Device degradation due to hot carrier injection (HCI) in multi-fin 20 nm and 10 nm N- and P-type FinFET devices are thoroughly analyzed. To further understand the HCI reliability of the four FinFET devices, the device is fabricated with a standard Vt base and low Vt base gate stacks with different work functions. It is evident that: (i) The standard Vt device sustains lower effective stress bias due to the difference in threshold voltage, resulting in a more stable threshold voltage than the low Vt base device, and (ii) the transconductance of the single N- and P-type FinFET is more severely degraded than the multi-fin N- and P-type FinFET, mainly because multi N- and P-type Finfet has coupe effect, which effectively reduces the impact of HCI. © 2023 The Electrochemical Society ("ECS"). A dual-mode, dual-band 2.4/ 5.2 GHz circular microstrip patch antenna for airborne application is presented. Initially, a reference circular patch antenna is designed on Rogers© 5880 substrate for dual-mode (TM11 and TM01) performance with a single feed location. The bandwidth (BW) of the reference antenna is found to be 33 MHz and 155 MHz at 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz bands respectively. Later, the BW of the reference antenna at both the frequency band is enhanced with the help of proximity patches placed around the periphery of the reference/driven patch. It is found that the BW of the antenna at both the bands is enhanced by 2.5% at 2.4 GHz and 3.9 % at the 5.2 GHz band and similar improvements in their gains are also observed. The proposed antenna is fabricated and tested in an anechoic chamber for its impedance bandwidth and radiation pattern performance. A close match in simulated and measured performance of the antenna is achieved and an appropriate comparison of measured quantities is well illustrated in the paper.

TERMinator: A Neural Framework for Structure-Based Protein Design using Tertiary Repeating Motifs

Computational protein design has the potential to deliver novel molecular structures, binders, and catalysts for myriad applications. Recent neural graph-based models that use backbone coordinate-derived features show exceptional performance on native sequence recovery tasks and are promising frameworks for design. A statistical framework for modeling protein sequence landscapes using Tertiary Motifs (TERMs), compact units of recurring structure in proteins, has also demonstrated good performance on protein design tasks. In this work, we investigate the use of TERM-derived data as features in neural protein design frameworks. Our graph-based architecture, TERMinator, incorporates TERM-based and coordinate-based information and outputs a Potts model over sequence space. TERMinator outperforms state-of-the-art models on native sequence recovery tasks, suggesting that utilizing TERM-based and coordinate-based features together is beneficial for protein design. © 2022, CC BY.

The development of game technology has opened up new possibilities in learning methods through educational games. However, in Indonesia, the application of this concept is lacking. One lesson that can benefit from educational games is Indonesian History in class X, with a focus on history in the pre-literacy period. This study aims to create a puzzle-Adventure type of digital game that can help educate students about the pre-literacy period, developed with Unity, and uses WebGL as a target device while referring to Indonesia's revised 2013 national curriculum. The result of this research is the creation of a digital game that can be played on average of 254.36 seconds, with potential for educational use. A survey result shows that many of the ancient objects and some of the ages are well-recognized. However, the survey also shows many of the gameplay aspects, such as UI, gameplay features, and adventure elements, need improvements. © 2020 IEEE.

In this article, a complete 3-D integrated sensing system intended for practical applications was presented on a printed circuit board (PCB) board, starting with lead-free piezoelectric films deposited using an RF sputtering system, an MEMS structure design/simulation, device fabrication, and a signal processing chip design, including charge- to-voltage transformation, signal amplification, 60-Hz noise rejection, and low-power RF wireless transmission chip for remote monitoring. Both the signal processing chips and the RF wireless transmitter chips were manufactured using the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) CMOS process. The piezoelectric coefficient d33 was measured as 27.21 pm/V of the proposed ZnO:Li doped Mg (MLZO) films. To meet the frequency specifications of industrial applications, the ring-structure devices with a 7730-Hz resonance frequency were designed using ANSYS simulation software. There was only a 0.39% deviation compared to the simulation results with the actual experimental data. The measurement results of the proposed system showed that the acceleration detection range was approximately 137 mV/ g (p-p). The voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) adopted in the wireless transmitter chip had a four-leaf clover structure inductor with two symmetrical axes resulting in better suppression of magnetic field radiation. Finally, this system was applied to industrial spindles, and the normal and abnormal operation information of spindles was successfully and wirelessly monitored. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Driving in the wrong direction is one of the main reasons that cause road accidents in Thailand. To efficiently detect wrong direction driving vehicles, we proposed a system that can track those moving vehicles from CCTVs using deep learning and image processing techniques. Our proposed system is composed of two main algorithms: Road Lane Boundary detection from CCTV algorithm (RLB-CCTV) and Majority-Based Correct Direction Detection algorithm (MBCDD). In this paper, we introduced the RLB-CCTV algorithm and the enhanced version of MBCDD algorithms for detecting road boundaries and wrong-direction driving vehicles. Based on our experiments, our system can identify the road lane boundary and track vehicles driving in the wrong direction on each lane with an accuracy of 96.61%.

