Speaker diarization, a core problem in speech processing, entails partitioning a given audio stream according to the speakers. Even though progress has been made in the development of the models for high-resource languages, there is still a set of specific difficulties in going through a similar process for low-resource languages such as Kurdish: there are very few annotated datasets available;the language has dialects;speakers use code-switching a lot. These challenges are met in this study by training the Wav2Vec 2.0 SSL model on a Kurdish dataset prepared for this purpose. Thanks to transfer learning, it was possible to transfer multilingual representations learnt in other languages to the phonetic and acoustic features of Kurdish speech. The general Diarization Error Rate (DER) was reduced by 7.2%, and the cluster purity increased by 13% when compared to the baseline algorithm. They show that making improvements in any state-of-the-art model can help in enhancing the performance of under-resourced languages. Implications of this work include transcription services for Kurdish-language media programs, as well as speaker segmentation in multilingual call centers, teleconferencing, and videoconferencing systems. Therefore, this work demonstrates that self-supervised and transfer techniques can improve speaker diarization for Kurdish and other low-resource languages with diverse features. MRSO: Balancing Exploration and Exploitation through Modified Rat Swarm Optimization for Global Optimization

The rapid advancement of intelligent technology has led to the development of optimization algorithms that leverage natural behaviors to address complex issues. Among these, the Rat Swarm Optimizer (RSO), inspired by rats' social and behavioral characteristics, has demonstrated potential in various domains, although its convergence precision and exploration capabilities are limited. To address these shortcomings, this study introduces the Modified Rat Swarm Optimizer (MRSO), designed to enhance the balance between exploration and exploitation. MRSO incorporates unique modifications to improve search efficiency and durability, making it suitable for challenging engineering problems such as welded beam, pressure vessel, and gear train design. Extensive testing with classical benchmark functions shows that MRSO significantly improves performance, avoiding local optima and achieving higher accuracy in six out of nine multimodal functions and in all seven fixed-dimension multimodal functions. In the CEC 2019 benchmarks, MRSO outperforms the standard RSO in six out of ten functions, demonstrating superior global search capabilities. When applied to engineering design problems, MRSO consistently delivers better average results than RSO, proving its effectiveness. Additionally, we compared our approach with eight recent and well-known algorithms using both classical and CEC-2019 benchmarks. MRSO outperforms each of these algorithms, achieving superior results in six out of 23 classical benchmark functions and in four out of ten CEC-2019 benchmark functions. These results further demonstrate MRSO’s significant contributions as a reliable and efficient tool for optimization tasks in engineering applications. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Image feature matching is one of the most important basic techniques for agricultural robots. This task has been tried, but because of the complexity of the image, especially the non-rigid transformations, the performance is still far from satisfactory. This paper proposed a semantic-guided feature matching method for both agricultural mobile robot and UAV via semantic segmentation and probabilistic inference. Given an original image pair, a learning-based method, which is very active to the challenging variation of outdoor luminosity, is introduced firstly to produce a sematic image pair. This step shifts the robot's focus to the task itself, while improving matching efficiency at the same time. Then, based on the characteristic similarity of the ROI region of the semantic image pair, a series of putative correspondences are generated. Next, the focuses on eliminating outliers from that series while deducting the transformation, where this procedure was developed on a maximum likelihood Bayesian model. The paper has also applied three effective regularization techniques to the correspondence, which helped to come up with the best solution. Finally, as the problem was solved by EM algorithm and extensive experiments on those images taken from the real farmland, it is safe to say that the accurate results of this method are superior to other state-of-the-art methods.

This paper proposes an ocean front database and a method for its construction tailored for studying the dynamic evolution of ocean fronts. Ocean fronts play a crucial role in the interactions between the ocean and atmosphere, affecting the transfer of heat and matter in the ocean. In recent years, research on ocean fronts has emerged as a significant and rapidly evolving area within oceanography. With the development of ocean remote sensing technology, the amount of available ocean remote sensing data has been increasing. However, the potential of this expanding volume of ocean front data remains largely untapped. The lag in data processing technology has hindered research progress in understanding ocean fronts despite the growing amount of data available. To bridge this gap, this paper proposes an ocean front dynamic evolution database along with a method for its construction to further promote research into the variations and interactions of ocean fronts. This is especially relevant for studies utilizing deep learning to explore the dynamic evolution of ocean fronts. Specifically, the proposed database is designed to capture the variation processes of ocean front enhancement and attenuation, as well as the interactions during ocean front splitting and merging. The proposed database construction method allows for the segmentation and extraction of specific ocean fronts of interest from ocean front images. The proposed method is beneficial for analyzing the dynamic evolution between multiple ocean fronts on the same timeline.

