiprocessors (CMPs). Fault detection is simplified using a 2-state 3-neighborhood null boundary cellular automata (CA). This has been elaborated in the earlier work of present authors. Self correcting property, however, has been found only in a 5-neighborhood CA and not in 3-neighborhood CA. This self-correcting or fault tolerant approach is taken as the guideline of the present work to design the fault tolerant test hardware for testing the cache in chip multiprocessors. Following this approach an 83% test accuracy has been achieved in the test hardware.

Although fault detection can be successfully made using 2-state 3-neighborhood null boundary cellular automata(as dealt with in our previous work), self correcting property, however, can not be achieved this way. The present work deals with 2-state 5-neighborhood CA instead, which has been found to be self correcting with a much higher efficiency. This fault tolerant approach in designing the test hardware for testing the cache module in chip multiprocessors (CMPs), has been found to achieve 100% accuracy in single stuck-at one fault. It can also challenge multiple stuck-at one fault and can give22% accuracy.

Due to the high cost pressure in the field of aviation, the further increase in efficiency is in the focus of development. Nowadays, airfoils are highly developed and optimized. Thus, new sophisticated approaches, additional configurations and physical effects at lift generation devices have to be explored in order to further reduce drag and significantly increase lift. Focal point of these considerations is the Magnus effect, in which rotating cylinders generate a lift force. This has already been investigated in the past, in particular, different kinds of surface roughnesses, special rotor geometries, ratios of circumferential speed velocity to free stream velocity, or the effect of end plates have been considered. The Scottish engineer A. Thom achieved a significant increase of the performance by adding so called Thom discs coaxially and equidistantly mounted on the cylinder. Investigations of the Thom disc rotors (Thom rotors) have shown a maximum of the lift to drag ratio ϵ for the circumferential cylinder velocity to freestream velocity α = 2. Most of the conducted experimental studies have only delivered integral force values. However, detailed insights in the structure of the flow field are still missing. Thus, in the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) study presented here, one of our objectives is to reveal the three-dimensional flow field characteristics for various rotating Thom rotor configurations in detail. The basic configuration is a rotor with two end discs, a so called Flettner rotor. This configuration is varied by mounting Thom discs on the cylinder equidistantly arranged between the end discs. In order to reduce the variety of possible different configurations it was necessary to concentrate on a subset of the most significant design parameters, such as the cylinder aspect ratio, the end-plate diameter ratio, the thickness of the discs and the number of Thom rotors itself. We present a measurement of the Hubble constant H0 using the gravitational wave (GW) event GW190814, which resulted from the coalescence of a 23 M☉ black hole with a 2.6 M☉ compact object, as a standard siren. No compelling electromagnetic counterpart with associated host galaxy has been identified for this event, thus our analysis accounts for ∼ 2,700 potential host galaxies within a statistical framework. The redshift information is obtained from the photometric redshift (photo-z) catalog from the Dark Energy Survey. The luminosity distance is provided by the gravitational wave sky map published by the LIGO/Virgo Collaboration. Since this GW event has the second–smallest sky localization area after GW170817, GW190814 is likely to provide the best constraint on cosmology from a single standard siren without identifying an electromagnetic counterpart. Our analysis uses photo-z probability distribution functions and corrects for photo-z biases. We also reanalyze the binary–black hole GW170814 within this updated framework. We explore how our findings impact the H0 constraints from GW170817, the only GW merger associated with a unique host galaxy, and therefore the most powerful standard siren to date. From a combination of GW190814, GW170814 and GW170817, our analysis yields H0 = 69.0+−147.5 km s−1 Mpc−1 (68% Highest Density Interval, HDI) for a prior in H0 uniform between [20,140] km s−1 Mpc−1. The addition of GW190814 and GW170814 to GW170817 improves the 68% HDI from GW170817 alone by ∼ 12%, showing how well–localized mergers without counterparts can provide a marginal contribution to standard siren measurements, provided that a complete galaxy catalog is available at the location of the event. In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm based procedure to combine different clustering solutions obtained for the same data set to construct a relatively good solution. Clustering ensemble technique, alternatively also known as clustering aggregation or consensus clustering, considers the different individual solutions obtained and combines them into a single solution of better quality using a consensus function. In the genetic algorithm based consensus function proposed here, each cluster is represented using a single representative. A chromosome represents a set of cluster representatives for a particular clustering result. Single point crossover is made between the two cluster representatives of highest similarity value so that changes in the clusters of the selected pair of chromosomes are small i.e. the clustering solutions gradually converge to the optimal one. Mutation is performed in such a way that the properties of cluster representatives remain invariant. A new fitness measure is proposed to evaluate the fitness of the cluster representatives as well as of the individual chromosomes. Experiments are made on real life state-of the -art data sets and results are reported.

