Effective communication is crucial when working on complex or wicked problems in interdisciplinary, international teams. Developing a shared understanding of critical concepts and aligning knowledge, focus, and resources can be problematic when stakeholders speak different languages, span several disciplines and work within different national or industry-based norms. Using visual tools to represent critical concepts and their relations, and map out our strategic goals has greatly helped combat such issues. This paper recounts the use and impact of adopting visual tools within the transnational and interdisciplinary collaborative environment in the BC4ECO project's international consortium. The Miro Board and the canvas approach greatly helped represent, visualise, and thus concretise the structure and contents of our collaboration, which takes place within a 3 years ERASMUS+ framework that builds and delivers Summer School, MOOCS as well as teacher and multiplier events about harnessing the potential of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs) for environmental sustainability. As the materials and MOOCS are expected to become Open Education Resources and have a wide impact, it is particularly crucial to get the contents as well as the pedagogy right, in spite of the team's differences in almost any dimension of background and culture.

Hunger games search (HGS) is a recently proposed meta-heuristic algorithm based on hunger-driven activities and animal behavior choices, and it has been proven to possess global exploration ability and can solve both constrained and unconstrained problems effectively. Differential evolution (DE) algorithm is a heuristic random search algorithm based on the evolution differences among different individuals, and it can exploit local regions within a neighborhood of an individual. To fully utilize characteristics of both algorithms, this paper for the first time proposes a hybrid algorithm based on HGS and DE. Furthermore, DE is also enhanced by a new ranking-based mechanism to generate more promising solutions. Experimental results on IEEE CEC2017 benchmark functions indicate the effectiveness of the hybrid algorithm, namely DEHGS, in comparison with some other state-of-The-Art algorithms. © 2021 IEEE.

Virtual Reality (VR) technology has grown and emerged in the tourism industry. It offering immersive and interactive experiences, VR has transformed how people discover and interact with the VRML and people interact with different destinations. This article explores the use of VR in tourism, and focusing on Virtual Reality Markup Language (VRML) and its role in showcasing the evolution of head-mounted displays (HMDs) and the various applications of VR. It emphasizes how VR can improve travel experiences, aid in destination planning, preserve cultural heritage, support adventure tourism, and revolutionize destination marketing. The article also gives the challenges and limitations faced by VR in tourism, as well as future trends and opportunities in the field. The article impact of VR on the tourism industry and discusses the combination of Augmented Reality (AR) and VR to create virtual art exhibitions in physical and online spaces. Additionally, it provides insights into the future of VR, AR, and Mixed Reality (MR), the use of VRML, and the development of 3D modeling for creating virtual environments that help users achieve learning objectives.

Stratospheric balloons have emerged as an affordable and flexible alternative to traditional spacecrafts as they are implemented using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment without following strict methodologies. HERCCULES is a stratospheric balloon mission that aims to characterize the convective heat and radiative environment in the stratosphere. The purpose of this article is to present the HERCCULES onboard software (OBSW) whose design and complexity is comparable to that of satellite systems, since it must control about sixty COTS equipment using a single Raspberry Pi 4B as onboard computer and ensure the real-time requirements. Compared to similar systems, novel contributions are presented as the OBSW is developed following model-based and component-based approaches using the TASTE toolchain from the European Space. © 2024, CC BY.

The purpose of this research is intended to study and analyze the Kubernetes technology using the processes of performance evaluation by inspecting how many requests and responses could the server handle. According to the ability of Kubernetes technology, there is no systematic measure of performance despite the Kubernetes is currently in use broadly. Therefore, this paper proposed to test out the system by measuring the effectiveness according to a structured process by studying such measurement variables including the number of requests per second, number of responses to requests, and resource extension period with Kubernetes technology. Which from the testing and analysis of all three variables as mentioned, it is possible to know the efficiency of the Kubernetes technology in such a similar environment. Moreover, the testing experiment could display a piece of information on the dashboard for visualization and analytic purposes. © 2021 IEEE.

