Event extraction in rail transit plays a vital role in all stages of design, construction, and final acceptance. Event extraction is a key part of building event logic graph (ELG). However, the difficulty in obtaining semantic features and event local dependencies poses a challenge to accurate event extraction, which hinders the informatization and intelligent development of rail transit projects. To address these challenges, we proposes an event extraction method that fuses semantic and local dependency features. The study initially preprocesses the rail transit design codes dataset and performs sequence labeling. Then, the event trigger words are mined by combining the term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) and minimum edit distance (MED) algorithms. Based on the semantic similarity measurement method and the trigger word mining results, the features representation of event semantic information is enhanced by using the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model and Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) model. At the same time, event arguments are mined and a local dependency graph is generated based on their mining results, and then the enhanced local dependency features are obtained by using the graph convolutional network (GCN). Finally, the event semantic features and local dependency features are fused, and the conditional random field (CRF) is used to predict the labels to obtain the event extraction results. Through the comparison with five baseline methods on the datasets of rail transit design codes, it is found that the Precision, Recall, and F1 score of the proposed method are improved, with an average improvement of 9.604% on Precision, 9.342% on Recall, and 9.730% on F1 score, respectively. The contribution of the sub-modules to the overall performance is further evaluated through ablation experiments, which confirms the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. © 2024 IEEE.

With the current rise in popularity of open source silicon design there is a need for low-cost high-quality SoC design tools. This paper presents an open-source python-based standard cell library char-acterizer compatible with combinational and sequen-tial cells. This characterizer can be configured from a single YAML file, reducing the complexity of the char-acterization process for silicon designers and enabling repeatable characterization through easy integration with existing version control tools. The characterizer generates a liberty file for the cell library that can be used by other EDA tools. The tool is compared to a com-mercial characterizer using an open-source PDK. Timing results are within 1 nanosecond mean absolute er-ror compared to commercial characterization tools.

In recent years, artificial intelligence and automotive industry have developed rapidly, and autonomous driving has gradually become the focus of the industry. In road networks, the problem of proximity detection refers to detecting whether two moving objects are close to each other or not in real time. However, the battery life and computing capability of mobile devices are limited in the actual scene,which results in high latency and energy consumption. Therefore, it is a tough problem to determine the proximity relationship between mobile users with low latency and energy consumption. In this article, we aim at finding a tradeoff between latency and energy consumption. We formalize the computation offloading problem base on mobile edge computing(MEC)into a constrained multiobjective optimization problem(CMOP) and utilize NSGA-II to solve it. The simulation results demonstrate that NSGA-II can find the Pareto set, which reduces the latency and energy consumption effectively. In addition, a large number of solutions provided by the Pareto set give us more choices of the offloading decision according to the actual situation.

Stochastic computing (SC) provides low-area, power-efficient hardware solutions suitable for edge systems, but its scalability poses challenges due to its precision limitations, especially in noisy environments. This paper investigates the fault tolerance of key SC components, such as stochastic number generators (SNGs) and activation functions (AFs), within recurrent and sequential networks like long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. We inject bit-flip faults into a network’s most sensitive inputs, weights and AFs, and study fault propagation across different network layers. Our findings reveal that SC component choices significantly influence fault tolerance. For example, networks using Sobol-based SNGs with tanh AFs exhibited stronger resilience than those with LFSR-based SNGs and ReLU AFs, by maintaining higher accuracy under fault conditions. However, the accuracy of the networks declined significantly under simultaneous faults in inputs, weights and AFs. Additionally, while increasing stochastic number lengths improved fault tolerance, they also increased latency. Nevertheless, the SC networks achieved up to 54% area and 72% power savings, making them ideal for resource-constrained applications. We also found that there is a trade-off between efficiency and fault tolerance: SC designs that focus on resource efficiency may struggle in noisy environments, where fault-tolerant SC designs are more effective. This implies that fault resilience in SC architectures depend heavily on design choices and cannot be assumed inherent across all configurations.

Recent advances in near-sensor computing have prompted the need to design low-cost digital filters for edge devices. Stochastic computing (SC), leveraging its probabilistic bit-streams, has emerged as a compelling alternative to traditional deterministic computing for filter design. This paper examines error tolerance, area and power efficiency, and accuracy loss in SC-based digital filters. Specifically, we investigate the impact of various stochastic number generators and increased filter complexity on both FIR and IIR filters. Our results indicate that in an error-free environment, SC exhibits a 49% area advantage and a 64% power efficiency improvement, albeit with a slight loss of accuracy, compared to traditional binary implementations. Furthermore, when the input bit-streams are subject to a 2% bit-flip error rate, SC FIR and SC IIR filters have a much smaller performance degradation (1.3X and 1.9X, respectively) than comparable binary filters. In summary, this work provides useful insights into the advantages of stochastic computing in digital filter design, showcasing its robust error resilience, significant area and power efficiency gains, and trade-offs in accuracy compared to traditional binary approaches.

As a decentralized machine learning paradigm, Federated Learning (FL) is an emerging technique to protect user data privacy in Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). FL adopts the idea of distributed privacy computing, enabling the terminal devices to train machine learning models required by servers locally and upload model parameters to servers for aggregation. However, in the process of coupling FL with MEC systems, device heterogeneity, malicious use of poisoned data by users and limited system resources will seriously affect FL training accuracy, system reliability and energy efficiency. In this paper, a highly reliable and energy-efficient FL scheme is designed to solve these issues. Specifically, we first propose a calculation method for estimating the reliability of heterogeneous devices. Then, we design a highly reliable device selection scheme based on devices' reliability, computing power, and participation times. Finally, we utilize the slack time in FL training to dynamically adjust the voltage and frequency of devices for reducing the energy consumption of training. Experimental results show that our proposed scheme improves the accuracy by up to 36.45% on average and saves energy by up to 48.63% when compared to the baseline and benchmarking methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Modern real-world application scenarios like Internet services consist of a diversity of AI and non-AI modules with huge code sizes and long and complicated execution paths, which raises serious benchmarking or evaluating challenges. Using AI components or micro benchmarks alone can lead to error-prone conclusions. This paper presents a methodology to attack the above challenge. We formalize a real-world application scenario as a Directed Acyclic Graph-based model and propose the rules to distill it into a permutation of essential AI and non-AI tasks, which we call a scenario benchmark. Together with seventeen industry partners, we extract nine typical scenario benchmarks. We design and implement an extensible, configurable, and flexible benchmark framework. We implement two Internet service AI scenario benchmarks based on the framework as proxies to two real-world application *** consider scenario, component, and micro benchmarks as three indispensable parts for evaluating. Our evaluation shows the advantage of our methodology against using component or micro AI benchmarks alone. Amidst global warming and escalating extreme weather events, indoor environmental quality's impact on human health and public hygiene gains prominence. Environmental parameters exist essentially as fields, which are characterized by high dimensionality, density and complexity, and contain massive amounts of information in space. To facilitate visualization and analysis of indoor environmental field, we design and implement BuildEnVR, an immersive analysis system by virtual reality, enabling remote analysis of real-time and historical environmental field data. Grounded in user needs and cognitive psychology, three visualization modes emerge: the Virtual Sensor mode enables users to access perceptual data in real-time at any 3D coordinates in ambient space, the 4D Heatmap mode visualizes spatial variations and trends over time in environmental field data, and the Synaesthesia mode realizes the fusion display of multi-dimensional environmental field data, allowing users to quickly understand the overall condition of the indoor environment with a low cognitive load. Extensive user surveys validate BuildEnVR's intuitiveness and precision, and it is suitable for both experts and general users. © 2024 IEEE.
