Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) has become the technology of choice for the current and future generation of wireless systems. We have implemented the CDMA IS-95 based Wireless Transceiver System using Matlab Simulink v 7.0. The entire system is implemented using the Xilinx System Generator Block v6.3. Even though the CDMA IS-95 system is already implemented in Simulink and is provided as a demo, there is no way of converting it into real Hardware. Using Xilinx System Generator we have made our implementation capable of being translated into any of the HDL codes. This can be then mapped onto appropriate FPGA easily. We have used the hardware co-simulation feature of the Xilinx System generator to create a library of the basic building blocks of the IS-95 system. This library can be used for implementing to create the various channels that are the part of the CDMA system.

Rapid advancements in computing have lead to sophisticated solutions for real world problems requiring complex logic, hefty interfaces and growing need of intelligence. This elaborates the importance of isolation of logic from interfaces and the availability of reusable standardized tools for tasks, most commonly required by various processes. Auto-Mate is a generic framework aimed at meeting these requirements. A novel approach has been adopted by employing Soar (a general cognitive architecture and AI engine) as a dedicated element for controlling the functionality of the system. The framework also focuses on providing standardized and generic interfaces for software components as well as physical links for hardware interconnection. The framework is made extendible, scalable and compatible with multiple platforms and services for supporting applications of variant magnitudes and scope. Auto-Mate is most suitable for process automation based on discrete events.

A key implementation issue of multicast switching systems is the reduction of cell conflicts which occur when two, or more, cells approach for the same link, internal link or output link, simultaneously. When a cell conflict occurs, only one of the contending cells is allowed to access the link and the others are dropped or stored in internal buffers. The cell contention is the basic reason that the switch throughput drops. Several contention resolution schemes have been proposed. Each input port is associated with a tag queue for storing a routing text of arriving cells, and a cell-scheduling controller is provided to resolve the output contention problem according to the HOL (head-of-line) entries of tag queues. The proposed algorithm differs from previous algorithms in that we consider the output contention resolution for multiple slots instead of only the current time slot. Like a window based scheduling algorithm, our algorithm allows cells behind an HOL cell to be transmitted prior to the HOL cell in the same input port. Thus, HOL blocking can be alleviated. The delay throughput performance of our algorithm outperforms most of those algorithms that consider the output contention resolution only for the current time slot.

Strong growth of both Internet and mobile communication leads to new promising mass-market end-user applications. Telecommunications and computing industries are not only merging their main concepts, but working towards a similar goal, namely to have fully co-operative communication systems that help automate various everyday tasks or chores. Software agent technology provides benefit to both the network Manager and the end user, so that communications systems can be efficiently maintained, which in turn provides increased business productivity and improved value added services. Sophisticated softwares are involved in Communications management and control which aid in decision making on how the network system should be configured and operated. Agents, especially mobile agents seem to be best suited because of their characteristics of autonomy, intelligence, mobility, co-ordination and cooperation. Mobile multi-agent system, control the network elements without having to rely on human mangers. In this paper we examine how mobile agents can enhance traditional connectivity provisioning management services, allowing flexible customer network management with respect to performance, fault and dynamic reconfiguration which are driven by customer-defined policies.
