Networked control systems (NCSs) are characterized by sharing a communication network between sensors, actuators, and controllers, which involves several subjects such as control, communication, and computersciences. To achieve the optimized system performance in unpredictable environments, a novel methodology, codesign among several subjects, is emerging in the context of integrating control, computing, and communications. The aim of this work is to provide a better understanding of this emerging methodology. Relevant research efforts from different perspectives are concisely discussed by being classified into three categories, i.e., CPU resource scheduling, network bandwidth allocation, and advanced control. Then the tools supporting codesign of NCSs are summarized. The codesign methods can be extended in many directions, and some suggestions for future work are also outlined.

Software development effort estimation is a branch of forecasting that has received increased interest in academia as well as in the field of research and development. Predicting software effort with any acceptable degree remains challenging. In this paper we have developed 2 different linear regression models using fuzzy function point (FFP) and non fuzzy function point in order to predict the software project effort and further we have also considered that the entire projects are organic in nature i.e. the project size lies between 2 to 50 KLOC. After obtaining the software effort, project manager can control the cost and ensures the quality more accurately.

Aphysical model facility was designed, built, and setup for conducting model tests on a composite foundation in a soil ground. The model tests were carried out on a composite foundation with different combinations of vertical reinforcement elements in the same soil ground. Via the analysis of the collected data the characteristics of the composite foundation with different reinforcing elements were obtained, including the characteristics of load-settlement curves, column stresses, stresses of the intercolumn soil, pile-soil stress ratio, and load-sharing ratios of columns and soil. Results from the model tests reveal the mechanism of a composite foundation with different reinforcing elements quantitatively. It is concluded that both a composite foundation with a combination of steel pipe pile and sand column and that with a combination of concrete pile and lime column have a higher bearing capacity than the composite foundation with only sand columns with the same conditions of soil ground and loading. A composite foundation with lime column and sand column embodies no much better performance than that with sand colunms only.
