Mobile platform pervades human life, and much research in recent years has focused on improving the reliability of mobile applications on this platform, for example by applying automatic testing. However, researchers have primarily considered testing of single version of mobile applications. Although regression testing has been extensively studied for desktop applications, the approaches for desktop applications cannot be directly applied to mobile applications. Our approach leverages the combination of static impact analysis and dynamic code coverage information, and identifies a subset of test cases for re-execution on the modified app version. We implement our approach for Android apps, and illustrate its usefulness based on an Android application.

As forecasted by recent research, mobile Internet video traffic is reaching zettabyte capacity in 2019. The fast increments and great usage boost demand in providing high internet service performance. It has become an ongoing research trend to enhance available schemes to comply such demand. The aim of this paper is to propose a new mobile multicast scheme that is able to support high usage of mobile IP traffic. The new scheme is named as route optimized context with multicast fast reroute (RCMFR). The proposed scheme improved network mobility management multicast services support. The network mobility management is known as Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6). The high performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated mathematically. The selected parameters are service recovery time and packet loss cost. The equations for the parameters are derived from signaling flow of the proposed scheme. Base solution is taken as the benchmark, therefore results are analyzed and compared with this scheme. The strengths of the suggested scheme is emphasized using quantitative analysis.

Robust service can be achieved in error prone Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) by dealing with imperfect Channel Quality Information (CQI). CQI is very crucial in evolved Node B (eNodeB) to decide the corresponding modulation and coding scheme in LTE and LTE-A. User Equipment (UE) will measure and estimate the CQI in order to maximize the throughput performance. Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) is used in order to adapt with the channel variation environments but the wireless channel itself is subject to various impairments including imperfect CQI report which may lead to degradation of the Quality of Service (QoS). The performance of two CQI reporting algorithms which are Automated CQI Reporting Algorithm and Average CQI Reporting Algorithm are being analyzed in this paper. The simulation results demonstrated that the Average CQI Reporting Algorithm produced more promising results with the increment about 15% of the system capacity and capable to support delay up to 63.6% compared to Automated CQI Reporting Algorithm with respect to the Packet Loss Ratio (PLR).

We proposed a new adaptive feature extraction (FEA) approach that integrates concepts of per-pixel/field classification and spectral ummixing. It combines their advantages in adaptive feature selection while minimizing the disadvantages associated with the high-complexity of each technique. The approach consists of local gradients calculation, reference clusters determination, prototype classification using fuzzy classifier, and feature vectors selection. Multiple experiments were performed using a simulated hyperspectral cube composed by 123 samples and 1254 features and classification was done only for verification purposes. Cross-validation demonstrated that FEA generated an average improvement of 7% on the misclassification error when compared to full feature analysis.

As technology scaling is already enabling the integration of tens of hundreds of cores on a single chip, kilo-core chip multiprocessors (CMPs) are expected to be available within a decade. However, metallic-based on-chip interconnects may not scale to support kilo-core architectures due to increased hop count, high power dissipation, and increased latency. Emerging technologies such as silicon-photonics and wireless interconnects are under serious consideration as they show promising results for power-efficient, low-latency, and scalable on-chip interconnects. However, photonic technology suffers from scalability issues due to high component cost and complex arbitration while wireless technology lacks sufficient bandwidth for on-chip communication. In this paper, we propose an architecture called Optical-Wireless Network-on-Chip (OWN) that leverages the advantages of wireless and photonic technologies while circumventing the disadvantages of these two emerging technologies. Kilo-core OWN is designed such that one-hop photonic interconnect is used up to 64 cores (called a cluster). For communication beyond a cluster, one-hop wireless interconnect is proposed to enhance scalability. Both wireless and photonic bandwidths are efficiently shared using time division multiplexing (TDM). Moreover, packets routed across technologies are guaranteed to be deadlock-free. Our area results indicate that OWN requires 34% more area than hybrid-wireless architectures and 35.5% less area than photonic architectures. The energy/bit for OWN is 30.36% less than wireless and 13.99% more than photonic architecture. OWN demonstrates higher saturation throughput when compared to wired, wireless, and photonic technologies for synthetic network traffic.

