The Plasmodium parasite, which causes malaria, is an acute fever illness that infects people when a female Anopheles mosquito bites them. It is predicted that malaria would claim 619,000 lives in 2021, with 96% of those deaths occurring in the African continent. We can achieve this by using a microscope to examine thick and thin blood smears. The proficiency of a microscope examiner is crucial for doing microscopic examinations. Consider how time-consuming, ineffective, and costly it would be to examine thousands of malaria cases. Consequently, Creating an automated method for detecting malaria parasites is the aim of this study. We employ a MobileNetV2 pretrained model with CNN technology. Because it has been trained on dozens or even millions of data points, this pretrained model is incredibly light but dependable. There are two main benefits of automatic malaria parasite detection: firstly, it can offer a more accurate diagnosis, particularly in locations with limited resources; secondly, it lowers diagnostic expenses. The optimizer utilizes Adam Weight, the criteria uses NLLLoss, and the model is trained using 32 for batch_size. In the fourteenth epoch, we obtained the maximum accuracy score of 96.26% based on the training data. The outcomes of the predictions demonstrate how excellent this score is. EfficienceNet, DenseNet, AlexNet, and other pretrained models are among the alternatives that scientists are advised to try training with.

Antithetic Multilevel Particle Filters

In this paper we consider the filtering of partially observed multi-dimensional diffusion processes that are observed regularly at discrete times. This is a challenging problem which requires the use of advanced numerical schemes based upon time-discretization of the diffusion process and then the application of particle filters. Perhaps the state-of-the-art method for moderate dimensional problems is the multilevel particle filter of [12]. This is a method that combines multilevel Monte Carlo and particle filters. The approach in that article is based intrinsically upon an Euler discretization method. We develop a new particle filter based upon the antithetic truncated Milstein scheme of [10]. We show that for a class of diffusion problems, for ϵ > 0 given, that the cost to produce a mean square error (MSE) in estimation of the filter, of O(ϵ2) is O(ϵ−2 log(ϵ)2). In the case of multidimensional diffusions with non-constant diffusion coefficient, the method of [12] has a cost of O(ϵ−2.5) to achieve the same MSE. This research aims to create a virtual reality-based practice system that simulates real-stage performance environments, assisting amateur dancers in overcoming stage fright and practicing group choreography that is difficult to achieve during individual practice. In this study, users can engage in performance simulations within the created system using the HTC VIVE virtual reality device. Within the system, we have developed a virtual stage space system that only requires a 2m x 3.5m physical area to simulate a large virtual stage experience. Users can also simulate choreographic positioning with virtual dance partners within this system, providing amateur dancers with group dance rehearsal practice opportunities that are not feasible during solo practice. Additionally, by creating three different audience modes, we aim to help users simulate various audience scenarios they may encounter during a performance. The system includes a recording feature that captures users' simulated performances, allowing them to review their actions and receive feedback after practice.

Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) refers to the use of AI to automate the information creation process while fulfilling the personalized requirements of users. However, due to the instability of AIGC models, e.g., the stochastic nature of diffusion models, the quality and accuracy of the generated content can vary significantly. In wireless edge networks, the transmission of incorrectly generated content may unnecessarily consume network resources. Thus, a dynamic AIGC service provider (ASP) selection scheme is required to enable users to connect to the most suited ASP, improving the users’ satisfaction and quality of generated content. In this article, we first review the AIGC techniques and their applications in wireless networks. We then present the AIGC-as-a-service (AaaS) concept and discuss the challenges in deploying AaaS at the edge networks. Yet, it is essential to have performance metrics to evaluate the accuracy of AIGC services. Thus, we introduce several image-based perceived quality evaluation metrics. Then, we propose a general and effective model to illustrate the relationship between computational resources and user-perceived quality evaluation metrics. To achieve efficient AaaS and maximize the quality of generated content in wireless edge networks, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-enabled algorithm for the optimal ASP selection. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can provide a higher quality of generated content to users and achieve fewer crashed tasks by comparing with four benchmarks, i.e., overloading-avoidance, random, round-robin policies, and the upper-bound schemes. © 2023, CC BY.

