Digital rights management (DRM) system is the effective schemes for digital transactions. A novel authentication scheme of DRM system for remote users based on multimodal biometrics (such as iris and face feature) verification and watermarking and smart cards is described in this paper, which include two authentication phases, i.e. the client server authentication and the server authentication. For the client server authentication, we integrate watermarking technique and multimodal biometric system which is based on highly secure iris recognition and face recognition to provide more secure and reliable personal recognition. In watermarking algorithm, face image is chosen to be the host image, iris feature is selected to use as watermark hidden in the host face image. For the server authentication, the proposed scheme is an extended and generalized form of ElGamal signature scheme whose security is based on discrete logarithm problem, which is not yet forged. So the proposed scheme can achieve the rights management of digital content exactly through the illegal user access control. Meanwhile, the bimodal biometrics (iris and face) recognition provides the improvement in the accuracy performance of the system.

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that is characterized by recurrent unprovoked seizures. These seizures are due to abnormal, excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. For a neural network, such as brain, nonlinearity is necessary to descript the complexity of dynamic system. In this study, we compared some nonlinear dynamic indictions, such as Hurst exponent, sample entropy, and detrended fluctuation in time series of epilepsy electroencephalogram regarding different physiological and pathological brain states. We found that The Hurst exponent did not differ between healthy volunteers and intracranial patients (>0.05). The sample entropy value did not differ between healthy volunteers and seizure active patients (p>0.05). In other cases we found statistical significant differences between investigated data sets. We concluded that using nonlinear dynamic indications we could discriminate the electroencephalogram regarding different physiological and pathological brain states of epilepsy patients.

With the rapid development of the communication technology, the Internet plays a more and more important role in many applications of healthcare. In healthcare field, mental disorder treatment is an important topic, with cognitive behavioral therapy and biofeedback therapy as two emerging and noteworthy methods. A number of researches on the integrations of the Internet and mental healthcare have been proposed recently. Thus, this research aims at the development of an online treatment system for panic patients by combining the cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback therapy, and web technologies. The system provides a more convenient communication between patients and medical personnel. The essential treatments and some related information provided by the medical personnel can be downloaded or used online by the patients via a web-based interface. On the other hand, important information such as physiological data can also be uploaded to the server databases automatically. Therefore, considerable time on the treatments can be saved for both patients and therapists, and the medical costs can be highly reduced. The experimental results show that the curative effects of the mental disorder patients are highly depend on the physiological status. The results of this research are expected to provide useful insights for the field of mental disorder treatment. © 2009 by Knowledge Systems Institute Graduate School.

In order to make surfing the internet faster, and to save redundant processing load with each request for the same web page, many caching techniques have been developed to reduce latency of retrieving data on World Wide Web. In this paper we will give a quick overview of existing web caching techniques used for dynamic web pages then we will introduce a design and implementation model that take advantage of 'URL Rewriting' feature in some popular web servers, e.g. Apache, to provide an effective approach of caching dynamic web pages.

User authentication is one of the fundamental procedures to ensure secure communications and share system resources over an insecure public network channel. Especially, the purpose of the one-time password is to make it more difficult to gain unauthorized access to restricted resources. Instead of using the password file as conventional authentication systems, many researchers have devoted to implement various one-time password schemes using smart cards, time-synchronized token or short message service in order to reduce the risk of tampering and maintenance cost. However, these schemes are impractical because of the far from ubiquitous hardware devices or the infrastructure requirements. To remedy these weaknesses, the attraction of the QR code technique can be introduced into our one-time password authentication protocol. Not the same as before, the proposed scheme based on QR code not only eliminates the usage of the password verification table, but also is a cost effective solution since most internet users already have mobile phones.

In this paper, for grouped data, three kinds of the Choquet integral regression models with fuzzy measures based on joint entropy, complexity and multiple mutual information is considered. The above three fuzzy measures are called, E-measure, C-measure and M-measure, respectively. For evaluating the Choquet integral regression models with these three information-based fuzzy measures, a real grouped data experiment by using a 5-fold cross validation accuracy is conducted. The performances of the Choquet integral regression models based on these three fuzzy measures, respectively, and the traditional multiple linear regression model are compared. Experimental result shows that the Choquet integral regression model based on our proposed M-measure has the best performance and it outperforms the Choquet integral regression model based on our previous proposed C-measure.

This paper presents a novel color correction method for automatic detection of identical objects from images captured in different environments. The proposed method extracts illumination color features using the color board image captured in each illumination and defines conversion vectors from a source illumination to a target illumination in the pre-processing step. In the color correction step, we apply the conversion vectors to RGB elements of each pixel in the object image. In the experiments, we captured two images including a color palette and three target objects in different illumination conditions. We define one image as a source and the other as a target. Illumination conversion vectors for the color correction are defined based on the difference between two color palette images and applied to the source image. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed color correction, we compared the color differences of identical objects in target, source and corrected images.

Recently, the resource sharing systems apply the P2P technique to provide scalable multi-attribute range queries. However, due to the heterogeneity of resources and the variation of sharing policies in different providers, current P2P-based resource discovery systems may suffer the load imbalance problem in a large scale distributed system. In this paper, we propose a self-adaptive resource index and discovery system (SARIDS) to achieve load balancing. SARIDS adopts a two-tier architecture based on the structured P2P overlay. The intra-overlay is constructed by normal peers with the same attribute via the locality preserving hash function; and, the inter-overlay is constructed by super-peers with classified attributes in different intra-overlays. SARIDS supports not only the multi-attribute range queries but also the self-adaptive mechanisms for load balancing in the intra-overlay and among the intra-overlays. The simulation results show that SARIDS is scalable and efficient for load balancing even in the non-uniform peer range environment.

This paper proposes a novel type-2 fuzzy ontology, including a type-2 food ontology and a type-2 FML-based ontology, for diet assessment. In addition, the paper presents a type-2 fuzzy diet assessment agent. In the proposed approach, firstly, the nutrition facts of various kinds of food are collected from the Internet and the convenience store. Next, the domain experts construct the type-2 fuzzy ontology, then the involved volunteers are requested to input eaten items. Finally, the proposed agent displays the diet assessment of the input eaten items based on the constructed type-2 fuzzy ontology. The experimental results show that the proposed approach is feasible for diet assessment.

In this paper, we propose an information hiding scheme to embed secret information into the compression code of an index table. First, the codewords neighboring the current processed index along with their closest codewords form a state codebook. Two indices of the state codebook are reserved as indicators. Once the current processed index satisfies some pre-defined conditions, the current processed index can be encoded using the state codebook, and the secret bit can be embedded in the compression code. On the other hand, the reserved indices are taken as indicators to denote that the current processed index is encoded by the VQ mechanism. On the basis of our experimental results, the bit rates of the proposed method are lower than those of related works. The improvements in bit rates increase when the quantity of the embedded bits increases.
