Cybersecurity safeguards computer systems, net- works, and digital information from a wide variety of cyber-attacks. Its major purpose is to protect the privacy of users' data and resources while maintaining their integrity and making them accessible in the digital world. Cybersecurity is an area that receives investment from businesses, individuals, and governments all around the world in order to secure sensitive information, key infrastructure, and digital assets. Protection of Sensitive Information Both individuals and businesses store huge amounts of sensitive information digitally, including personal data, financial records, intellectual property, and trade secrets. This information must be protected in order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure. The protection provided by cybersecurity prevents this information from being stolen, exposed, or accessed without authorization. Cyberattacks can result in severe financial losses, including theft of funds, fraud, and the expenditures associated with recovering from a cyber incident. It is possible to prevent these types of losses by taking preventative measures. Implementing these strategies helps prevent losses of this nature. In this paper, we propose a system architecture of a generic secure system, which can be deployed for various applications, i.e., smart healthcare, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), smart city, etc. We discuss the threats and attacks in cyberspace. Then, we explain the requirements of cybersecurity. Further, we discuss the devastation in the absence of cyber security. We also explain the cybersecurity deployments and techniques under cybersecurity. Then, in the end, some future research directions for cybersecurity are provided. © 2024 IEEE.

Consider learning the shared representations from multiple unlabeled views. Previous work either projects different views to the same space while enforcing the agreement among the projected views such as multiview canonical correlation analysis (MCCA), or factorizes different views while ensuring the common latent components across the views such as PARAFAC2, a tensor decomposition method. In this paper we first investigate a fundamental question: 'Do these two approaches learn different representations?' Preliminary numerical results suggest that in practice they do, which, in turn, begs the question of how we can leverage this observation in order to compute a superior representation. In this paper, we present a simple proof-of-concept scheme which augments MCCA with PARAFAC2 representations and vice-versa, and we demonstrate on multiple real datasets that such scheme can improve upon the baseline representation, paving the way for future research on optimally combining the strengths of projection and factorization methods for multiview representation learning. © 2024 IEEE.

Recognition of Bengali sign language characters is crucial for facilitating communication for the deaf and hard-of-hearing population in Bengali-speaking regions, which encompass approximately 430 million people worldwide. Despite the significant number of individuals requiring this support, research on Bengali sign language character recognition remains underdeveloped. This article presents a novel approach to categorize Bengali sign language characters using the Ishara-Lipi dataset, based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and pretrained models. We evaluated our approach using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrices. Our findings indicate that the CNN model achieved the highest performance with an accuracy of 98%, followed by VGG19 with 94% and ResNet variants achieving around 88%. The proposed model demonstrates robust and efficient classification capabilities, significantly bridging the gap in existing literature. This study holds substantial promise for enhancing assistive technology, thereby improving social inclusion and quality of life for Bengalispeaking deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. © 2024 IEEE.

Based on the MPXV Clade IIb cases in Taiwan, 175 segments were identified from OPG001 to OPG210. The first focus of this paper is on sequence analysis of the MPXV cases in Taiwan, detailing the procedures, including semi-automated segmentation and dataset creation from a large number of MPXV Clade IIb nucleotide sequences found in the NCBI and GISAID databases. The second feature highlights the pioneering establishment of an MPXV Clade IIb RNA 2nd structure image dataset in Taiwan, as such a dataset does not yet exist globally. The third characteristic involves the use of unsupervised learning methods for the rapid clustering of MPXV Clade IIb RNA 2nd structure images. This approach allows not only for the quick detection and clustering of unknown MPXV Clade IIb cases but also for the rapid identification of new MPXV mutations and structural changes. Compared to traditional sequence analysis, this new hybrid systematic method significantly enhances overall efficiency, improving processing speed by at least 24 hours when handling the alignment of 10 MPXV sequences from Taiwan. Future plans include using this prototype analytical model and method to accelerate the analysis of critical lethal factors in MPXV Clade IIb, such as D14L, ultimately helping biologists reduce the time required for analysis and antiviral drug development. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In the rapidly advancing field of computer vision, object detection has become crucial for various applications, including animal tracking, face detection, and surveillance systems. This study investigates the efficacy of contemporary object detection methodologies by evaluating the performance of the You Only Look Once (YOLO) models and TensorFlow Model Zoo architectures for animal tracking. YOLO models, known for their ability to process entire images in real-time and predict bounding boxes and class probabilities simultaneously, offer significant advantages over traditional methods such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Fast R-CNNs. This paper compares the performance of YOLOv5 and YOLOv7, alongside TensorFlow-based models like Faster R-CNN ResNetv152 and SSD ResNet101, using a dataset of animal images. Our findings reveal that YOLOv5 outperforms other models with a mean average precision (mAP) of 9 7.5%, demonstrating superior accuracy and efficiency in object detection tasks. YOLOv7 also shows strong performance with an mAP of 96.7%, while TensorFlow Model Zoo's Faster R-CNN and SSD models lag behind with mAPs of 81.9% and 81.6%, respectively. The results highlight the significant advancements in deep learning and object detection algorithms, particularly the advantages of YOLO's architecture in handling complex detection tasks in real-world scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

