Research on Citrus Leaf Disease Recognition Using Class-Agnostic Contrastive Learning and Supervised Organizational Mapping

Early detection of plant diseases is crucial for enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring crop protection. While computer vision offers scalable alternatives to manual inspection, existing methods face two understudied challenges: (1) performance degradation in cluttered real-world conditions, and (2) ineffective feature separation for randomly distributed lesions with diverse symptoms. Notably, current research predominantly relies on controlled-environment datasets, lacking publicly accessible benchmarks with authentic field complexities. To address these, we present the first large-scale citrus leaf disease dataset (5,763 images, 6 categories) capturing complex field conditions including varying illumination, occlusion, multi-scale lesions, and deceptive backgrounds. Our key methodological innovations include a three-stage weakly supervised framework that systematically resolves background interference and feature redundancy: (i) Class-agnostic contrastive localization enabling precise lesion mapping without region annotations, (ii) Stable feature initialization through region-guided classification training, (iii) Sparse orthogonal mapping with experimentally-determined nodes introducing orthogonality constraints to enhance feature separation. Through feature alignment and feature fusion, an accuracy of 97.1% is achieved (+2.4% vs ResNet-18). Evaluations on citrus leaf and public datasets demonstrate superior accuracy and interpretable lesion localization, advancing plant disease diagnosis. © 2013 IEEE.

In a world where microblogging has become an integral part of modern life., the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 swiftly infiltrated public opinion on various social networking platforms. With individuals adhering to social distancing measures and self-isolation protocols to combat the coronavirus, expressing their fears and concerns on social media became their primary outlet. In order to obtain a thorough comprehension of the pandemic's effects on individuals' lives and the environments in which they live, we must recognize the critical function of social media as a repository of emotions. This paper delves into the realm of sentiment analysis, focusing on the opinions disseminated through Twitter. Our primary dataset comprises these tweets, which we meticulously processed and converted into tokens for analysis. We performed fine-tuning and added an additional classifier layer to BERT, a pre-trained model, in order to classify these feelings into three categories: positive, negative, and neutral. Subsequently, we scrutinized BERT's performance in carrying out this task. Impressively, the BERT model demonstrated an outstanding accuracy rate of 94 percent on our dataset, supplemented by commendable scores in various evaluation metrics. © 2024 IEEE.

The ethical landscape in relation to AI created in Midjourney is complex terrain incorporating both obstacles as well as opportunities. The transformative role of technology in design as evident demonstrated by the Midjourney - an AI Art Generator, a panoramic artwork. AI-based generated materials are an efficient way of creating individual pieces and enhancing national values thus students' perception of the traditional items. Nevertheless, this brings a lot of challenges in picture synthesis, thus underscoring the need for biases identification in already trained models. From architectural conceptualization to UI, AI could play a vital role in design with the applications of this platform pointing at such a future. However, it encounters challenges of engaging users and earning their confidence and thus requires the joint initiative on the part of designers and data scientists. The paper stresses on the important role of ethics, laws, and validated results in dealing with the potential benefits and issues associated with the growing use of AI throughout different fields. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, individuals and organizations are increasingly targeted by phishing attacks, so an accurate phishing detection system is required. Therefore, many phishing detection techniques have been proposed as well as phishing datasets have been collected. In this paper, three datasets have been used to train and test machine learning classifiers. The datasets have been archived by Phish-Tank and UCI Machine Learning Repository. Furthermore, Information Gain algorithm have been used for features reduction and selection purpose. In addition, six machine learning classifiers have been evaluated, namely NaiveBayes, ANN, DecisionStump, KNN, J48 and RandomForest. However, the classifiers have been trained and tested over the three datasets in two stages. The first stage is using all features included in each dataset while the second stage using selected features by IG algorithm. At the first stage RandomForest classifier has shown the best performance over Dataset-1 and Dataset-2, while J48 has shown the best performance over Dataset-3. On the other hand, after features selection, the RandomForest classifier was the superior among the other five classifiers over Dataset-1 and Dataset-2 with accuracy of 98% and 93.66% respectively. While ANN classifier has shown the best performance with accuracy of 88.92% over Dataset-3. The process of identifying and categorizing lung cancer in its early stages is difficult, yet doing so will improve patient survival rates. There is a wealth of research that segments and categorizes lung nodules using convolution neural networks (CNN). Numerous factors, including batch size, epochs, learning rate, optimizers, activation function, and weight initialization, affect the model's performance. To categorize CT scan images as benign, malignant, or normal, a deep CNN model is developed. Optimizers are crucial to the training process of the model because they adjust the weight and learning rate of the network in each epoch, which lowers loss and raises classifier accuracy. Using ReLU and selu as activation functions, this work offers a thorough analysis of the performance for a number of optimizers, including Nesterov Adaptive Momentum (Nadam), Adaptive Delta (Adadelta), Adaptive Max Pooling (Adamax), Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), Adaptive gradient (Adagrad), Adaptive Momentum (Adam), Adaptive Gradient Descent (Adagrad), and Root Mean Square Propagation (RMSProp)[1][1][1][1][1][1]. The best training accuracy for the ReLu activation function is 92.67%, with a validation accuracy of 97.92, and for the Selu activation function, it is 95.42%, with a validation accuracy of 96.88, according to the Adam optimizer. The study aims to assess various optimization techniques in deep CNNs for lung cancer classification using CT scan images. It analyzes different optimizers to understand their impact on model convergence, accuracy, and generalization. This insight is crucial for selecting the most effective optimization methods in lung cancer diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.