This research is an approach to intelligent vehicles with a LoRa communication system, LoRaWAN compatible for Long-Range and Outdoor Communication, but in this paper, we will test the ability of LoRa to handle autonomous vehicles, a Blind-Adaptive Data method will be tried on vehicles systems. The system offered is when the vehicle is running, the sensor will send position data in real-time, the number of vehicles is four, and GPS data is sent alternately using the Blind Adaptive Data Rate principle to avoid data collisions, and when the GPS shows a certain position, the value of SF is ascertained, which affects the data rate and ToA, and the output given is RSSI on each car, speed of a car, power consumption of sensor nodes, signal power, SNR, Bit rate or data rate, and sensitivity. With the Blind ADR principle, it is ensured that there is no data collision between car position data that causes packet loss.

Monitoring the quality of river water is of fundamental importance and needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to the research into the hydrological field. In this context, the concentration of the dissolved oxygen (DO) is one of the most significant indicators of the quality of river water. The current study aimed to estimate the minimum, maximum, and mean DO concentrations (DO min, DO max, DO mean) at a gauging station located on Tualatin River, United States. To that end, four machine learning models, such as support vector regression (SVR), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), random forest (RF), and gradient boosting (GB) were established. Root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), coefficient of correlation (R), and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) metrics were employed to better assess the accuracies of these models. The modeling results demonstrated that the SVR and MLP surpassed the RF and GB models. Despite this, the SVR was concluded to be the best-performing method when used to estimate the DO min, DO max, and DO mean. The best error statistics in the testing phase were related to the SVR model with full (four) inputs to estimate DO mean concentration (RMSE = 0.663 mg/l, MAE = 0.508 mg/l, R = 0.945, NSE = 0.875). Finally, the explainability of the superior models (i.e. SVR models) was conducted using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) for the first time to estimate DO concentration. In fact, evaluating the explainability of machine learning models can provide useful information about the impact of each of the input estimators used in the procedure of models development. It was concluded that the specific conductance (SC) and followed by water temperature (WT) could provide the most contributions for estimating the DO min, DO max, and DO mean concentrations. © 2024 The Author(s). Recent studies of genotype-phenotype (GP) maps have reported universally enhanced phenotypic robustness to genotype mutations, a feature essential to evolution. Virtually all of these studies make a simplifying assumption that each genotype—represented as a sequence—maps deterministically to a single phenotype, such as a discrete structure. Here, we introduce probabilistic genotype-phenotype (PrGP) maps, where each genotype maps to a vector of phenotype probabilities, as a more realistic and universal language for investigating robustness in a variety of physical, biological, and computational systems. We study three model systems to show that PrGP maps offer a generalized framework which can handle uncertainty emerging from various physical sources: (1) thermal fluctuation in RNA folding, (2) external field disorder in spin glass ground state finding, and (3) superposition and entanglement in quantum circuits, which are realized experimentally on IBM quantum computers. In all three cases, we observe a novel biphasic robustness scaling which is enhanced relative to random expectation for more frequent phenotypes and approaches random expectation for less frequent phenotypes. We derive an analytical theory for the behavior of PrGP robustness, and we demonstrate that the theory is highly predictive of empirical robustness. © 2023, CC BY.

Breast cancer is classified into five intrinsic subtypes, with differing treatment methods and prognoses. Therefore, accurate identification of subtypes from patient transcriptome data is essential. Many gene signatures, including PAM50, have been developed to classify breast cancer subtypes. However, existing gene selection methods do not utilize biological pathways. Gene signature selection using biological pathways can explain signature genes in terms of biological functions. Thus, we propose a probabilistic model for pathway-guided gene set selection using gene expression data. First, we defined gene and pathway factors based on gene expression and pathway activation levels, and calculated the posterior probability. Second, we adopted the prediction strength to guide gene set selection. Third, the gene set was selected using the posterior probability and prediction strength values. Finally, on evaluating the selected gene set, it was experimentally confirmed that our gene set performed better on classification tasks than the PAM50 gene set, a gene set produced by the XGBoost classifier, and a random gene set. Among the genes selected by our method, it was confirmed that the genes included in the cell cycle and circadian rhythm pathways showed different expression patterns for each breast cancer subtype. Our selected gene set exhibited biological significance in terms of pathway activation. © 2021 IEEE.
