Farm-Level Smart Crop Recommendation Framework Using Machine Learning

Agriculture is the primary source of food, fuel, and raw materials and is vital to any country’s economy. Farmers, the backbone of agriculture, primarily rely on instinct to determine what crops to plant in any given season. They are comfortable following customary farming practices and standards and are oblivious to the fact that crop yield is highly dependent on current environmental and soil conditions. Crop recommendations involve multifaceted factors such as weather, soil quality, crop production, market demand, and prices, making it crucial for farmers to make well-informed decisions. An improper or imprudent crop recommendation can affect them, their families, and the entire agricultural sector. Modern technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science have emerged as efficient solutions to combat issues like declining crop production and lower profits. This research proposes a Smart Crop Recommendation framework that leverages machine learning to empower farmers to make informed decisions about optimal crop selection. The framework consists of two phases: crop filtration and yield prediction. Crops are filtered in the first phase using an artificial neural network based on local input parameters. The second phase estimates yield for filtered crops, considering the season, farm area, and location data. The final recommendation provides farmers with crops aimed at maximizing profit. The remarkable 99.10% accuracy of the framework is demonstrated through experimentation using artificial neural networks and the 0.99 R2 error metric for the random forest. The uniqueness of this framework lies in its distinctive focus on the farm level and its consideration of the challenges and various agricultural features that change over time. The experimental results affirm the effectiveness of the framework, and its lightweight nature enhances its practicality, making it an efficient real-time recommendation solution. © The Author(s), under exclusi

Predictive demand forecasting plays a pivotal role in optimizing supply chain management, enabling businesses to effectively allocate resources and minimize operational inefficiencies. This paper introduces a novel approach to enhancing demand forecasting processes by leveraging the Ethereum virtual machine within a blockchain framework. The proposed system capitalizes on the inherent security, transparency, and decentralized nature of blockchain technology to create a secure and efficient platform for predictive demand forecasting. The system leverages the Ethereum virtual machine to establish a secure, decentralized, and tamper-resistant platform for demand prediction while ensuring data integrity and privacy. By utilizing the capabilities of smart contracts and decentralized applications within the Ethereum ecosystem, the proposed system offers an efficient and transparent solution for demand forecasting challenges. The current research focused on Ethereum virtual machine characteristics, features, components, and implementation details. A secured framework for the prediction of demand forecasting systems is proposed. Finally, the authors tried to validate and optimize the gas cost by using distinguished statistics and analysis. © 2024 The Author(s). As the power demand in data centers is increasing,the power capacity of the power supply system has become an essential resource to be *** many data centers use power oversubscription to make full use of the power capacity,there are unavoidable power supply risks associated with ***,how to improve the data center power capacity utilization while ensuring power supply security has become an important *** solve this problem,we first define it and propose a risk evaluation metric called Weighted Power Supply Risk(WPSRisk).Then,a method,named Hybrid Genetic Algorithm with Ant Colony System(HGAACS),is proposed to improve power capacity utilization and reduce power supply risks by optimizing the server placement in the power supply *** uses historical power data of each server to find a better placement solution by population *** possesses not only the remarkable local search ability of Ant Colony System(ACS),but also enhances the global search capability by incorporating genetic operators from Genetic Algorithm(GA).To verify the performance of HGAACS,we experimentally compare it with five other placement *** experimental results show that HGAACS can perform better than other algorithms in both improving power utilization and reducing the riskof powersupply system.

A novel binary quantizer for variational autoencoder-based image compressor

Neural network-based encoder and decoder are one of the emerging techniques for image compression. To improve the compression rate, these models use a special module called the quantizer that improves the entropy of the generated representation. Here, we propose a novel binary quantizer and an auxiliary support module known as the remapper that co-ordinate for better compression and decompression of an image. The proposed quantizer generates the compressed binary representation whereas the remapper aids in minimizing the reconstruction error during decompression. The combined optimization of the model consisting of the encoder, quantizer, remapper, and the decoder as a single entity is not feasible due to the non-differentiable nature of the quantizer. To mitigate this, we propose a step-by-step training process wherein the encoder and decoder are trained first, then keeping the encoder parameters fixed, the remapper is trained along with the decoder to obtain a fully optimized model. The training is performed with different types of images and the results are compared to understand the best training procedures. Experimental results reveal that the proposed model can compress a (Formula presented.) image to a mere 256 bits, thereby achieving a compression ratio of 6144:1;with excellent perceptual reconstruction during decompression. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Dimensionality reduction using neural networks for lattice-based cryptographic keys

Post Quantum Cryptography has received an increasing amount of active research. This has been made prominent by the ever-growing field of quantum computing which poses a formidable threat to the modern cybersecurity landscape. Recently, post quantum schemes have been standardized for adoption into existing security services and protocols. In comparison to contemporary cryptographic schemes, these approaches are lagging behind in terms of performance with regards to functional speed and package sizes. A study into the various applications of neural networks used in classical and post quantum cryptographic schemes has been explored to demonstrate their different possible applications within the various fields of cybersecurity. The main contribution of this work is to investigate the feasibility of dimensionality reduction using the autoencoder neural network on lattice-based keys generated by the Kyber key encapsulation mechanism scheme. Moreover, this work also presents a comparative analysis of the different implemented autoencoder models to showcase their relative performance. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Query reformulation system based on WordNet and word vectors clusters

With tremendous evolution in the internet world, the internet has become a household thing. Internet users use search engines or personal assistants to request information from the internet. Search results are greatly dependent on the entered keyword. Casual users may enter a vague query due to lack of knowledge of the domain-specific words. We propose a query reformulation system that determines the context of the query, decides on keywords to be replaced and outputs a better-modified query. We propose strategies for keyword replacements and metrics for query betterment checks. We have found that if we project keywords into the vector space of word projection using word embedding techniques and if the keyword replacement is correct, clusters of a new set of keywords become more cohesive. This assumption forms the basis of our proposed work. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed system, we applied it to the ad-hoc retrieval tasks over two benchmark corpora viz TREC-CDS 2014 and OHSUMED corpus. We indexed Whoosh search engine on these corpora and evaluated based on the given queries provided along with the corpus. Experimental results show that the proposed techniques achieved 9 to 11% improvement in precision and recall scores. Using Google’s popularity index, we also prove that the reformulated queries are not only more accurate but also more popular. The proposed system also applies to Conversational AI chatbots like ChatGPT, where users must rephrase their queries to obtain better results. © 2024 – IOS Press. All rights reserved.

