A study on the impact of heritage protection on urban carbon emissions

A major goal of current international urban development and construction is to lower carbon *** exist between the preservation of historic cities and the development of low-carbon cities;however,the relationship between preservation of historic cities and carbon emissions remains *** study focuses on the cities in the“Yellow-Canal-Yangtze”watershed community,which includes the Yellow River Basin,Yangtze River Basin,and the Grand Canal region,and aims to verify the differences in CO_(2) emissions(CE)between historic and non-historic cities through multiple comparisons after ***,Ridge Regression was used to determine the impact and dimensions of the relevant variables associated with the preservation of historic cities on *** with national development goals,this study predicts changes in the CE of historic city preservation under different *** study found significant differences between historic and non-historic cities,as the total CE of historic cities is 2.42 times higher than that of non-historic *** dimension with the largest difference was the CE related to transportation,with aviation emissions of historic cities reaching 15.22 times higher than that of non-historic *** the preservation of historic cities has led to an overall increase in the CE,there is significant potential for CE reduction in land use,transportation infrastructure,and tourism development related to historic city *** the future,historic cities can contribute to China's carbon neutrality and the United Nation's development goals through the creation of larger historical preservation areas,more convenient public transportation,and more vibrant tourism.

piRT-IFC:Physics-informed real-time impedance flow cytometry for the characterization of cellular intrinsic electrical properties

Real-time transformation was important for the practical implementation of impedance flow *** major obstacle was the time-consuming step of translating raw data to cellular intrinsic electrical properties(e.g.,specific membrane capacitance C_(sm) and cytoplasm conductivityσ_(cyto)).Although optimization strategies such as neural network-aided strategies were recently reported to provide an impressive boost to the translation process,simultaneously achieving high speed,accuracy,and generalization capability is still *** this end,we proposed a fast parallel physical fitting solver that could characterize single cells’C_(sm)andσ_(cyto)within 0.62 ms/cell without any data preacquisition or pretraining *** achieved the 27000-fold acceleration without loss of accuracy compared with the traditional *** on the solver,we implemented physics-informed real-time impedance flow cytometry(piRT-IFC),which was able to characterize up to 100,902 cells’C_(sm) andσ_(cyto)within 50 min in a real-time *** to the fully connected neural network(FCNN)predictor,the proposed real-time solver showed comparable processing speed but higher ***,we used a neutrophil degranulation cell model to represent tasks to test unfamiliar samples without data for *** being treated with cytochalasin B and N-Formyl-Met-Leu-Phe,HL-60 cells underwent dynamic degranulation processes,and we characterized cell’s C_(sm)andσ_(cyto)using *** to the results from our solver,accuracy loss was observed in the results predicted by the FCNN,revealing the advantages of high speed,accuracy,and generalizability of the proposed piRT-IFC.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as integral components in logistics systems, where their potential for efficient delivery services is being explored. However, the limited battery capacity of UAVs poses a significant challenge for long-distance delivery applications. In this paper, we investigate a hybrid problem involving UAV trajectory planning and charging scheduling for long-distance logistics systems with a charging network. In the problem under study, multiple UAVs are assigned long-distance delivery tasks. A UAV can stop at any charging station in the charging network to charge if it is in a low-energy state. An Ant Colony Optimization-based UAV Trajectory Planning and Charging Scheduling (ACO-TPCS) algorithm is proposed to minimize task completion time by optimizing UAV trajectory and charging plans. The main framework of the ACO-TPCS algorithm consists of several key components, including reachable graph construction, candidate flight path generation, pheromone matrix construction, ant generation, feasible solution generation, and pheromone update method. All these components are delicately designed. Through extensive experimentation and comparison with baseline algorithms, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the ACO-TPCS algorithm in addressing the problem under study. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

With the current rise in popularity of open source silicon design there is a need for low-cost high-quality SoC design tools. This paper presents an open-source python-based standard cell library char-acterizer compatible with combinational and sequen-tial cells. This characterizer can be configured from a single YAML file, reducing the complexity of the char-acterization process for silicon designers and enabling repeatable characterization through easy integration with existing version control tools. The characterizer generates a liberty file for the cell library that can be used by other EDA tools. The tool is compared to a com-mercial characterizer using an open-source PDK. Timing results are within 1 nanosecond mean absolute er-ror compared to commercial characterization tools.

Euphemism, which is often used to disguise true intentions or soften the tone of speech, has garnered significant attention for its detection in recent years. Current approaches to euphemism detection struggle with uncommon data, where new and rare vocabularies frequently emerge in the test set, leading to decreased model performance. To address these challenges, we propose a novel framework that combines data augmentation, self-training, and a special sample selection method. We expand the original dataset using lexical and sentence-level data augmentation techniques, enhancing the representation of rare vocabulary and allowing the model to familiarize itself with their contexts and usage characteristics. Next, we employ self-training as a semi-supervised learning approach, utilizing the augmented datasets to iteratively generate and refine pseudo-labels. During each iteration, a KNN framework is used to generate pseudo-labels by searching for the nearest neighbor texts, thus enhancing the quality of these labels. Finally, to further increase the presence of rare vocabulary in the training data, we implement a sample selection strategy based on euphemism frequency and predictive uncertainty, integrating it with the earlier steps. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework outperforms previous research on most metrics and achieves a 10% increase over the baseline model. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The resource-constrained task scheduling problem has been one of the popular research topics in cloud computing systems. By employing the dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) techniques, the task scheduling can be further constrained by energy consumption. The paper investigates the DAG task scheduling considering both the resource and energy constraints in heterogeneous distributed systems. The objective is to minimize the scheduling length. An energy-constrained task scheduling framework is employed, where tasks are initially scheduled according to their upward rank values. Then two heuristics are proposed to improve the initial solution, namely, the simulated annealing local search method and the frequency adjustment method. Experiments are conducted by testing a large number of instances with multiple parameter settings, and the results show that the proposed algorithms are effective and efficient. © 2023 IEEE.

Geothermal reservoirs refer to any heat stored, naturally, in the earth's crust;it is considered as resource coming from a natural complex depending on the geological, geophysical aspect and territories geochemistry. Although this natural resource remains distinguished by his characters to be a renewable, ecological, universal and sustainable mining energy, it stills not, yet, sufficiently exploitable worldwide (El Bouazouli et al., 2020). The same finding was brought up in Moroccan context, despite the presence of some hot resources and capitalizable scientific research to develop this potential. Prospecting for underground geothermal resources is an expensive project that deserves to mobilize scientific and technical methods in order to overcome this risky impasse. Thus, Geomatics has been used, drawing on Remote Sensing for geo-spatial exploration in order to guide prospecting through the development of geothermal deposits potential maps at very low and medium depth on Moroccan territories (El Bouazouli et al., 2019). Furthermore, we explore smart tools to support short and long-term decision-making in terms of creating of clean energy mix and complementary mining energy as well as investment in energy exploration operations. And, as an experiment, we chose for this study, areas distributed mainly in the Moroccan Sahara and the Souss Massa Region, known, probably, by a potentially high geothermal gradient, and therefore constituting geothermal energy reservoirs. As for the exploration methodology adopted, it consists in processing of the imageries: LANDSAT 8, MODIS AND ASTER, in order to extract exploitation indices such as the surface temperature, the layer of lineaments and cracks density, and evidence of hydrothermal alteration that may indicate geothermal activity. The correlation between these three factors, will lead us to conclude that the Moroccan Sahara area is considered as one of the most potential geothermal reservoir areas in Morocco. In short, the a
