This paper proposes a reconfiguration for a single-phase, double conversion uninterruptible power supply (UPS). With the addition of two static switches to the original circuit, the UPS mitigates the ripple in the current, through battery discharge performed by two legs. Other than these switches, the circuit topology is preserved. The preliminary results show a satisfactory level of ripples for the inductor current and suitable power quality for the output voltage.

Drying has been an eco-friendly and cost-efficient method to reduce post-harvest losses of agricultural crops. In various countries, the technique has been widely utilized in the form of Solar Dryer Dome (SDD) buildings. Accurate indoor microclimate forecasting is very important to implement smart control systems in SDDs that can maintain the ideal conditions, as the availability of solar energy is limited only at daytimes and the temperature may drop significantly during nighttimes in remote areas. The microclimate variables that play an important role in maintaining ideal environmental conditions include temperature and relative humidity. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Clinical Note Owns its Hierarchy: Multi-Level Hypergraph Neural Networks for Patient-Level Representation Learning

Leveraging knowledge from electronic health records (EHRs) to predict a patient’s condition is essential to the effective delivery of appropriate care. Clinical notes of patient EHRs contain valuable information from healthcare professionals, but have been underused due to their difficult contents and complex hierarchies. Recently, hypergraph-based methods have been proposed for document classifications. Directly adopting existing hypergraph methods on clinical notes cannot sufficiently utilize the hierarchy information of the patient, which can degrade clinical semantic information by (1) frequent neutral words and (2) hierarchies with imbalanced distribution. Thus, we propose a taxonomy-aware multi-level hypergraph neural network (TM-HGNN), where multi-level hypergraphs assemble useful neutral words with rare keywords via note and taxonomy level hyperedges to retain the clinical semantic information. The constructed patient hypergraphs are fed into hierarchical message passing layers for learning more balanced multi-level knowledge at the note and taxonomy levels. We validate the effectiveness of TM-HGNN by conducting extensive experiments with MIMIC-III dataset on benchmark in-hospital-mortality prediction. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A subscription movie streaming service from the United States, Netflix, has been present in Indonesia since 2016 and provides a wide variety of films without showing any single advertisements that can be viewed from anywhere, as long as there is access to the internet. Despite these advantages, many users have complained through the Google Play Store's comments column. Some of the common complaints include frequent buffering and connectivity issues, dissatisfaction with the limited selection of Indonesian movies, lack of subtitles for specific languages, or pricing concerns have also been raised. In this study developed two combined scenario methods using the InSet and SentiStrength_id dictionary to obtain better performance and compare them against independent InSet and SentiStrength_id. This study collected users' comments for the Netflix app in the Google Play Store as a dataset using web scraping techniques through the Google Collaboration tool. The dataset contains 3250 rows spanning the period from January 22, 2024, through June 6, 2024. To ensure proper processing of the text, data cleaning, lowercasing, normalization, tokenization, stemming, and stopwords removal are conducted. The results show that most user opinions are negative. The InSet dictionary has an accuracy of 92%, SentiStrength_id 78%, Combined scenario 1 is 87%, and scenario 2 reaches the highest among others which is 92.52%.

This Innovative Practice Work in Progress paper reports on a pilot program to support HBCU undergraduates in learning about open source software contribution. Offered in the Summer of 2023, this program was called Contributor Catalyst. This program was designed to support students who had completed foundational computing coursework (i.e. intro-ductory programming, data structures), but were still evaluating future education and career pathways. We served four HBCU undergraduates from the same institution in our pilot year. The program offered mentorship, instruction, and community-building through a hybrid-modality cohort model, in which students spent one week learning remotely, four weeks together in-person on an Rl residential campus, and then three more weeks collaborating remotely. Roughly the first half of the program was spent learning about open source tools, practices, and norms; the second half was spent contributing to p 5 js, a real world project which the students chose from a vetted list of options. Community-building events were highlighted during the in-person portion of the program, for example: welcome and departure dinners, regional excursions, and participating in a Black Lives Matter garden workday. Students also participated in professional development such as attending an academic research conference and visiting a tech company. Student learning was scaffolded by workshop-style instruction and was further supported by a layered community of practice. This community of practice included peer support from within the cohort, program support from their instructor, and project support from p 5 js community members. Students also had many opportunities to engage with guests including project maintainers, faculty members, and industry professionals, all working in the realm of open source. Application of Multiple Sensor Data Fusion for the Analysis of Human Dynamic Behavior in Space: Assessment and Evaluation of Mobility-Related Functional Impairments

