Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) integrate the virtual cyber world with the real physical world. In order to verify the new theories and methods, a novel CPSs simulation model for unmanned vehicle with Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) navigation is designed and developed using TrueTime and Matlab/Simulink. This model contains many computer kernel nodes connected by one wireless network block. The intelligent road and the unmanned vehicle works in close cooperation in the form of CPSs. The simulation results associated with the loss probability of the wireless network and time delay are shown. There are some research issues need to be considered in future. © 2012 Springer science+Business Media.

Along with the development of network communication, digital media technology, multi-networks convergence and integrated business enlarge the ranges of mobile application, and data are produced, transported, stored and coped across heterogeneous networks, such as wired and wireless networks hybrid access. Data access is suffered from heterogeneous platforms and terminals with different ability, etc. It is a challenge how to ensure fair, efficient service. The article proposes hybrid access system model, analyzes data access performance, illustrates hybrid access optimization method to ensure fair and efficiency, and test the access delays and rates of the hybrid access system so as to provide reference to improve system design and optimization access performance.

Diffie-Hellman (DH) symmetric encryption plays an important role in the network security, and the security proof for many protocols relies on the DH assumption. The Logic of Local Sessions (LLS) is a practical security protocol logic. With its automatic tool Security Protocol Verifier (SPV), LLS can verify many interesting properties for complex security protocols. However, It does not discuss the DH key exchange and the related properties. In this paper, we extend the original LLS with DH exponentiation. After revising some primary concepts and definitions, a new theorem called DH-Secrecy Properties is proposed and proved. Avoiding influencing the proof of the former axioms, our extension enlarges the range of applicability of LLS. © 2012 IEEE.

Streamlining codesign method for systems with timing uncertainties: A case study of CNC systems

Implementation of controllers is always subject to timing uncertainties due to computing limitation, which will deteriorate control performance of a system. Integration from different perspectives is frequently adopted to improve control performance in the literature. A streamlining codesign method is proposed which contains two critical parts: analysis model and the implementation architecture. Based on the former, the effect of timing attributes on control performance is estimated and key timing factors is chosen to manage, which makes the subsequent integration more efficient. In implementation architecture, the network bandwidth and CPU processing power is flexibly deployed. The method is validated with an application to CAN-based CNC systems. The sampling output jitter is the crucial timing factor concerned in the codesign. The scheduler designed regulates the sampling period to maximize the utilization of computing resources, and eventually improve the CNC control performance, which is shown by comparison of contour error in different sampling period.

The representation of high-order features based on kernel function

In order to solve the computational complexity problem brought by high-order local features, the representation of high-order local features based on kernel function is proposed. At First, the feature space is mapped to the geometric invariant space by comparing local features extracted from two images. Then, we generate high-order local features by establish a kernel function. At last, a multi-target image classification experiment has been conducted through combining with the support vector machine. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method improve classification accuracy by 10%. © 2012 Binary Information Press.

In order to use large numbers of unlabeled images effectively, this paper proposes an image classification method based on semi-supervised learning. The proposed method bridges a large amount of unlabeled images and limited numbers of labeled images by exploiting the common topics. The classification accuracy is improved by using the must-link constraint and cannot-link constraint of labeled images. The experimental results on Caltech-101 demonstrate the feasibility and stability of proposed method. Furthermore, due to the present semi-supervised image classification methods lacking of incremental learning ability, we propose an incremental implementation of our method. Comparing with non-incremental learning model in literature, the incremental learning method can improve the computation efficiency of nearly 90%.

A nonreversing FP-tree algorithm mining with frequent closed item sets

The frequent closed item set algorithm has shown its important advances by providing a minimal representation of frequent item sets without losing their support information. However, many applications showed that the efficiency of the frequent closed item set algorithm cannot meet requirements, which made it difficult to extend the application range for data. By analyzing the influence factors on the efficiency of frequent closed item set algorithm, a new algorithm -FrecisFP (Frequent Closed Item Sets FP tree) is proposed in this paper. In the improved algorithm, FP tree technology was used, it only generates constrained sub-trees consisting of three small arrays in process of mining, which is a virtual tree structure based on the originally nonreversing FP-tree, so the flaw of former algorithms is avoided. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm improved the mining efficiency by reducing the space and time consumption to a great extent. © 2012 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. -All rights reserved. -All rights reserved.

Wang et al. [6] proposed a scheme of allowing granter nodes to allocate multiple mini-slots to improve the data scheduling efficiency of the three-way handshake procedure, however, the size of the availability mini-slots is no considered. In fact, the available mini-slot space may not be contiguous but can include many windows of several slots in the actual data scheduling. To address this problem, we propose a novel data scheduling scheme, which is based on our proposed optimal model of mini-slots allocation, to reduce the number of mini-slot segments and to keep continuous mini-slots as long as possible. Simulation results show that our proposed scheduling schemes can achieve low transmission delay of data packets and high utilization ratio of mini-slots of all network nodes. © 2011 IEEE.

Networked control systems (NCSs) are characterized by sharing a communication network between sensors, actuators, and controllers, which involves several subjects such as control, communication, and computer sciences. To achieve the optimized system performance in unpredictable environments, a novel methodology, codesign among several subjects, is emerging in the context of integrating control, computing, and communications. The aim of this work is to provide a better understanding of this emerging methodology. Relevant research efforts from different perspectives are concisely discussed by being classified into three categories, i.e., CPU resource scheduling, network bandwidth allocation, and advanced control. Then the tools supporting codesign of NCSs are summarized. The codesign methods can be extended in many directions, and some suggestions for future work are also outlined. © 2011 IEEE.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) are characterized by integrating computation and physical processes. The theories and applications of CPSs face the enormous challenges. The aim of this work is to provide a better understanding of this emerging multi-disciplinary methodology. First, the features of CPSs are described, and the research progresses are summarized from different perspectives such as energy control, secure control, transmission and management, control technique, system resource allocation, and model-based software design. Then three classic applications are given to show that the prospects of CPSs are engaging. Finally, the research challenges and some suggestions for future work are in brief outlined. © 2011 IEEE.