GMOCSO: Multi-objective Cat Swarm Optimization Algorithm based on a Grid System

This paper presents a multi-objective version of the Cat Swarm Optimization Algorithm called the Grid-based Multiobjective Cat Swarm Optimization Algorithm (GMOCSO). Convergence and diversity preservation are the two main goals pursued by modern multi-objective algorithms to yield robust results. To achieve these goals, we first replace the roulette wheel method of the original CSO algorithm with a greedy method. Then, two key concepts from Pareto Archived Evolution Strategy Algorithm (PAES) are adopted: the grid system and double archive strategy. Several test functions and a real-world scenario called the Pressure vessel design problem are used to evaluate the proposed algorithm's performance. In the experiment, the proposed algorithm is compared with other well-known algorithms using different metrics such as Reversed Generational Distance, Spacing metric, and Spread metric. The optimization results show the robustness of the proposed algorithm, and the results are further confirmed using statistical methods and graphs. Artistic-style text detector and a new Movie-Poster dataset

Although current text detection algorithms demonstrate effectiveness in general scenarios, their performance declines when confronted with artistic-style text featuring complex structures. This paper proposes a method that utilizes Criss-Cross Attention and residual dense block to address the incomplete and misdiagnosis of artistic-style text detection by current algorithms. Specifically, our method mainly consists of a feature extraction backbone, a feature enhancement network, a multi-scale feature fusion module, and a boundary discrimination module. The feature enhancement network significantly enhances the model's perceptual capabilities in complex environments by fusing horizontal and vertical contextual information, allowing it to capture detailed features overlooked in artistic-style text. We incorporate residual dense block into the Feature Pyramid Network to suppress the effect of background noise during feature fusion. Aiming to omit the complex post-processing, we explore a boundary discrimination module that guides the correct generation of boundary proposals. Furthermore, given that movie poster titles often use stylized art fonts, we collected a Movie-Poster dataset to address the scarcity of artistic-style text data. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed method performs superiorly on the Movie-Poster dataset and produces excellent results on multiple benchmark datasets. It is essential that all algorithms are exhaustively, somewhat, and intelligently evaluated. Nonetheless, evaluating the effectiveness of optimization algorithms equitably and fairly is not an easy process for various reasons. Choosing and initializing essential parameters, such as the size issues of the search area for each method and the number of iterations required to reduce the issues, might be particularly challenging. As a result, this chapter aims to contrast the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) with the most recent algorithms on a selected set of benchmark problems with varying benchmark function hardness scores and initial control parameters comparable problem dimensions and search space. When solving a wide range of numerical optimization problems with varying difficulty scores, dimensions, and search areas, the experimental findings suggest that WOA may be statistically superior or inferior to the preceding algorithms referencing convergence speed, running time, and memory utilization. © 2023, CC BY.

Asia stands out as a priority for urgent biodiversity conservation due to its large protected areas(PAs)and threatened *** the 21st century,both the highlands and lowlands of Asia have been experiencing the dramatic human ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity is poorly ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity over 2000 to 2020 in Asia at the continental(Asia),national(48 Asian countries),and hotspot(6,502 Asian terrestrial PAs established before 2000)scales is investigated by integrating multiple large-scale *** results show that human expansion poses widespread threat to biodiversity in Asia,especially in Southeast Asia,with Malaysia,Cambodia,and Vietnam having the largest threat degrees(~1.5 to 1.7 times of the Asian average level).Human expansion in highlands induces higher threats to biodiversity than that in lowlands in one-third Asian countries(most Southeast Asian countries).The regions with threats to biodiversity are present in~75%terrestrial PAs(including 4,866 PAs in 26 countries),and human expansion in PAs triggers higher threat degrees to biodiversity than that in *** findings provide novel insight for the Sustainable Development Goal 15(SDG-15 Life on Land)and suggest that human expansion in Southeast Asian countries and PAs might hinder the realization of *** reduce the threat degree,Asian developing countries should accelerate economic transformation,and the developed countries in the world should reduce the demands for commodity trade in Southeast Asian countries(i.e.,trade leading to the loss of wildlife habitats)to alleviate human expansion,especially in PAs and highlands.

Teaching Mode Based on Educational Big Data Mining and Digital Twins

Data mining technology has gradually become an important data analysis and knowledge discovery technology widely used in many modern industries. Data mining is a technique to find its regularity from a large amount of data by analyzing each data. It mainly includes three steps: data preparation, regularity search, and regularity representation. Data preparation is to select the required data from relevant data sources and integrate them into a data set for data mining;regular search is to find out the regularity contained in the data set by a certain method;regular expression is to be as user-readable as possible. The way of understanding (such as visualization) will represent the found patterns. This research mainly discusses the improvement of teaching mode based on digital twin-based education big data mining. Through the research on the basic principles of data mining and digital twin technology, the student evaluation tool module based on digital twin and the relevant data analysis tool module of students based on digital twin education big data mining are developed. Data mining is carried out from the data of student performance, personal basic information, and evaluation information to find the correlation between various factors, find the hidden laws, and provide support for teaching decision-making. This paper also solves the problem of frequent communication with remote databases according to the characteristics of the database data required by students and improves the efficiency and scalability of education big data mining technology based on digital twins. The goal of the virtual interactive system of the digital twin-based CNC platform is to have both three-dimensional real-time monitoring and remote control functions based on a three-dimensional virtual CNC panel.