Sparse matrix-sparse vector multiplication (SpMSpV) is an important primitive for graph algorithms and machine learning applications. The sparsity of the input and output vectors makes its floating point efficiency in general lower than sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV) and sparse matrix-matrix multiplication (SpGEMM). Existing parallel SpMSpV methods focused on various row- and column-wise storage formats and merging operations. However, the data locality and sparsity pattern of the input matrix and vector are largely ignored. We in this paper propose TileSpMSpV, a tiled algorithm for accelerating SpMSpV on GPUs. Firstly, tile-wise storage structures are developed for fast positioning a group of nonzeros in matrix and vectors. Then, we develop the TileSpMSpV algorithm on top of the storage structures. In addition, to accelerate directional optimization breadth-first search (BFS) by using TileSpMSpV, we propose a TileBFS algorithm including three kernels called Push-CSC, Push-CSR and Pull-CSC. In the experiments running on a high-end NVIDIA GPU and using 2757 sparse matrices, the TileSpMSpV algorithm outperforms TileSpMV, cuSPARSE and CombBLAS by a factor of on average 1.83, 17.18 and 17.20 (up to 7.68, 1050.02 and 235.90), respectively. Moreover, our TileBFS algorithm outperforms Gunrock and GSwitch by a factor of on average 2.88 and 4.52 (up to 21.35 and 1000.85), respectively.

Vanilla Deep Neural Networks (DNN) after training are represented with native floating-point 32 (fp32) weights. We observe that the bit-level sparsity of these weights is very abundant in the mantissa and can be directly exploited to speed up model inference. In this paper, we propose Mortar, an off-line/on-line collaborated approach for fp32 DNN acceleration, which includes two parts: first, an off-line bit sparsification algorithm to construct the target formulation by “mantissa morphing”, which maintains higher model accuracy while increasing bit-level sparsity; second, the associating hardware accelerator architecture to speed up the on-line fp32 inference through manipulating the enlarged bit sparsity. We highlight the following results by evaluating various deep learning tasks, including image classification, object detection, video understanding, video & image super-resolution, etc.: We (1) increase bit-level sparsity up to 1.28~2.51x with only a negligible -0.09~0.23% accuracy loss, (2) maintain on average 3.55% higher model accuracy while increasing more bit-level sparsity than the baseline, (3)and our hardware accelerator outperforms up to 4.8x over the baseline, with an area of 0.031 mm 2 and power of 68.58mW.

Asia stands out as a priority for urgent biodiversity conservation due to its large protected areas(PAs)and threatened *** the 21st century,both the highlands and lowlands of Asia have been experiencing the dramatic human ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity is poorly ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity over 2000 to 2020 in Asia at the continental(Asia),national(48 Asian countries),and hotspot(6,502 Asian terrestrial PAs established before 2000)scales is investigated by integrating multiple large-scale *** results show that human expansion poses widespread threat to biodiversity in Asia,especially in Southeast Asia,with Malaysia,Cambodia,and Vietnam having the largest threat degrees(~1.5 to 1.7 times of the Asian average level).Human expansion in highlands induces higher threats to biodiversity than that in lowlands in one-third Asian countries(most Southeast Asian countries).The regions with threats to biodiversity are present in~75%terrestrial PAs(including 4,866 PAs in 26 countries),and human expansion in PAs triggers higher threat degrees to biodiversity than that in *** findings provide novel insight for the Sustainable Development Goal 15(SDG-15 Life on Land)and suggest that human expansion in Southeast Asian countries and PAs might hinder the realization of *** reduce the threat degree,Asian developing countries should accelerate economic transformation,and the developed countries in the world should reduce the demands for commodity trade in Southeast Asian countries(i.e.,trade leading to the loss of wildlife habitats)to alleviate human expansion,especially in PAs and highlands.

This article presents the design and development of real-time tracking system using GPS for soccer players. The tracking system is separated into two parts including hardware and software sections. The hardware uses NodeMCUV3 which is connected to the GPS module that can receive a current position data of soccer players. After that, it processes and records the position data into the MicroSD card module. In the software section can display the heat map results from recorded data of soccer players. The main user is a soccer club manager which is responsible for monitoring the data that tested on the movement of the soccer player. For the experimental results, a device is tested, and the movement data is collected. Also, it is found that the tracking device could track the athlete's movements successfully. © 2021 IEEE.