The enhancement of the transportation database through updated road networks is a critical aspect with a wide range of applications. Traditional methods rely on onsite measurements or human interpretation of remote sensing images for mapping purposes. However, these methods have significant drawbacks, including high expenses, lengthy processing times, and a substantial workforce requirement. To overcome this challenge, we propose a method leveraging the U-Net architecture for road extraction from multispectral satellite images. The satellite imagery used is sampled from the DigitalGlobe Images dataset, covering images captured over Thailand, Indonesia, and India, with a ground resolution of 50 cm/pixel. The U-Net model is trained on both original and augmented data, employing convolutional layers, max-pooling, and up-sampling to extract and reconstruct road masks. Performance evaluation is conducted using custom validation sets, measuring metrics such as IOU and loss. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system, achieving high accuracy and validation scores. The extracted road networks contribute to enhancing transportation databases, offering valuable insights for urban planning and management. © 2024 IEEE.

This research explores the potential of integrating rack and pinion mechanisms with electromagnetic induction to generate electricity for street light control systems. By converting mechanical energy into electrical energy, this approach offers a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution. The proposed system utilizes Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) and a Raspberry Pi microcontroller to dynamically control street lights based on ambient light conditions. This intelligent control strategy optimizes energy consumption and reduces operational costs. This research study analyzes the theoretical foundations, design considerations, and implementation methodologies of the proposed system. Experimental validation demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the approach. By promoting the use of renewable energy sources and reducing reliance on conventional power grids, this innovative solution contributes to the development of sustainable and resilient urban infrastructure. © 2024 IEEE.

Thinking space came into being with the emergence of human civilization. With the emergence and development of cyberspace, the interaction between those two spaces began to take place. In the collision of thinking and technology, new changes have taken place in both thinking space and cyberspace. To this end, this paper divides the current integration and development of thinking space and cyberspace into three stages, namely Internet of brain(IoB), Internet of thought(IoTh), and Internet of thinking(IoTk). At each stage, the contents and technologies to achieve convergence and connection of spaces are discussed. Besides, the Internet of creation(IoC) is proposed to represent the future development of thinking space and cyberspace. Finally, a series of open issues are raised, and they will become thorny factors in the development of the Io C stage.

Digital pathology employing Whole Slide Images (WSIs) plays a pivotal role in cancer detection. Nevertheless, the manual examination of WSIs for the identification of various tissue regions presents formidable challenges due to its labor-intensive nature and subjective interpretation. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based semantic segmentation algorithms have emerged as valuable tools for assisting in this task by automating ROI delineation. The incorporation of attention modules and carefully designed loss functions has shown promise in further augmenting the performance of these algorithms. However, there exists a notable gap in research regarding the utilization of attention modules specifically for tissue segmentation, thereby constraining our comprehension and application of these modules in this context. This study introduces ETiSeg-Net (Edge-aware self attention to enhance Tissue Segmentation), a CNN-based semantic segmentation model that uses a novel edge-based attention module to achieve effective delineation of class boundaries. In addition, an innovative iterative training strategy is devised to efficiently optimize the model parameters. The study also conducts a comprehensive investigation into the impact of attention modules and loss functions on the efficacy of semantic segmentation models. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations of these semantic segmentation models are conducted using publicly available datasets. The findings underscore the potential of attention modules in enhancing the accuracy and effectiveness of tissue semantic segmentation. © The Author(s) 2024.

Suicide risk assessment using word-level model with dictionary-based risky posts selection

Suicide is a serious issue around the world and is a leading cause of death in US. In the past 20 years, the suicide rate has seen a significant increase of 35%. With the rapid development of information technology, more and more people begin to use social media to share their inner feelings. It enables social media data to be widely used for research on suicide risk assessment. However, not all social media posts are suicide related. Previous research addressed this problem with post-level attention mechanism. However, post-level attention mechanism may not find relevant suicide posts. This problem becomes more serious in the feature-based post embeddings since each post is converted into a single vector to serve as the input of the model, resulting in the loss of word-level information during training. In this paper, we addressed this problem by introducing a novel word-level model including a post-selectin layer as a solution. Firstly, we utilize a suicide keyword dictionary to identify risky posts that may be missed by the post-level attention mechanism. We then convert the words in the risky posts into word embeddings and use self-attention to generate the post embeddings for the risky posts. Finally, we pass the post embeddings to a multilayer perceptron to classify the suicide risk. We also demonstrate that the FScore used in previous studies can be reduced to a function of accuracy, which does not reflect the model performance in predicting imbalanced datasets. Therefore, we additionally adopt macro F1 score as the evaluation function. Experiment results show that our model not only outperforms previous studies in FScore performance, but also achieves macro F1 Score a nearly 4% improvement compared to previous studies. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023.
