Images for social media are an essential component of any blog or social media post. As we now live in the age of the ‘camera in everyone’s pocket’, a new dynamic era of image creation and content has emerged. However, people use media due to specific motives or gratifications that lead to their satisfaction of social media use. This research study utilized uses and gratification theory (UGT), a sociology theory related to the motives of people using the media. The UGT factors include enjoyment, entertainment, social influence, social interaction, and information sharing. There were 441 data that were collected and analysed. IBM SPSS Statistics 20 and Smart PLS 3.3.3 were used for the data analysis. Result showed that information sharing was the most influencing factors on users’ satisfaction to use image in social media. Therefore, the factors identified in these studies could be used as a guideline and references in future study related to social media awareness and implications. © 2022. In today’s world, health and medicine play an undeniable role in human life. Traditional and current Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems that are used to exchange information between medical stakeholders (patients, physicians, insurance companies, pharmaceuticals, medical researchers, etc.) suffer weaknesses in terms of security and privacy due to having centralized architecture. Blockchain technology ensures the privacy and security of EHR systems thanks to the use of encryption. Moreover, due to its decentralized nature, this technology prevents central failure and central attack points. In this paper, a systematic literature review (SLR) is proposed to analyze the existing Blockchain-based approaches for improving privacy and security in electronic health systems. The research methodology, paper selection process, and the search query are explained. 51 papers returned from our search criteria published between 2018 and Dec 2022 are reviewed. The main ideas, type of Blockchain, evaluation metrics, and used tools of each selected paper are discussed in detail. Localization is crucial in wireless sensor networks for various applications,such as tracking objects in outdoor environments where GPS(Global Positioning System)or prior installed infrastructure is ***,traditional techniques involve many anchor nodes,increasing costs and reducing *** solutions do not address the selection of appropriate anchor nodes and selecting localized nodes as assistant anchor nodes for the localization process,which is a critical element in the localization ***,an inaccurate average hop distance significantly affects localization *** propose an improved DV-Hop algorithm based on anchor sets(AS-IDV-Hop)to improve the localization *** simulation analysis,we validated that the ASIDV-Hop proposed algorithm is more efficient in minimizing localization errors than existing *** ASIDV-Hop algorithm provides an efficient and cost-effective solution for localization in Wireless Sensor *** strategically selecting anchor and assistant anchor nodes and rectifying the average hop distance,AS-IDV-Hop demonstrated superior performance,achieving a mean accuracy of approximately 1.59,which represents about 25.44%,38.28%,and 73.00%improvement over other algorithms,*** estimated localization error is approximately 0.345,highlighting AS-IDV-Hop’s *** substantial reduction in localization error underscores the advantages of implementing AS-IDV-Hop,particularly in complex scenarios requiring precise node localization.

Recently, Kubernetes is widely used to manage and schedule the resources of microservices in cloud-native distributed applications, as the most famous container orchestration framework. However, Kubernetes preferentially schedules microservices to nodes with rich and balanced CPU and memory resources on a single node. The native scheduler of Kubernetes, called Kube-scheduler, may cause resource fragmentation and decrease resource utilization. In this paper, we propose a deep reinforcement learning enhanced Kubernetes scheduler named DRS. We initially frame the Kubernetes scheduling problem as a Markov decision process with intricately designed state, action, and reward structures in an effort to increase resource usage and decrease load imbalance. Then, we design and implement DRS mointor to perceive six parameters concerning resource utilization and create a thorough picture of all available resources globally. Finally, DRS can automatically learn the scheduling policy through interaction with the Kubernetes cluster, without relying on expert knowledge about workload and cluster status. We implement a prototype of DRS in a Kubernetes cluster with five nodes and evaluate its performance. Experimental results highlight that DRS overcomes the shortcomings of Kube-scheduler and achieves the expected scheduling target with three workloads. With only 3.27% CPU overhead and 0.648% communication delay, DRS outperforms Kube-scheduler by 27.29% in terms of resource utilization and reduces load imbalance by 2.90 times on average. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Forecasting and managing urban futures: machine learning models and optimization of urban expansion

