In this paper, to expand a control bandwidth of AC servo motor, a new current vector control considering an output delay of PWM Inverter is proposed. The proposed current control is a I-P control with an additional feedback gain, which is based on an extended state feedback consisted from a d-q motor model, the output delay of PWM inverter and an integrator of ACR. In addition, the proposed method is easy to implement to the existing AC servo system. The effectiveness of proposed method is validated in a computer simulation and an experiments using a 3.7 kW class motor test bench. In the condition that a cut-off frequency of ACR is close to a carrier frequency, the simulation results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at the higher cut-off frequency. Moreover, the experimental results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at each operating point. From the results, the proposed method is effective to the expand the bandwidth of AC servo motor.

In recent decades, digital signages have been widely used. Specifically, digital signages that have a purpose of either providing information or advertising, it is important to direct people’s attention toward that information. Conventionally, some approaches to attract viewer’s attention include using animation and audible information such as playing background music or a flashing a catchphrase. However, language information has not been implemented in these approaches. In this study, we propose a method to call out a specific person to the front of a digital signage by using color images and depth information. By calling out a specific person by using this method, it is expected for this person to have an awareness that they are a target intended by a digital signage. In this study, we conducted experiments that use utterances based on a person’s position, distance from a digital signage, clothing colors, or a pair of two features. Based on the study results, we confirm that a pair of features, that is, clothing color and depth, is the most effective to call out a specific person to the front of a digital signage

Magnesium chips were coated with a high concentration of graphite using a binder and were used as the raw material for injection molding. The microstructure of the magnesium injection-molded product with added graphite exhibited a dispersion of needle-like graphite particles. No significant voids were observed at the interfaces between the graphite and the matrix. The addition of more than 0.5 mass% graphite decreased the proof stress and tensile strength of the injection-molded products. The Young’s modulus of the graphite-added products tended to decrease with an increase in the graphite content, which is consistent with the lower limit of the rule of mixtures. The thermal conductivity of the 6.9 mass% graphite-added product increased compared with that of the AZ91D magnesium alloy and the coefficient of linear thermal expansion decreased. Both values are within a range that satisfied the rules of mixtures. © 2024 The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials.

The task of colorizing grayscale images has been performed manually for a long time. Recently, neural networks have found their use in this domain. In this project we propose a system that takes a grayscale image as an input and produces a colored image of the same. The technique implemented in this project does not require complicated human inputs or image processing techniques, but rather training of the neural network much like a human mind. Where manual colorization methods can take months to color a single image, neural networks, once trained, are much more efficient in terms of time consumption and also comparable levels of accuracy can be achieved which depends upon training of the neural network. The Neural network works on hit and trial method; at first it makes a random prediction for a pixel, calculates the error and then tries to reduce it as much as possible by the method of backpropagation. The classifier, trained using backpropagation of information, predicts the color of a pixel based on the grayscale value of its own as well as the surrounding pixels in the grayscale image.

To directly investigate the dynamic nanoscale phenomenon on the surface being processed in wet conditions such as precision polishing, and cleaning in semiconductor industrial, an optical method for visualization and observation of each sub-100 nm sized particle that is moving on an interface such as a silica glass surface by applying an evanescent field have been proposing. Subsequently, we developed an experimental apparatus equipped with an optical microscopy system for verifying the moving particle observation method in a laboratory scale. This article introduces some experimentally direct observation results of duplicated wet processes. © 2024 IEEE.

A Q(t) meter is used to measure electrical properties in insulating materials. Here, Q(t) is the integral value of circuit current with time t. It is possible to measure the Q(t) of the insulation material of a capacitor and a cable by using Q(t) meter. The current through an insulating material is divided into an instantaneous charging current, an absorption current and an equilibrium leakage current. It is considered that the absorption current is related to charge accumulation in the insulating materials. In this paper, an enameled wire (1.6 PEW) is used to prepare a cable sample, the Q(t) of the coated polyester (PEs) is measured, and extraction of absorption current components from measured Q(t) are reported. © 2023 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Microgrids have several elements, such as intermittent distributed energy resources, which bring challenges to the system. In order to overcome these challenges, it is necessary to implement a microgrid controller capable of managing energy resources. This management can keep the system stable. In this study, the management of a rural microgrid is proposed. It contains loads, batteries, energy storage systems, and the following generators: wind, photovoltaic, and diesel. The control strategy reduced costs and ensured energy availability, providing flexibility and security for the grid. © 2022 IEEE.

In this report, we present a touchless information provision system and facial expression training using Kinect that can be operated intuitively. This system is intended to allow the user to easily acquire various information by hand gestures. Further, the application has a facial expression training application that brings the advantages of a gaming user interface to the field of healthcare. To provide examinees with appropriate question items, identifying and evaluating users' latent and acquired skills is important in e-learning systems. These latent skills are defined in terms of a Q-matrix. Constructing Q-matrices manually is relatively labor-intensive, because doing so requires expert insight as well as verbal examination to identify which skills students have mastered. Methods to extract a Q-matrix from examination results automatically using nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) have been explored, and improved methods such as online NMF have been proposed, which extracts an immutable Q-matrix from time-series data. In this study, we propose a data preprocessing method to improve the accuracy of NMF using a co-clustering method called an infinite relational model (IRM). We also describe experiments conducted using synthetic data, in which learners'skills and the bias in the number of their responses were evaluated, and show that the results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed approach. © 2022 The Authors. In programming education, it is crucial to provide instruction that is tailored to students’ proficiency levels. For this purpose, an objective evaluation of each student’s coding ability is essential. Additionally, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of source code written by both beginners and advanced students. Previous research has successfully converted the structural information of source code into graphs and assessed coding skills using deep learning, achieving high accuracy. However, it remains unclear which specific structural elements significantly influence these assessments. This study addresses this gap by transforming source code into abstract syntax trees and developing a model that uses Graph Convolutional Networks to categorize code as either beginner or advanced users based on learned structural information. Furthermore, we apply Integrated Gradients to visualize the decision-making basis of our model and elucidate the structural characteristics distinguishing source code written by beginner and advanced users.
