The hydrogen passivation is adopted to enhance the performance of poly-Si crystallized by YAG laser annealing(LA polySi).The effects of passivation time,passivation power and passivation temperature on the hall mobility of the LA poly-Si are investigated and the mechanism of the hydrogen passivation is preliminarily *** is found that the effect of the hydrogen passivation on the qulity of YAG laser annealed poly-Si is also correlated with the deposition method and the defect type in it.

Clustering is a common step in the analysis of microarray data. Microarrays enable simultaneous high-throughput measurement of the expression level of genes. These data can be used to explore relationships between genes and can guide development of drugs and further research. A typical first step in the analysis of these data is to use an agglomerative hierarchical clustering algorithm on the correlation between all gene pairs. While this simple approach has been successful it fails to identify many genetic interactions that may be important for drug design and other important applications. We present an approach to the clustering of expression data that utilizes known gene-gene interaction data to improve results for already commonly used clustering techniques. The approach creates an ensemble similarity measure that can be used as input to common clustering techniques and provides results with increased biological significance while not altering the clustering approach at all.

The World-Wide-Web (WWW) is growing exponentially and has become increasingly difficult to retrieve relevant information on the web. The rapid growth of the WWW poses unprecedented scaling challenges for general purpose crawlers and search engines. In this paper we describe a new hypertext resource discovery system called topic specific crawler. The goal of this crawler is to selectively seek out pages that are relevant to a predefined set of topics, rather than collecting and indexing all accessible web documents to be able to answer all possible ad-hoc queries. A topic specific crawler analyses its crawl boundary to find the links that are likely to be most relevant for the crawl. This leads to significant savings in hardware and network resources, and helps keep the crawl more up-to-date.

This paper presents the study on the cost analysis for the Video-on-Demand (VoD) system exploiting the advantages of the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) architecture. Our objective is to tackle the problems in analyzing cost and to come up with efficient cost analysis model (CCAM) thereby enhancing the revenue to the system. We adopt a partially decentralized P2P architecture with a cluster based approach to find the probability of the requests for the videos in that cluster and to place the videos closer to the customers. The results of the simulation experiment demonstrates that most of the video requests are delivered to the customers almost immediately with a faster response-time. The results also indicate that our approach accomplishes maximum revenue with less rejection ratio and a moderate peer-load when compared to the conventional approach which uses random arrival pattern contributing a substantial revenue to the VoD system.

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3, LN) has found extensive applications because of its unique optical properties, such as acousto-optic, electro-optic, piezoelectric, ferroelectric and nonlinear optic effects. Conventionally, a waveguide in a LN crystal is fabricated using metal diffusion, ion exchange, or proton exchange. Waveguides in LN are used for high-speed modulation or for nonlinear devices such as parametric oscillators and amplifiers. Thin LN films can also be separated from bulk and transferred to other substrates such as silicon and gallium arsenide by crystal ion slicing. The refractive indices and the electro-optical coefficient of the fabricated thin films have already been investigated. Suspended waveguides have been widely applied to silicon-on-insulator structures because they are easily fabricated with processing techniques similar to those of integrated circuit design. However, it is difficult to fabricate such structures in LN. One main challenge is the difficulty of etching LN. Here, we show a method to fabricate suspended slab waveguides and photonic crystals (PCs) in LN by combining ion implantation, focused ion beam milling and selective wet etching techniques. The method does not involve wafer bonding or crystal ion slicing and is monolithic. Lattice damage can be introduced to a buried thin layer of a certain depth beneath sample surface by ion implantation, resulting in a considerable wet etching selectivity to bulk material. Profiles of PCs can be improved dramatically by truncating the cone-shaped bottoms. Our method can effectively be applied to bulk LN wafers, which are typically of much higher quality than epitaxial LN.

Recommender systems utilize the times of yore experiences and preferences of the target customers as a basis to offer personalized recommendations for them as well as resolve the information overloading hitch. Personalized recommendation methods are primarily classified into content-based recommendation approach and collaborative filtering recommendation approach. Both recommendation approaches have their own advantages, drawbacks and complementarities. Because conventional recommendation techniques don't consider the contextual information, the real factor why a customer likes a specific product is unable to be understood. Therefore, in reality, it often causes a decrease in the accuracy of the recommendation results and also persuades the recommendation quality. In this paper, we propose the integrated contextual information as the foundation concept of multidimensional recommendation model and use the Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) ability of data warehousing to solve the contradicting tribulations among hierarchy ratings. This work hopes that by establishing additional user profiles and multidimensional analysis to find the key factors affecting user perceptions.

With the proliferation of internet-based social networks into our lives, new mechanisms to control the release and use of personal data are required. As a step toward this goal, we develop a recommendation system which protects the privacy of user answers while allowing them to learn an aggregate weighted average of ratings. Due to the use of social network connections, the querier obtains a more relevant and trustworthy result than what generic anonymous recommendation systems can provide, while at the same time preserving user privacy. We also give experimental performance results for our solution and several recently developed secure computation techniques, which is of independent interest.

Medical diagnosis is the major challenge faced by the medical experts. Highly specialized tools are necessary to assist the experts in diagnosing the diseases. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus is a condition in pregnant women which increases the blood sugar levels. It complicates the pregnancy by affecting the placental growth. The ultrasound screening of placenta in the initial stages of gestation helps to identify the complication induced by GDM on the placental development which accounts for the fetal growth. This work focus on the classification of ultrasound placenta images into normal and abnormal images based on statistical measurements. The ultrasound images are usually low in resolution which may lead to loss of characteristic features of the ultrasound images. The placenta images obtained in an ultrasound examination is stereo mapped to reconstruct the placenta structure from the ultrasound images. The dimensionality reduction is done on stereo mapped placenta images using wavelet decomposition. The ultrasound placenta image is segmented using watershed approach to obtain the statistical measurements of the stereo mapped placenta images. Using the statistical measurements, the ultrasound placenta images are then classified as normal and abnormal using Back Propagation neural networks.

The World Wide Web is nearing omnipresence. Due to the increasing amount of data Available online, the World Wide Web has becoming one of the most valuable resources for information retrievals and knowledge discoveries. Web mining technologies are the right solutions for knowledge discovery on the Web. The knowledge extracted from the Web can be used to raise the performances for Web information retrievals, question answering, and Web based data warehousing. In this paper, we provide an introduction of Web mining as well as a review of the Web mining categories. Then we focus on one of these categories: the Web structure mining. Within this category, we introduce link mining and review two popular methods applied in Web structure mining: HITS and Page Rank.

Face detection is the first step in automated face recognition and the important cue to detect the human face is skin color. This proposed paper consists of two steps, the first step is to detect the more skinned region by the fusion of RGB, YCbCr skin color region and CIEL~(*)a~(*)b skin labeled image using HillClimbing segmentation with K-Means clustering. This step helps to simplify and improves the detection of human faces, since nonskin regions are eliminated. The second step is to locate the faces in a fused image by Region property measures. The proposed method has been tested on various real images and its performance is found to be quite satisfactory.