Automated author ranking mechanism in a given research domain has key applications like automatic faculty selection in an institution, selection of outstanding researcher in a particular research domain, selection of domain experts for reviewing articles or project proposals, etc. The advantage of automated mechanism is that it is transparent and free from personal intervention. On the other hand, temporal analysis of author ranking has importance in the issues like selection of candidates for project grants, selection for life-time achievement awards, etc. This being an era of shared authorship in scientific articles, finding exact contribution of an author in a field is always a challenge. In our present work, we propose a modified pagerank-based author ranking algorithm that may identify the exact contribution of a researcher in terms coauthorship scores and paper citation scores in the research field he/she is working, and validate them using H-index, an already well accepted author ranking strategy, with the help of DBLP data set. In addition, we perform a comparative analysis of the change in author ranking for different part of author spectrum over time.

Identification of Public Bus Stops and characterising their waiting time is of significance in the domain of Intelligent Transportation System and public interest. Surveys suggest that the existing systems and algorithms cannot be merely replicated in the context of developing regions, because of the kind of heterogeneity and chaotic situation prevalent in their transport system, in contrast to the orderly and much regulated system of the developed world. Moreover a significant fraction of population residing here is not so tech-savvy, hence crowd-sourced based strategies renders useless. Either novel algorithms/techniques are required or the existing ones have to undergo suitable adaptation and innovation to suit the contrasting characteristics of developing regions. Using customized hardware we present the stoppage pattern analysis of public bus GPS traces of more than 2000 km for a 20 km route of Durgapur, a suburban city (West Bengal, India). We have revealed that 53.03 % of the travel time for the selected route has higher predictability with Standard deviation of 30.73%.

In the previous work [7], it was realized that the performance of bic-tcp was good under satellite network. In this work, the perforce bic-tcp is improved and art adaptive window increment based bic-tcp algorithm (bic_AWI) for improved data transfer in satellite network is proposed. Further, the handovers in a satellite tcp connection may cause a break in communication for a fraction of a second and will affect a voice communication. Even though, such occasional breaks will not affect the non real-time data traffic considerably, in our version of the improved bic-tcp, we considered the satellite terminal handoffs also. We, implemented the idea on ns2's implementation of bic tcp. Proposed modifications has been made on bic-tcp, and the performance of the improved protocol “bic_AWI” has been compared with normal bic-tcp under Iridium satellite constellation. The performance of the algorithms has been measured using suitable metrics and the proposed bic_AWI performed better than normal bic-tcp.

For moving vehicle detection, this paper presents an algorithm on the basis of an improved interframe differential algorithm and an improved Gaussian model. Firstly, according to a statistical histogram, an interesting region is extracted. Through a mean algorithm, an initial background model is established. The interesting region is divided into several blocks by a self-adaptive method. Secondly, according to an improved interframe difference algorithm, the interesting region is separated roughly. On the basis of these steps, we utilize an improved Gaussian model to separate the rough results precisely. At last, the results are processed by double-threshold background subtracting. Experimental results show this algorithm can detect moving vehicles rapidly and accurately.
