The importance of silicon cannot be undermined - in photovoltaics (PV) as well as in semiconductor industries. However, silicon is very brittle. Silicon cells/wafers crack easily during manufacturing assembly and/or during device operations. Crack Catcher AI uses novel smart fracture mechanics approach with Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies to predict and control crack/damage evolution in thin silicon cells/wafers. This is critical as semiconductor 3D integration technology calls for wafer-to-wafer bonding with utmost alignment accuracy and yield/reliability.

Boosting the Performance of Image Restration Models Through Training with Deep-Feature Auxiliary Guidance

Many neural network architectures have been suggested for image restoration models to enhance the accuracy of restored images while keeping the computational time reasonable. However, most previous studies have primarily focused on introducing new network architectures, with relatively less emphasis on efficient training techniques. This paper introduces a novel training strategy that improves the accuracy of image restoration models without increasing inference times by preserving their structures. To achieve this, we add auxiliary guidance at a feature map of each multi-scale level during the training process. All modules added to the model for the application of auxiliary guidance are only used during training time and can be removed at the inference phase, thereby eliminating the need for additional computation. Our proposed training method, named deep-feature auxiliary guidance (DFAG), can be easily applied to existing encoder-decoder architectures. By applying DFAG to train existing image restoration models, we have obtained enhanced performance in real-image denoising, Gaussian denoising, motion deblurring, JPEG artifact reduction, and super-resolution for all tested models. Interest in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven crowd work has increased during the last few years as a line of inquiry that expands upon prior research on microtasking to represent a means of scaling up complex tasks through AI mediation. Despite the increasing attention to the macrotask phenomenon in crowdsourcing, there is a need to understand the processes, elements, and constraints underlying the infrastructural and behavioral aspects in such form of crowd work when involving collaboration. To this end, this paper provides a first attempt to characterize some of the research conducted in this direction to identify important paths for an agenda comprising key drivers, challenges, and prospects for integrating human-centered AI in collaborative crowdsourcing environments.

In this work, we proposed a direct computation of the DCT algorithm that is improved by utilizing the coefficients of cosine and sine to calculate the DCT bins for Mel-scale frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC). Instead of computing directly, the cosine coefficient is sharply declined more than 85% at the expense of the amount of additions and multiplications. According to the PSNR comparison results, and the proposed method is similar to Jo et al.'s algorithm. which uses approximate computation, so that the PSNR value is closed to 52 dB. Although the proposed algorithm must pay for some accuracy and extra complexity in computation, it still can greatly reduce more sizes of ROM. Based on the point of interest of simple control and straightforward structure, the algorithm is a selectable design for applications to the design of MFCC. © 2021 IEEE.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most pressing health concerns because so many people are afflicted by its disabling symptoms. Factors such as age, excess body fat, insufficient physical activity, a history of diabetes in one's family, a sedentary lifestyle, an unhealthy diet, hypertension, etc., all increase the likelihood of developing diabetes mellitus. Health complications are more common in people with diabetes, including cardiovascular disease, renal failure, stroke, blindness, and nerve injury. To validate a diagnosis of diabetes, hospitals typically perform a battery of procedures on the patient. Big data analytics has many vital applications in the healthcare sector. Numerous large computer systems are used in the healthcare sector. With the help of big data analytics, researchers can sift through mountains of data in search of previously unseen patterns and insights. Current techniques have a poor degree of precision in classification and forecast. While previous research has focused on factors such as glucose, body mass index, age, insulin, etc., the proposed model takes these into account and also the other factors that may be more relevant to the development of diabetes. The newer sample is superior to the older one based on categorization accuracy. A workflow algorithm for diabetes prognosis is also required to improve the accuracy.