Quaternary encoded binary circuits are more compact than their binary counterpart. Although several methods for designing binary reversible sequential circuits are presented, to the best of our knowledge, no design method for quaternary reversible sequential circuits has yet been reported in the literature. In this paper, we propose a design method for quaternary sequential circuits where the present state outputs are directly fedback to the next state determination circuit and that circuit is realized using QGFSOP expression as a cascade of one-digit, M-S, Feynman, and Toffoli gates. We also develop methods for making the sequential circuit falling-edge triggered and presettable using a quaternary Fred kin gate. As design examples, we present designs for up/down counters and universal registers. As there are no previous designs of quaternary sequential circuits, the closest comparison is made with designs of two-digit quaternary counter and universal register with designs of equivalent four-bit binary counter and universal register, respectively. In comparison to the equivalent binary designs, the proposed method requires less ancilla inputs with an increase in quantum cost.

Random numbers generated by pseudo-random and true random number generators (TRNG), are used in a wide variety of applications. A TRNG relies on a nondeterministic source to produce random numbers. In this paper, we develop a TRNG using a heuristic evolutionary algorithm together with signal processing techniques. Our proposed algorithm consists of three phases:(i) Extraction: where a noise source(such as race conditions during concurrent memory accesses on a GPU) is sampled into random numbers, (ii) Exact Histogram Equalization: takes the output from (i) and delivers a specified output distribution, (iii) Stationarity Enforcement: using a genetic algorithm, the output of (ii) is permuted until the random numbers meet wide sense stationarity within a specified quality defined by Gaussian distribution with the expected standard deviation on the power spectral density of random numbers. We propose guideline parameters for the evolutionary algorithm to ensure fast convergence, within the first 100 generations, with a standard deviation over the specified quality level of less than 0.02.

Power systems with synchronous generators and solar photovoltaic (PV) experience frequency and power fluctuations due to high variability of PV power. Automatic generation control is implemented to control power outputs of the generators and stabilize the system frequency. It is desirable with increasing levels of PV penetration to have foresight of frequency fluctuations to empower advanced control systems. A new methodology is presented in this paper for predicting frequency of synchronous generators in a power system with solar PV. A cellular comput.tional network (CCN) is used to perform the frequency prediction over multi-time scale. CCNs are decentralized and distributed comput.ng paradigms. Thus, CCNs are suitable for fast prediction of frequency of synchronous generators distributed spatially across a power system. The inputs to cells of the CCN are derived from phasor measurement unit (PMU) measurements of frequency and voltage phasor at the respective generator buses. Past, current and predicted measurements enable multi-timescale predictions of synchronous generator frequencies in a power system. Typical multi-time scale frequency predictions using the CCN are illustrated on a two-area four machine power system with solar PV integrated.

In this paper, we propose the example-specific density based matching kernel (ESDMK) for classification of scene images represented as sets of local feature vectors. The proposed kernel is comput.d between the pair of examples, represented as sets of local feature vectors, by matching the estimates of example-specific densities comput.d at every local feature vector in those two examples. In this work, the number of local feature vectors of an example among the K nearest neighbors of a local feature vector is considered as an estimate of the example-specific density. The minimum of the two example-specific densities, one for each example, at a local feature vector is considered as the matching score. The ESDMK is then comput.d as the sum of the matching score comput.d at every local feature vector in a pair of examples. We also propose the spatial ESDMK (SESDMK) to include spatial information present in the scene images while matching the pair of scene images. Each of the scene images is divided spatially into a fixed number of regions. Then the SESDMK is comput.d as a combination of region specific ESDMKs that match the corresponding regions. We study the performance of the support vector machine (SVM) based classifiers using the proposed ESDMKs for scene classification and compare with that of the SVM-based classifiers using the state-of-the-art kernels for sets of local feature vectors.

In this paper, Ultra wideband (UWB) technology is proposed for replacing the large amounts of wiring used in ships which can cause serious problems like electrical interference, short circuit fires and similar trouble. There are numerous applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) like in target tracking, monitoring a large number of sensors at vital points with actuators, controllers etc. However there are not many studies which focus on implementing this technology in Ships. Wireless communications can be difficult in ships due to many metallic structures. The proposed UWB technology is based on novel pulse shapes which are derived from mono cycle sine waves in the GHz range, which have been practically tested and found to comply with the FCC regulations, in terms of power levels and spectral mask limitations. The technique can be operated as a high bit rate fast digital personal area network (PAN). The results obtained practically show that this wireless solution may provide cost-effective alternative to the huge amount of wiring and cables, which are used to interconnect sensors and peripheral devices to central digital control units. The proposed scheme has been analyzed theoretically and implemented practically as well as by simulations.
