Robust Line-Convex Polygon Intersection Computation in E2 using Projective Space Representation

This paper describes modified robust algorithms for a line clipping by a convex polygon in E2 and a convex polyhedron in E3. The proposed algorithm is based on the Cyrus-Beck algorithm and uses homogeneous coordinates to increase the robustness of computation. The algorithm enables computation fully in the projective space using the homogeneous coordinates and the line can be given in the projective space, in general. If the result can remain in projective space, no division operation is needed. It supports the use of vector-vector operations, SSE/AVX instructions, and GPU. © 2023 Institute of Information Technology, Warsaw University of Life sciences - SGGW. All rights reserved.

Our research aims to investigate how machine learning techniques can be applied for efficient image retrieval based on content. It is a very difficult process to obtain accurate images from vast digital image collections. CBIR has been particularly interested in this area. It has been shown that content- or feature-based approaches are more effective than text-based query techniques. Research has shown that the performance of these methods varies depending on the type and size of the data set analyzed, with some algorithms performing well for specific small data sets and others for larger data sets. This article provides a comprehensive and systematic review of effective methods for obtaining the image. The paper's objective is to examine different ML classifiers that are applied via the researchers and compare their results based on accuracy and performance. These algorithms include SVM, KNN, random forest, BoVW, Naive Bayes, and LDA. This review paper can assist researchers in selecting the best classifier for their research, as well as in improving existing classifiers by combining them with other algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a signal processing framework for automatic anxiety level classification in a virtual reality exposure therapy system. Two types of biophysical data (heart rate and electrodermal activity) were recorded, pre-processed and passed through a feature extraction procedure that provided input for the real-time anxiety level classification algorithm. We showcase the mathematical and engineering techniques behind the procedures and conclude with the challenges encountered in our research and future development ideas. The proposed method provides a good estimate of the level of anxiety while having at the same time a reduced level of complexity, allowing implementation on equipment with limited computing resources. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Smart cities have emerged as a response to the fast expansion of metropolitan areas;these places strive to improve the lives of their residents while simultaneously promoting environmentally responsible growth. To maximize urban services, the Internet of Things (IoT) is an essential technology that allows for the seamless integration of sensors, devices, and systems. This allows smart cities to become a reality. With an emphasis on smart transportation, energy management, healthcare, environmental monitoring, and public safety, this paper explores the critical role of IoT in smart cities. Data security, privacy, scalability, and interoperability are some of the problems that arise when smart cities use IoT, despite the revolutionary potential it has. These obstacles are thoroughly examined in this work, along with possible solutions to these problems. This study gives a thorough overview of the IoT and its impact on smart city development, innovation, and urban resilience by focusing on the present situation, applications, and unanswered questions. © 2025 IEEE.

Video Anomaly Localization techniques are interesting and emerging tasks in computer vision that is used to locate the position of an anomalous object with bounding boxes. Convolutional neural network-based object localization methods have been developed which detect and classify objects with high precision and accuracy. Many algorithms have been developed for object detection and localization with excellent outcomes. These algorithms are fast RCNN, faster RCNN, and YOLO. In this paper, a comprehensive analysis of faster RCNN and YOLO V3 algorithms for anomaly localization is performed based on the parameters FPS, mAP, Precision, Recall and F1 Score. © 2023 IEEE.

The study's main objective is to predict the sign of the stock by sentimental analysis regarding the Hindenburg report on Adani group stocks by obtaining tweets from Twitter. The study's findings will aid in understanding the effect of the Hindenburg report on the stocks of the Adani group. Excel files are downloaded from Twitter containing tweets from social media users. Tweets are cleaned up by eliminating noise data after extraction. Machine learning algorithms, such as Logistic Regression (LR), Linear support classification (SVC), Random Forest (RF), and voting, were used to classify the data into positive, Neutral, and negative groups. © 2024 IEEE.