Proteins are macromolecules responsible for essential functions in almost all living organisms. Designing reasonable proteins with desired functions is crucial. A protein's sequence and structure are strongly correlated and they together determine its function. In this paper, we propose NAEPro, a model to jointly design Protein sequence and structure based on automatically detected functional and conserved sites. NAEPro is powered by an interleaving network of attention and equivariant layers, which can capture global correlation in a whole sequence and local influence from nearest amino acids in three dimensional (3D) space. Such an architecture facilitates effective yet economic message passing at two levels. We evaluate our model and several strong baselines on two protein datasets, β-lactamase and myoglobin. Experimental results show that our model achieves the highest binding affinity scores among the top-5, top-10 and top-30 candidates. These findings prove the capability of our model to design functional proteins. Furthermore, in-depth analysis further confirms our model's ability to generate highly effective proteins capable of binding to their target metallocofactors. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Generative Diffusion Models (GDMs) have emerged as a transformative force in the realm of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), demonstrating their versatility and efficacy across various applications. The ability to model complex data distributions and generate high-quality samples has made GDMs particularly effective in tasks such as image generation and reinforcement learning. Furthermore, their iterative nature, which involves a series of noise addition and denoising steps, is a powerful and unique approach to learning and generating data. This paper serves as a comprehensive tutorial on applying GDMs in network optimization tasks. We delve into the strengths of GDMs, emphasizing their wide applicability across various domains, such as vision, text, and audio generation. We detail how GDMs can be effectively harnessed to solve complex optimization problems inherent in networks. The paper first provides a basic background of GDMs and their applications in network optimization. This is followed by a series of case studies, showcasing the integration of GDMs with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), incentive mechanism design, Semantic Communications (SemCom), Internet of Vehicles (IoV) networks, etc. These case studies underscore the practicality and efficacy of GDMs in real-world scenarios, offering insights into network design. We conclude with a discussion on potential future directions for GDM research and applications, providing major insights into how they can continue to shape the future of network optimization. © 2023, CC BY.

Computational music research plays a critical role in advancing music production, distribution, and understanding across various musical styles in the world. Despite the immense cultural and religious significance, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) chants are relatively underrepresented in computational music research. This paper contributes to this field by introducing a new dataset specifically tailored for the analysis of EOTC chants, also known as Yaredawi Zema. This work provides a comprehensive overview of a 10-hour dataset, 369 instances, creation, and curation process, including rigorous quality assurance measures. Our dataset has a detailed word-level temporal boundary and reading tone annotation along with the corresponding chanting mode label of audios. Moreover, we have also identified the chanting options associated with multiple chanting notations in the manuscript by annotating them accordingly. Our goal in making this dataset available to the public1 is to encourage more research and study of EOTC chants, including lyrics transcription, lyric-to-audio alignment, and music generation tasks. Such research work will advance knowledge and efforts to preserve this distinctive liturgical music, a priceless cultural artifact for the Ethiopian people. © 2024, CC BY.

Kansei engineering has a wide range of applications in design and industry. By considering factors related to Kansei and applying them to the product development and design process, user experience can be improved. To evaluate Kansei quantitatively, researchers used questionnaires such as self-assessment manikin (SAM) in the past years. Recently, researchers have measured physiological signals associated with a person's emotional state, such as electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV), to evaluate Kansei more objectively. Furthermore, previous studies have proposed a method to estimate emotions using EEG and HRV. They combined these two signals to estimate emotions based on a psychological model, Russell's circumplex model. In order to distinguish inferred emotions based on physiological signals from cognitive emotions, they named their method the bio-emotion estimation method. However, the accuracy of bio-emotion estimation method has not been fully validated. Meanwhile, the traditional SAM questionnaire can obtain users' cognitive emotions with arousal and valence value. The arousal and valence also correspond to the two factors of the bio-emotion estimation method. Therefore, we conducted a SAM questionnaire to verify the accuracy of the bio-emotion estimation method. The results showed that the measured EEG indexes were highly consistent with human arousal perception. Then, we applied the bio-emotion estimation method to present the emotional transitions induced by the stimuli.