Artificial hummingbird algorithm with chaotic-opposition-based population initialization for solving real-world problems

The artificial hummingbird algorithm is a global search mechanism with many applications in engineering design, but it tends to stall in high-dimensional problems with locally optimal solutions. To address this issue, this paper enhances an artificial hummingbird algorithm by using a chaos map and opposition-based method for population initialization to combat the lack of population diversity, the imbalance between exploration and exploitation, and the algorithm’s premature convergence. The randomness of chaos maps has been leveraged to prevent solutions trapped in local optima and facilitate faster convergence. Moreover, an opposition-based population can serve as a better initial solution and accelerate convergence when compared to random initialization. Two numerical test suites are used to evaluate the efficacy of the proposed algorithm: 50 benchmark functions and the CEC 2018 benchmark test suite. The outcomes are compared to eight other cutting-edge metaheuristic algorithms. Wilcoxon rank sum test, Friedman test, and mean absolute error are used to conduct additional statistical analysis on the data. Moreover, experiments are conducted on the aforementioned 57 real-world optimization problems to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. The outcomes are contrasted to the algorithms SASS, MAgES, EnMODE, and COLSHADE (which won the CEC2020 Competition on Real-World Single-Objective Constrained Optimization). All quantitative and qualitative results on benchmark functions, statistical tests, as well as real-world optimization problem results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is competitive and preferable to the metaheuristics considered in the experiments. Hence it is concluded that the proposed algorithm balances exploration and exploitation more effectively and the population initialization technique is conducive to augmenting the search capabilities of the artificial hummingbird algorithm. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verla

Exploring the Effectiveness of OKRs in Enhancing Company Objectives: A Comparative Study

The use of management by objectives (MBOs) methodologies, particularly the objectives and key results (OKRs) framework, has gained widespread attention in recent years as a means of improving organizational performance. This article aims to show that OKRs, a key MBO method, can enhance company performance and employee satisfaction. We conducted a comparative and retroactive analysis of MBO methods used in the 20th and 21st centuries, and surveyed 238 people in nine countries and various companies and positions. We analyzed the results of the survey and compared the variables associated with best practices in the OKR methodology. Our study examined a diverse range of companies, positions, qualifications, and ages, which provides an analysis of whether or not OKRs are being used in the organization and a comprehensive understanding of how OKRs can be implemented across in different contexts. By identifying the best variables associated with optimal performance and employee satisfaction, this article provides practical guidance for organizations seeking to adopt OKR methodology. Furthermore, this article can contribute to the development of best practices in the area of management by objectives, particularly in the context of OKRs, leading to more effective and efficient goal-setting practices in organizations. © 2024 IEEE.

L-DTC: Load-based Dynamic Throughput Control for Guaranteed I/O Performance in Virtualized Environments

In this letter, we identified an issue where the I/O performance of specific tasks could not be guaranteed during multi-process I/O operations, despite the use of the latest storage technologies in virtualized environments. To address this issue, we propose L-DTC, a novel Load-based Dynamic Throughput Control technique, designed to achieve the guaranteed I/O performance in virtualized environments. Operating at the hypervisor level, L-DTC provides fine-grained throughput control based on I/O queues and ensures the independent I/O performance for each process by allowing users to define maximum and minimum throughput levels for each queue. We conducted an evaluation of L-DTC and confirmed that it successfully guarantees the I/O performance requirements of specific processes in multi-process environments. Furthermore, L-DTC achieved more stable I/O performance compared to existing methods, with improvements in I/O performance of up to 2.1 times, regardless of the I/O scheduler. © 2002-2011 IEEE.

ICRM: An intelligent citation recommendation mechanism based on BERT and weighted BoW models

With the field of technology has witnessed rapid advancements, attracting an ever-growing community of researchers dedicated to developing theories and techniques. This paper proposes an innovative ICRM (Intelligent Citation Recommendation Mechanism), designed to automate the process of suggesting the appropriate number of citations for individual brackets within a document. The proposed ICRM comprises three phases: Coarse-grained Weighted Bag of Word (WCBW), Fine-grained SciBERT (FSB) and Citation Adjustment phases. Firstly, the WCBW phase employs TF-IDF to extract keywords from both target and candidate documents, forming vectors that capture word significance along with metadata like authorship, keywords, and titles. It aims to identify relevant papers from a database, serving as initial candidates for each bracket. Secondly, the FSB phase employs the SciBERT model to assess the similarity between candidate documents and the local context around brackets, enhancing the precision of recommendations. It refines this selection by analyzing candidate-document relationships within the proximity of the brackets. Lastly, the Citation Adjustment phase tackles overlapping citations and ensures that recommended citation numbers align with user-defined criteria, resolving issues of imbalance. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed ICRM outperforms existing models significantly in terms of precision, recall and F1-score. © 2024 - IOS Press. All rights reserved.