Short message spam poses a significant threat for all mobile phone users, as it can act as an efficient tool for cyberattacks including spreading malware and phishing. Traditional anti-spam measures are only minimally effective against modern spammers. Intelligent analysis of the content to categorise the messages as Spam (unwanted and unsolicited) or Ham (useful messages) is therefore essential to safeguard the user from such attacks. Various artificial intelligence (AI) techniques are proving to be useful in the analysis of the content of such short messages to classify and filter spam. We have trained, validated and tested seven such AI techniques on the SMS spam collection dataset to identify the best model for designing and developing a content based classification system. Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) have shown the highest performance metrics (Test Accuracy: 99.28%) and hence our proposed system includes a RNN model for classification. A web app of this system has also been deployed where a single SMS can be input and the designed system can classify it as Spam or Ham. The designed system is compared against existing systems and is found to be significantly better. © 2024 IEEE.

Crowd management is the problem of dealing with physical crowds of humans, e.g., for safety reasons or to improve services through crowd-awareness. In previous work, the notion of a Crowd Digital Twin (CDT), namely the digital twin associated to physical gatherings of humans, was motivated and proposed as a fundamental component of crowd management systems. In this work, we better characterise the CDT notion, by investigating the functional and non-functional requirements that such a technical solution should satisfy. Then, we consider what are the fundamental components of CDT systems, and accordingly delineate a general architecture aimed at flexibly supporting the corresponding physical-digital thread. © 2025 IEEE.

A smart home can be considered a place of residence that enables the management of appliances and systems to help with day-to-day life by automated technology. In the current paper is described a prototype that simulates a context-aware environment, developed in a designed smart home. The smart home environment has been simulated using three agents and five locations in a house. The context-aware agents behave based on predefined rules designed for daily activities. Our proposal aims to reduce operational cost of running devices. Globally, heart disease poses a significant challenge to public health. Early identification is crucial for effectively managing and treating heart conditions. Machine learning has shown promising results in predicting medical problems for the past few years. In this study, A system was developed that is capable of detecting cardiovascular diseases using machine learning methods. The project consists of Data loading, Exploratory data analysis, preprocessing, training, evaluation and storage. A dataset was introduced that contained an array of characteristics related to the cardiovascular health status (such as age, gender, cholesterol level.). However, training measured the accuracy of 3 algorithms: K Nearest Neighbours (KNN), Decision Tree, and Random Forest in identifying heart ailment. The article also returns an ensemble graph that considers the forecasts of both these models together, saving the best GNB model for future use. Results showed that the machine learning methods are proficient in heart problem identification, as in this hybrid model, with a 97.32% accuracy rate. © 2024 IEEE.

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is an emerging field that aims to enable machines to understand and interpret human language. Keyword extraction and synonym generation are essential tasks in natural language processing. They play a significant role in information retrieval, text classification, and sentiment analysis. In this paper, we explore three different approaches to keyword extraction and synonym generation: rule-based model, statistical model, and extreme learning machine (ELM) model. We compare the performance of each method on a corpus of text and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each approach. Our results show that the ELM model outperforms the other two methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.