The SNS based E mentoring and Development of Computational Thinking for Undergraduate Students in an Online Course

Given the importance of digital technology in daily life, computational thinking (CT) has become a necessary skill for everyone, not just for computer scientists. For CT development, students need to receive appropriate social learning support. However, instructors find it difficult to provide such support to many students in online courses. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of e-mentoring via social network services (SNS) in developing students’ CT during large-scale online courses. A total of 327 undergraduate students volunteered to participate in this study, which included 16 weeks of lectures aimed at developing CT. The effects of SNS-based e-mentoring on CT development, the influences of each e-mentoring activity on CT development, and gender differences were analyzed using data on participants’ CT assistance scores and their utilization of e-mentoring activities. The findings indicated that SNS-based e-mentoring was effective in developing the CT of undergraduate students’ engagement in a large-scale online course. The most influential e-mentoring activities for students’ CT development were informational and technical support in a group and informational support in a private environment. Female students benefited more from SNS-based e-mentoring than male students, and they also engaged in more types of e-mentoring activities than male students. Participation in SNS-based e-mentoring was found to lower the gap in CT between students with and without prior learning experience. Our study findings can be used by educational institutions and instructors when designing courses for students’ CT development in large-scale online courses or when developing strategies to close the gender gap in CT ability. © 2023,Educational Technology and Society. Paddy farming plays a critical role in global food security, yet diseases like Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB) pose significant threats to crop yield and quality. Early detection and accurate diagnosis are essential for effective disease management. This research study investigates machine learning methods for feature extraction and prediction of BLB in paddy fields. Utilizing a comprehensive dataset of paddy leaf images, several machine learning models including Support Vector Machines (SVM), Random Forest (RF), k-Nearest Neighbours (kNN), and Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM) were trained and evaluated. Performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score were employed to assess the effectiveness of each model. The comparative analysis discusses the strengths and limitations of each method, focusing on those that demonstrate superior capability in early and accurate detection of BLB. These findings provide valuable insights for agricultural scientists and practitioners to enhance disease management strategies using modern machine learning techniques. By leveraging this knowledge, specialists can optimize interventions and improve agricultural practices to mitigate the impact of diseases like BLB on paddy farming and ensure global food security. © 2024 IEEE.

Music mashups integrate elements from different songs to create surprising and engaging listening experiences. Typically, a mashup combines the vocal track of a base song with the instrumental tracks of complementary songs. Automating the production of mashups has been an area of research for decades. Traditional approaches utilize rule-based methods, such as matching tempo and harmonic similarity, to select optimal segments for mashup generation. More recent techniques leverage neural networks to classify segment compatibility. However, both approaches primarily focus on layering segments that are generally compatible, without ensuring their detailed integration and alignment with the vocal track. In contrast, we introduce a novel approach using Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) that learns to rearrange instrumental segments to better align with the base vocal track, resulting in more surprising and accurate music blends for mashup generation. Additionally, we conducted subjective listening tests to evaluate our generated mashups against a baseline model using the same song pairs and the original base songs, assessing our model's performance. Among the many industrial wireless solution candidates, 5G New Radio (NR) has drawn significant attention in recent years due to its capabilities to support ultra-high-speed communication, ultra-low latency, and massive connectivity. Despite its great potential, 5G NR also brings significant complexity in scheduling industrial data flows to meet their hard real-time requirements. In this paper, we first leverage a real-world 5G RAN testbed to benchmark the downlink throughput and explore the impact of modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection on the network performance. We then formulate a real-time flow scheduling problem in industrial 5G NR, which features per-flow real-time schedulability guarantees through time-frequency-space resource allocation. We propose a novel two-phase scheduling framework, named 5G-TPS, to construct the schedule that meets the deadlines of all the flows. To adapt to dynamic channel conditions, 5G-TPS enables online schedule adjustment for affected flows to meet their timing requirements. To evaluate the performance of 5G-TPS, we present a case study of a motion control panel use case and perform extensive experiments. The results show that 5G-TPS can achieve schedulability ratios comparable to the Satisfiability Modulo Theory (SMT)-based exact solution and outperform many other state-of-the-art scheduling approaches, including the built-in 5G NR schedulers. © 2023 IEEE.