The authors have applied a systems analysis approach to describe the musculoskeletal system as consisting of a stack of superimposed kinematic hier-archical segments in which each lower segment tends to transfer its motion to the other superimposed segments. This segmental chain enables the derivation of both conscious perception and sensory control of action in space. This applied systems analysis approach involves the measurements of the complex motor behavior in order to elucidate the fusion of multiple sensor data for the reliable and efficient acquisition of the kinetic, kinematics and electromyographic data of the human spatial behavior. The acquired kinematic and related kinetic signals represent attributive features of the internal recon-struction of the physical links between the superimposed body segments. In-deed, this reconstruction of the physical links was established as a result of the fusion of the multiple sensor data. Furthermore, this acquired kinematics, kinetics and electromyographic data provided detailed means to record, annotate, process, transmit, and display pertinent information derived from the musculoskeletal system to quantify and differentiate between subjects with mobility-related disabilities and able-bodied subjects, and enabled an inference into the active neural processes underlying balance reactions. To gain insight into the basis for this long-term dependence, the authors have applied the fusion of multiple sensor data to investigate the effects of Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis and Diabetic Neuropathy conditions, on biomechanical/neurophysiological changes that may alter the ability of the human loco-motor system to generate ambulation, balance and posture.

Multiple single-units recorded from chronically-implanted microelectrode arrays frequently exhibit variability in their spike waveform features and firing characteristics, making it challenging to ascertain the identity of recorded neurons across days. In this study, we present a fast and efficient algorithm that tracks multiple single-units, recorded in a nonhuman primate performing brain control of a robotic arm, across days based on features extracted from units' average waveforms. Furthermore, the algorithm does not require long recording duration to perform the analysis and can be applied at the start of each recording session without requiring the subject to be engaged in a behavioral task. The algorithm achieves a classification accuracy of up to 92% compared to experts' manual tracking.

Preparation of NIR Reflective Brown Pigment

Complex inorganic brown pigments having a high near infrared solar reflectance have been synthesized. Fe2O3 is the host component and mixtures of Sb2O3, SiO2, Al2O3, and TiO2 were used as the guest components. Sb2O3, SiO2, Al2O3, and TiO2 were mixed into 40 different compositions. It was found that a sample, denoted by S31, with a composition of Fe2O3, Sb2O3, SiO2, Al2O3, and TiO2 of 70, 10, 12, 2 and 6 wt% respectively, gives a maximum near infrared solar reflectance of 46.7%. Brown pigment colours were measured in CIE L*a*b* colour index. The S31 pigment powder was then prepared as a reflective coating material with different amounts of pigment powder from 4-8 g in 100 g of ceramic glaze. The prepared materials were sprayed on the biscuit clay tiles for reflectance measurements. It was found that 5 g of S31 pigment powder mixed with 100 g of ceramic glaze gives the highest near-infrared reflectance value of 41.3%. The newly synthesized pigment is a suitable ceramic roof coating for its high reflectance performance and the durability performing once the ceramic roof installed on house.

This paper presents a methodology for the segmentation and analysis of the tissues in color images of leg ulcers. The segmentation is obtained through an automatic analysis made in the RGB and SI channels by changing from the RGB color space to the HSI color space. The aim is to determine which of the five channels have the characteristic that will make the segmentation process more efficient. After the analysis, the selected channel is segmented and used as a mask over the original image, allowing that only the inner tissues of the wound be analyzed. The analysis is done through predetermined functions that attribute membership grade for each processed pixel as well as its level of engagement in a specified tissue class. The article also shows the results obtained from both the segmentation and analysis of tissues using the proposed method.