Ontology embeddings map classes, relations, and individuals in ontologies into Rn, and within Rn similarity between entities can be computed or new axioms inferred. For ontologies in the Description Logic EL++, several embedding methods have been developed that explicitly generate models of an ontology. However, these methods suffer from some limitations;they do not distinguish between statements that are unprovable and provably false, and therefore they may use entailed statements as negatives. Furthermore, they do not utilize the deductive closure of an ontology to identify statements that are inferred but not asserted. We evaluated a set of embedding methods for EL++ ontologies, incorporating several modifications that aim to make use of the ontology deductive closure. In particular, we designed novel negative losses that account both for the deductive closure and different types of negatives and formulated evaluation methods for knowledge base completion. We demonstrate that our embedding methods improve over the baseline ontology embedding in the task of knowledge base or ontology completion. © 2024, CC BY.

As the world has struggled against a virus, technology enabled our survival in many dimensions. In many cases adoptions of technologies which would have lasted years happened in weeks if not days. For example, remote health care adoption was accelerated immensely to deal with the challenged health system. We are about to see similar technological innovations ramp up the hard hit economies through many different sectors. As always said, challenges create opportunities. Our field of engineering and technology Management is growing. IEEE technology and engineering Management Society (TEMS) just finished the first virtual conference: TEMSCON 2020. As a part of it we held an editors’ panel. Holding the conference on line enabled many editors of the leading journals in the field attend the event.

Dear Editor,Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex(PDHc) is a large multienzyme assembly(Mr = 4–10 million Daltons) consisting of three essential components: pyruvate dehydrogenase(E1p), dihydrolipoyl transacetylase(E2p), and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase(E3). These three enzymes perform distinct functions sequentially to catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate with formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH) and acetyl-coenzyme A(Patel and Roche, 1990).

Stress, as a reaction to threatening situations, can raise heart rate and result in serious conditions that might cause significant damage or even be life-threatening. Traditional methods for evaluating stress, which rely on subjective self-reporting and clinical assessments, often suffer from biases and inconsistencies. Artificial intelligence models have been explored to predict stress levels more accurately. This paper investigates the application of Extreme Gradient Boosting in classifying psychological stress using the WESAD dataset, which includes parameters such as acceleration, electrocardiogram, electromyography, electrodermal activity, temperature, and respiration. The dataset was balanced and sampled to create a manageable subset for experimental. Extreme Gradient Boosting was chosen for its efficiency and scalability in handling complex datasets. The model was trained and validated, achieving a 95% accuracy in predicting stress levels. This study highlights the potential of integrating Extreme Gradient Boosting models into wearable devices for real-time stress monitoring. Future work involves optimizing the model to utilize fewer sensors without decreasing accuracy, ensuring it can be integrated into portable/wearable systems using tiny microcontrollers.

Driven by advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and algorithms, the widespread adoption of AI-generated content (AIGC) has emerged, allowing for the generation of diverse and high-quality content. Especially, the diffusion model-based AIGC technique has been widely used to generate content in a variety of modalities. However, the real-world implementation of AIGC models, particularly on resource-constrained devices such as mobile phones, introduces significant challenges related to energy consumption and privacy concerns. To further promote the realization of ubiquitous AIGC services, we propose a novel collaborative distributed diffusion-based AIGC framework. By capitalizing on collaboration among devices in wireless networks, the proposed framework facilitates the efficient execution of AIGC tasks, optimizing edge computation resource utilization. Furthermore, we examine the practical implementation of the denoising steps on mobile phones, the impact of the proposed approach on the wireless network-aided AIGC landscape, and the future opportunities associated with its real-world integration. The contributions of this paper not only offer a promising solution to the existing limitations of AIGC services but also pave the way for future research in device collaboration, resource optimization, and the seamless delivery of AIGC services across various devices. This research article presents a modified isolated SEPIC converter suitable for high-power applications. It uses a transformer instead of coupled inductor for isolation between the input power source and the output load. The steady-state analysis is explained in detail. Thermal loss analysis is performed by using PLECS software. Further, a hardware prototype is developed to verify the performance aspects of the proposed converter.