This paper presents a novel method for predicting and controlling urban growth by combining convolutional neural networks (CNN) with Spider Monkey Optimization (SMO) to efficiently use their combined capabilities. This strategy utilizes sophisticated machine learning algorithms to forecast urban development patterns, while optimization technologies enhance these forecasts by including sustainable urban design ideas. Integration plays a crucial role in tackling the difficulties presented by fast urbanization, including issues related to land use, resource administration, and environmental sustainability in the fields of civil and architectural engineering. The study employs large datasets to assess the efficacy of CNN models in detecting urban expansion patterns and enhances these models with optimization scenarios encompassing land use, traffic flow, electricity efficiency, water resources, and waste management, all with the goal of enhancing urban sustainability. The findings demonstrate a significant improvement in the precision of predictions and the ability to maintain positive results, highlighting the crucial role of integrating machine learning and optimization in urban planning methodologies. This method not only provides urban planners and politicians with strong and effective tools for making decisions but also creates opportunities for implementing creative and sustainable solutions for urban growth. The results provide a substantial contribution to the existing urban planning literature by demonstrating the actual use of these technologies in regulating urban expansion. Detecting Android Malware with Convolutional Neural Networks and Hilbert Space-Filling Curves

computer vision techniques have advanced greatly in recent years through deep learning, achieving unprecedented performance. This has motivated applying deep learning to malware detection through image-based approaches to circumvent extensive feature engineering for diverse threats. However, existing work converting Android binaries to rectangular images neglects the intrinsic byte sequence structure, introducing spurious spatial relationships that weaken detection accuracy. To address this, space-filling curves have mapped binaries to images while preserving ordering. This paper proposes a novel method using Hilbert space-filling curves to visualize and classify Android apps. Bytecode is extracted from Dalvik Executable (DEX) files and transformed to grayscale images via Hilbert coding for model training. Additionally, a novel and balanced image dataset is proposed consisting of Hilbert transformations for 4995 benign and 4995 malicious Android apps randomly sampled from the AndroZoo repository. Experiments using this dataset evaluated pre-trained InceptionV3, VGG16, ResNet50 and EfficientNetB0 via transfer learning. A custom Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was also trained from scratch. InceptionV3 achieved the highest performance at 97.99% accuracy, 98.50% precision, 97.50% recall and 97.99% F1-score. Comparative assessment with previous image-based malware detection research indicates our approach outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. By leveraging Hilbert space-filling curves to map binaries to images while preserving sequential relationships, detection accuracy is improved over methods introducing extraneous spatial representations. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Incorporating Onboard Visual Sensing and Geographic Information for Lane-Level Vehicle Localization

With the recent advances in deep learning and artificial intelligence, vehicular technologies are progressing rapidly toward fully autonomous driving. Critical components of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have been extensively investigated in the past decade. In this paper, we address the challenge of precise vehicle localization using visual perception and geographic information. The proposed method incorporates drivable area detection, lane line detection, and image-map matching to achieve lane-level localization accuracy. It takes advantage of digital maps and images from the onboard cameras to simultaneously optimize vehicle localization and lane detection. A confidence estimation is proposed to generate virtual lane lines for the lane marking identification. Our networks are pre-trained on the Cityscapes, CULane and TuSimple datasets, and fine-tuned with the newly proposed TRoad and TLane. In the experiments, the performance evaluated using MAE and RMSE have demonstrated a significant improvement over the conventional GPS/GNSS-based vehicle localization techniques. Trust management in the internet of vehicles: a systematic literature review of blockchain integration

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) promises to revolutionize transportation in smart cities, but its interconnectedness raises critical security and privacy concerns. Limited computational power, diverse network technologies, and many sensors and vehicles challenge data integrity and trust in data exchange. Existing solutions, often dependent on specific environments and protocols, struggle to address these issues across the entire IoV ecosystem. This paper explores the potential of blockchain technology to address these challenges. We argue that blockchain’s immutability and decentralization offer a unique solution for trust management in various IoV environments. We review existing blockchain-based algorithms and models proposed for IoV integration and propose a novel taxonomy to categorize these approaches. This taxonomy will help us analyze effective parameters, implementation methods, and evaluation metrics in the reviewed literature. According to our research, the most critical evaluation parameter for blockchain-based methods is time, including system-level service-related time parameters and solution implementation time, and 38% of existing papers simulated the approach using Hyperledger. Additionally, we will identify key challenges from integrating blockchain into the IoV landscape. By providing a comprehensive review and analysis of blockchain-based trust management solutions for IoV, this paper aims to contribute to the ongoing development of secure and reliable intelligent transportation systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.
