The radar ambiguity function, described as an autocorrelation of shifts in time and frequency, is useful for determining a waveform's accuracy at detecting targets in certain range-Doppler combinations. An algorithm is proposed which uses a generalized method of alternating projections to synthesize waveforms with desired ambiguity function properties. In practice, it is often desirable to minimize the magnitude of the ambiguity function at range-Doppler combinations where targets other than the detection are likely to cause interference. The algorithm alternates between projections in the time, frequency, and range-Doppler domains until an optimal solution which fits desired ambiguity function properties is found. This work provides a computationally intelligent methodology to dynamically optimize detection in radar applications and a foundation for future work in joint circuit optimization for spectral compliance.

In the space community, there is increasing interest in augmentation of launch fairing thermal-acoustic blankets, to also control electromagnetic environment threats. This second paper by the authors reports on the development of simulation methods to predict the maximum expected electric field levels when RF absorbing materials are used to reduce the mean field. To account for frequency variance in a “frequency-stirred” ensemble, the paper reports the experimental validation of a new unconditional probability density function model – an enhancement to Rayleigh statistics – for the reverberant electric field magnitude at any location and any frequency.

Quantum illumination (QI) provides entanglement-enabled target-detection enhancement, despite operating in an entanglement-breaking environment. Existing experimental studies of QI have utilized a Bayesian approach, assuming that the target is equally likely to be present or absent before detection, to demonstrate an advantage over classical target detection. However, such a premise breaks down in practical operational scenarios in which the prior probability is unknown, thereby hindering QI's applicability to real-world target-detection scenarios. In this work, we adopt the Neyman-Pearson criterion in lieu of the error probability for equally likely target absence or presence as our figure of merit for QI. We demonstrate an unconditional quantum advantage over the optimal classical-illumination protocol as benchmarked by the receiver operating characteristic, which examines detection probability versus false-alarm probability without resorting to known prior probabilities. Our work represents a critical advancement in adapting quantum-enhanced sensing to practical operational settings. © 2024, CC BY.

The current study used cutting-edge techniques to experimentally test the early diagnosis of diabetes via retinal scans. The goal was to enable effective disease prediction and management by facilitating quick and precise medical diagnostics. Three processes were involved in the development of a Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) diagnosis tool: feature extraction, feature reduction, and image classification. The research employed Apache Spark, a distributed computing framework, to manage large datasets and enhance the performance of the multilayer perceptron (MLP) model via hyperparameter tuning and cross validation. Utilizing resources more effectively and achieving faster training times were made possible by Apache Spark. To support data-driven decision-making, the study also emphasized the significance of distributed platforms for analyzing large amounts of real-time diabetic data. To produce discriminative features for classification, the VGG16 architecture was employed for feature extraction. In the last epoch, the MLP model performed remarkably well, with an accuracy of 97%. The study also underlined the value of distributed platforms for data-driven decision-making by analyzing substantial volumes of real-time diabetes data.

The development of information and communication technology at this time has touched all sides of life. Almost no side of human life is not touched by this information technology, which is more synonymous with the world of computerization. No exception also with the computerization that is popular in the corporate environment and government agencies. If in ancient times everything was still done manually. However, at this time all leaders and management have realized the importance of this information technology products that can facilitate them in carrying out the day-to-day corporate functions. Decision Making System of goods purchasing is one of the determinants of the accumulation of goods. If the decision is taken right then stockpiling of goods can be avoided. In this thesis the authors designed a web-based system that helps Management in making the decision of the purchase amount of goods. the system was developed by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and using SQL Server database processing applications. The Doubly Linked Face List (DLFL) structure introduces a powerful modeling paradigm that allows users to alternatively apply topological change operations and subdivision operations on a mesh structure. Moreover the DLFL is topologically robust in the sense that it always guarantees valid 2-manifold surfaces. We further study the relationship between DLFL structure and subdivision algorithms. First, we develop a new corner cutting scheme, which provides a tension parameter to control the shape of the subdivided surface. Second, we develop a careful and efficient algorithm for our corner cutting scheme on the DLFL structure that uses only the basic operations provided by the DLFL structure. This implementation ensures that our new corner cutting scheme preserves topological robustness. The comparative study shows that the corner cutting schemes create better handles and holes than Catmull-Clark (1978) scheme.

We explore the differentiability of the micro-Doppler signal responses of human hand motion and held objects using harmonic radar and harmonic tags. When observing moving hands and objects tagged with harmonic radio-frequency tags, the harmonic radar detects motion (Doppler) responses at the fundamental frequency (scattered from the hand) and at the harmonic frequency (generated by the tag). In homodyne harmonic radars, both frequency responses manifest at baseband. In this work we explore the feasibility of differentiating the micro-Doppler and harmonic micro-Doppler baseband responses using machine learning based classification. For this purpose, three different classification algorithms in parallel with Adam optimization have been deployed. Results are presented in terms of confusion matrix and receiver operating curve (ROC). Overall, Convolution neural network (CNN) provides more accurate performance compared to the other algorithms, demonstrating the first step in classifications of human and hand-held objects. Recent studies indicate that customer awareness of and interest in mobile payments have been increasing. With customers worrying about their personal data being hacked or intercepted, major barriers to adoption are security and privacy risks. We are presenting in this paper the design of a secure scheme for mobile payments which guarantees mutual non-repudiation between the customer, merchant, and banker. With the proposed scheme, a customer can make a payment with the same payword chains of a single account from multiple devices.

Currently, Hyperspectral signal processing is a crucial area of research. Respectively, various techniques have been investigated to apprehend features combination and multi-label classification issues. Indeed, significant consideration has been given to approaches supporting the use of a single type of features. Moreover, few efforts have been dedicated to model the multi-label aspect of hyperspectral pixels and to integrate simultaneously divergent kinds of interdependent features. In this paper, we propose a novel embedding multi-label learning approach integrating complementary weighted features. The proposed framework combines the singular statistical characteristics of each feature to accomplish a physically meaningful cooperative low-dimensional representation of extracted features. This will grant, in one hand, the refinement of classification process and the propagation of narrow class information to unlabeled sample, in the other hand, when only partial labeling knowledge is available. This paper makes the following contributions: (i) the extraction of multi-view features based on the 3D model of the spectral signature and (ii) an embedding multi-label based approach by better tackling unbalanced and dimensionality issues. A set of complementary spatial/spectral features is extracted in the experimental section from a series of hyperspectral images. The obtained results reflect the efficiency of the proposed classification schema while maintaining a reasonable computational complexity.
